I dare you to find two more "Exteme" personality players than Youk and Pedroia.

I'll wait right here.

Carlos Zambrono? (dunno just taking a wild guess) and...you got me, but those two (who happened to emerge in the Theo reign) are too bland

I've decided to be a bandwagon Phillies fan for this series only.

Hence, the new avatar.

Hope no one is offended.

Damn straight.

No personality whatsoever.

Maybe I used the wrong word when I talked about personality. The problem with Pedro is not his personality, but his diva persona. The Sox FO doesn't want to deal with it.

I don't blame them.

It was caught on a fly' date=' replays showed it.[/quote']

No way. Maybe I can get a little help from someone else here who watched the game. They slowed it down, zoomed in, and clearly showed that it short hopped into Howard's glove.

They showed the replay like 20 times in my broadcast, even in slo-mo. He caught in the air.

I completely disagree, and the broadcasters completely disagreed. All the different networks showing highlights completely disagreed. The ball so clearly changed the directions.

Come on Dipre, it clearly hit the ground.

I stand corrected.

But from the angle in 0:31 it looks like it was caught on the air, and that's the one we had.

Fair enough. What network do you watch the games on?

We have our own network from Dominican (CDN) covering the WS live.

In the plaza in front of my building in Philly they're setting up a huge tent with all kinds of booze. Apparently its a reception for execs from the Yankees and Phillies. It looks pretty high class but doesn't this go against the spirit of competition? Mingling over cocktails?

True' date=' but equally disgusting were the 2 strike calls on him....could these umps be much worse?[/quote']

All the pitchers were getting calls off the outside edge last night. It was a wide strike zone, but it was consistent throughout. The home plate ump established very early what his strike zone was, and he stuck by it through the duration of the game.

EDIT: Unless you're talking about his AB against Marte in game one. Those were bad calls.

The strike call on Howard in the 9th was pretty awful as well.

You have to admit, he was giving that pitch the entire night. At that point, if he called that a ball, it would be even worse, because he had already established that pitch as a strike.

That isnt what he's saying Dipre. Youkilis and Pedroia have the "dirtdog" mentality. Guys who will give their left arm to win a game. Thats fine. It was the Pedro's and the Manny's of the world who would put performance on the field, but were viewed as some to be distractions off of it because of their comments and their attitude. Its the diva personality. The sox hated it and with good reason. At the same time, some players are great and you have to live with their personalities

It's already been cleared and discussed, champ.

But thanks for your input.

Intriguing stuff from the World Series.

Joe Blanton will pitch game 4, meaning that Cliff Lee goes in game 5, Pedro in game 6 and Cole Hamels in game 7.

The Yankees still plan on using the 3 man rotation with CC squaring off with Blanton in game 4, Burnett vs Lee in game 5, Pettitte vs Pedro in game 6 and CC vs Hamels in game 7.

Also, it sounds like Matsui may be starting in LF for game 3. Now, he hasnt played any OF at all this season, but he has looked much better on the basepaths and Citizens Bank is a pretty small stadium. Thing is, if Matsui is playing LF, it might be a good idea to start Gardner in CF since the loss of range needs to be made up. I guess it is possible that Gardner starts in CF and Melky in RF in that scenario.

I certainly hope they go with a three man rotation, but you're really making an assumption. The Yankees haven't even officially committed to their game four starter, let alone their starters for the rest of the series.

Also, I think Charlie Manuel is making a huge mistake only having Lee pitch twice in the series. I understand that he has never gone on three days rest before, but, if it gets to a game seven, they likely pay dearly for this decision. In my opinion, you have to put the weight on the shoulders of your top players, and, for the Phillies, that's Cliff Lee.

Matsui mustnt have looked good in practice today in LF. So be it. We'll at least have the big bat off the bench. Did he say anything about RF? Cause if it is Hairston again and we start Molina in game 5 with Burnett on the hill, then things get really, really dicey with the back end of the lineup.

No one has earned the right to be a diva.

If that were true, there would be no Divas and prima donas, because they would not be tolerated. The reality is that baseball always has a few divas sprinkled around, and they are always star players. You never see a bench player who is a diva, because he'd be unemployed real fast. Teams tolerate the diva routine from stars. Hence, my "he's earned it" comment. I didn't say that it was right. It just is.
