Anything could happen here; I would not be shocked if this series was 4 games or went all the way to 7. Hopefully the Yankees take the first two at home and don't have to go out west behind, that's crucial.

Have they officially announced that they're going to start Weaver in game two? I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted Kazmir to pitch at NYS in an attempt to neutralize the Yankees' left handed power.

I also really hope they drop Damon in the order' date=' but I know it won't happen.[/quote']

Why? Because he had one bad series and will have a week between games? Come on....

He has been awful for the last month. Over such a small sample size you need to ride the hot hands, instead of letting guys round into form. The guy that hits behind Jeter, and before Teixeira and A-Rod, is extremely important. Damon is not getting it done right now, and hasn't for awhile. He should not be hitting there. However, it's a moot point because Girardi won't do it.

Ya gotta give it up to the Angels and the Yanks,

both were somewhat tested and both came back from being down a couple runs in the 9th and swept up.I like the Angels pitching a lot more than Minnesota's but with Arod Jetsey and Tex hitting on all cylinders now they got their hands full.

How much is Bobby Abreu making?

The bargain of the offseason.

5m? I knew it was short money but that's just unreal.

We gave Penny and Smoltz 5M each to keep us from winning the division.

Thats not entirely fair but man i always liked abreau and he has given the angels a little more swagger than theyve had in the past, you just knew Paps wasnt getting him out in the 9th with the game on the line...f***,after the 7th inning i thought we were going to come back and win this thing.

What can you say after a year like this? Full houses every night, a battle tested team with the pitching and a lot of guys who can rake looking to become the team of the decade just couldnt get it done.

Usually I go into a month long depression over something like this but there's been something missing on this team since Manny left, call it swagger call it lack of muscle but I just cant figure out how guys like Lackey and Weaver can stick it up our asses like they did on back to back nights and then yesterday our 0.00 era closer couldnt seal the deal...

Youk makes a f***ed up play at 1st in the 8th,Guerrero beats us with his liner to center and there were the bad hops and lack of big hits and consistancy that got us finally in the end.

Hang in there men, it aint as bad as it looked.

With the young arms that Theo has drafted and the current staff we have we can expect more October baseball next year and thats almost a certainty. We need to make a few moves to get some offense, maybe restructure the power game and concentrate more on producing runs with some more speed?

This teams future is as solid as any team in the league,Bucholz showed us yesterday that he is a stud in the making and with 1 more year of Becks Lester Bckhlz and DiceK we're going places even if Im hitting cleanup next April.

Well, the days off are after game 2, after game 4, and after game 5. If Sabathia goes game 1, 4, and 7, then he will only go on 3 days rest on game 4. I guess it depends on how hard he works for game 1 and where we are sitting. If we are up 3-0 for game 4, I guarantee Gaudin pitches. If we arent, then it probably means CC goes game 4 on 3 days rest then game 7 on full rest.

1- Sabathia

2- Burnett

day off

3- Pettitte

4- Sabathia - 3 days rest

day off

5- Burnett

6- Pettitte

7- Sabathia

I don't care whether they're up 3-0 or down 3-0 to be perfectly honest. We've seen this team blow leads before. If anything, Sabathia should pitch game four so he is available for a potential game seven. You have to play it safe.

One of Torre's enormous mistakes in the 2004 ALCS, for a variety of different reasons, was not starting Mussina in game four. If he did that, at least he could have sent back Mussina on two days rest in game seven, to go up against Lowe (on the same amount of rest).

Yeah, for example, I think the Red Sox got really lucky in 2007. They never should have pitched Wakefield in game four, and they were somewhat fortunate that the offense showed up to the degree that it did the rest of the series. Also, after being given a 3-0 lead in game seven, Matsuzaka gave two of them back, and the Guardians were poised to tie the game in the seventh inning (I feel like Joel Skinner doesn't get enough grief for one of the biggest gaffes in postseason history). The way Beckett was pitching that postseason, if he's starting game seven, it's probably over at 3-0.

**I guess no one really talks about Skinner's mistake because of all the runs the Red Sox scored in the bottom of the seventh and the bottom of the eighth. But if the game is tied, it might have played out very differently.

Care to elaborate? Do you think the running game will be particularly effective against guys like Aceves and Robertson?

I think so, yes. Aceves and Robertson are young and experienced, and prone to making rookie mistakes. I think Yankee offense is going to be covering for at least a few slipups by the pen. And I wouldn't count on Mariano to go unscathed either -- you're going up against one of the best teams in the AL after all.

OK, I mean, that's fair. You would have to admit though, there is nothing tangible or specific in your argument besides "the Angels are a good team".

But your statement about the Dodgers still makes absolutely no sense. For the most part, their bullpen is young also, and they're going up against one of the best offensive teams in baseball.
