All kidding aside' date=' who would you trust? We've hit you pretty well.[/quote']The Yankees have a good lineup. They've hit everyone well. When Tito sits Varitek, the Sox lineup is very tough too 1 thru 8.

I honestly dont see how he cant sit Varitek. He doesnt block the ball well. He doesnt throw the ball well. He doesnt make contact well. He doesnt hit for power anymore at least recently. Varitek went from being useful with the stick and only a small liability behind the dish in April to being one of the worst players I have ever seen. His body has betrayed him and when you consider the fact that father time has also drained his stamina, he is just a crumbled wreck. The sox would be better off with him off the playoff roster and someone with actual ability taking his place. But that wont happen.

Byrd allowed 3ER in 6IP in Yankee stadium against the yankee offense. Do you know how good that is?

I'm sure his ERA is still close to 5.

And it's good; but not great unless he goes at least 7. He was due for a good outing to be honest, but his ERA is still high and he is still not that great of a pitcher. He's mediocre at best, which is why he's a #4.

Why? Byrd just isn't that great of a pitcher... he's a #4 starter, but when you have 4 great starters and Wakefield, I prefer Wake to Byrd.

Please refer to his SS thread.

You'll find a couple surprises.

You mean, you prefer the guy who gave up 4 runs on 7 walks and 5 hits in 5 innings to the Royals to the guy who just threw up a QS vs NY in the Bronx? I am sorry dude, Wakefield is a liability at this point due to his injury. Byrd was your only option.

Also, lets say Francona was gonna go balls out for the division. If Boston swept NYY, the yankees would have still been up by 2 games in the loss column with 6 to go for NY. 3 of those at home vs KC without Greinke and the other 3 in Tampa vs the lifeless Rays. Do you really think the yankees would have lost 2 of those games AND the sox would have swept the Jays and Guardians over 7 games? Cause that is what would have needed to happen. And, sweeping NY in NY with all their complements in place is a tough, tough task.

I know, that's a great thing. But still...

The way I look at this, the Yanks won the series. When we played them early on (3 or 4 games) when they didn't have A-Rod. Now they do and they crushed us. They are a different team without A-Rod (just like the Dodgers w/out Manny last year). They will be harder to beat with him.

Besides, we have not clinched yet. This was just a classic act of Francona throwing the series so the Yankees can win. Why is Byrd even still on this team? I'd rather start Bowden.

I read somewhere that Tito is also the cause of cancer, global warming, the extinction of the dinosaurs and the holocaust. Is it really neccisarry to chastise Tito for not winning a virtually meaningless game? what difference does it make if the yanks clinched yesterday today or tommorrow? it doesnt matter, it really doesnt.

Ahh...to take the ribbing from you guys when you were 8-0 against us....this is just desserts.

For the record, you didn't "take" anything from us. Whatever comments were made were not thrust upon you. This is a forum dedicated to the Red Sox. You elected to come here. Whatever comments you read earlier this year that you feel warrant karmic retribution were encountered only because of your desire to troll. Facts is facts.

You are the last person I would expect to use this lame reasoning. You typically have something witty to say in retort to gloating. But this is the standard drivel spewed by the masses. I expected better of you. Its a standard fall back for anyone who needs to eat crow on this site when served up by Yankee fans. "Well, this is a sox site, and you take s*** cause you're here!" To a degree thats true, but crow is crow my friend. I dont think you were the one dishing the majority of it anyway, but there are a lot of people on this site who doubted and gloated in April who have been silent since June. At the same time, over the top gloating and dishing of crow isnt warranted from either side.

It's not lame reasoning. It's the truth, and you don't like because it applies to you as well.

It's no cop out. Crow can go back and forth here for those who engage in taunting, but the act of "having" to "take it" is BS. "Have to" implies no choice in the matter. There's a choice, don't surround yourself with Sox fans.

In fact, if anyone has no choice, it's the Sox fans here. I'll guarantee some came here hoping to talk about their team with like minded fans, but they get stuck with douchebags like you.

Hey, one has to view his entire body of work to make that comment.

Read on.

Good luck.

Not really. Sure, it's not the outcome I wanted, but the amount it upset me requires quantum mechanics for measurement.

You want to know what's really sad? That on a day where enjoyment should come easily for you, you can't seem to find it without fooling yourself about how it makes me feel. Petty little man.

We s*** the bed because our seemingly constant 6 game defecit in the division finally amounted to being mathematically eliminated in the last week. What a clever little taxi driver you are.

No, you s*** the bed because you could have made it interesting with a sweep instead of getting swept.

LOL I LOVE IT

Coulda made it interesting with a sweep! Ah, two games back still. Then we watch the Yankees play 3 cake games against KC (with no Grienke), while the Sox play Toronto (and will see Halladay). So we're 3 back going into the final weekend and praying for Tampa to sweep you.

No, I'm fine with things as currently constructed. Wasn't it a wild card Red Sox team that raped the s*** of you in 2004 after being down 3-0?

Different team, my man. Remember, you beat us ONCE. A classic, no doubt. We've beaten you ever other time.

How about this? After being down 0-8, we ended up tying you 9-9.

JfC this is getting really lame. The Yankees ARE the better regular season team, the standings aren't an aberration. Postseason baseball is different and I think that closes the gap between the two teams, to the point where the Red Sox are better? Who knows. But I would take our top four starters over their top four starters.
