oh yeah this is the stupid game that got changed becuase of the jewish holiday. they shouldnt change the game just because of that one holiday. they play football on thanksgiving you dont see anyone complain about that one or christmas day football.

But on that day I believe you are not supposed to labor at all, in fact I believe some say you aren't even supposed to drive anywhere, so if you can work the schedule around to fit them in why not? It doesnt hurt us any.

Clearly you don't know anything about the holiday. Observant Jews wouldn't attend or watch the game because it would be after sundown. That's the issue.

ah thats it, I knew there was a good reason for it, I dont see why anyone should have a problem with it

Just from the games I've seen' date=' Swisher is a really bad baserunner.[/quote']

he left second just a hair too soon, he did leave too soon it was just really close. It wasnt the perfect example of how bad a baserunner Swisher is, he has had much worse base running errors.

fine i still think that one religion should not rule supreme over others. no games get changed in because of other religions.

You guys should watch him playing RF on a regular basis.

Dunn-esque.

That's not what's going on. It's just a question of setting the game so that Jews will attend (and pay to attend). Increasing attendance and revenue.

Adjusting to the market in order to maximize demand, in other words.

christmas day games. good friday. easter sunday.

The man has a point. But Christians by and large have a very different view of their holidays than Jews. Half of our holidays these days are just an excuse to do something fun -- like go to a game. So it's not really a fair comparison.

We just don't have that one, big, catch-all, defile-this-and-you-are-scum holiday.

If it was required for a christian holliday then Im sure they would do the same thing, unfortunately thanksgiving and christmas dont require a player to not do anything, and most of the players like playing on those days.

I'll leave Christmas out because it's not in baseball season. For the other two, why is there a reason to change game times? It's not about the fact that there's a holiday, it's about what the holiday calls for. For Yom Kippur one is not supposed to labor after sundown. This is not the case for the other holidays.

And the whole point was about making the game available to Jewish customers. So they'll, you know, pay to come to the game rather than have doing so be a violation of their religion.

There's nothing wrong with religious accomodation as long as it's profitable. We all got to watch the game. It's just that way the Jews do as well.

Why would a game being on christmas day stop me from watching/going/playing in it? there isnt a "christmas commandmant" which states "thou shalt not play football on the 25th of december for that ist my baby boys birfday."

which is CD's point. We americans just don't observe ancient traditions enough for people to get silly about accomodating them for us.

real christian believers still do. it is supposed to be. i bet the yom kippur is similar that not all jews follow the holiday.

So I suggest that Dice would be a good fit in Seattle because of the large Asian market and I get called a racist.

And "Adjusting to the market in order to maximize demand, in other words" for one race of people is not racist.

Interesting concept.

I bet A higher percentage of Jews celebrate Yom Kippur than Christians who fully observe good friday.

Investing in a player of another race so that "people like him" will come out to see him is the same thing exactly as altering the schedule of the game to accomodate a religious holiday.
