The legal excuse is exactly that' date=' an excuse. It's past the criminal statute of limitations.[/quote']

From that POV, the excuse isn't even needed, since steroid use wasn't illegal per se in '03.

Yes it was. It was against US law.

What accounts are those? How do we know that?

Well that is true........

If he lied about cheating, whose to say he's not lying about what he ingested and where.

Ortiz is a cheater. He can wait to gather any and all information. He was there when he cheated. He knows what he did. Only blind Sox fans cut him a break here.

The real schmucks in all of this are the owners. They realize the biggest gain when mental dwarfs like Ortiz "cheat". f*** all of them. Poseurs.

Baseball was a noble game when I became a fan. Now it's just a parody of WWE.

The Boston Globe, citing a "baseball source familiar with the Ortiz proceedings," reported Wednesday night that the Players Association has not and will not take the legal steps necessary to get possession of Ortiz's test results.

It remains unclear if Ortiz will try to seek his own legal counsel to gain that information. What is clear is that he is frustrated at the delay in gaining the results.

Ortiz will address the media today at 3:30 at Yankee Stadium. The press conference will be broadcast live by NESN.

Should be interesting.

Earlier this afternoon there was a report posted on NESN.com indicating David Ortiz would speak with reporters about his inclusion on the list of 104 players to have tested positve for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003. However, that report has since been taken down, and the Globe reporters at Yankee Stadium told us it was unclear if Ortiz would speak at all before tonight's series opener between the Red Sox and Yankees in the Bronx.

The situation should clarify itself within the next couple of hours or so. We'll pass along more information on this as soon as we get it.

According to a report on NESN.com, Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, who has been reluctant to speak about last week's New York Times report claiming that he is among the list of 104 players to test positive for Performance-Enhancing Drugs in 2003, will speak in New York this afternoon.

Today at 3:30 p.m., Big Papi will address reporters at Yankee Stadium. Coverage will air live on NESN and we'll have updates here during and after the press conference

Ortiz will speak tomorrow

David Ortiz and incoming Major League Players Association director Michael Weiner will address the media before tomorrow's game at Yankee Stadium regarding last week's report that Ortiz failed a test in 2003 for performance-enhancing drugs, according to MLBPA spokesman Greg Bouris.

Earlier today, there was a report and persistent rumors that Ortiz would talk to reporters this afternoon, but that turned out to be false.

right before the game is on FOX' date=' what a shocker[/quote']

What drama!

I think Papi is going to explain that he used supplements/shakes that had ingredients that caused a positive result. He will likely be evasive but must answer at least one question.

"Did you ever knowingly take a banned substance".

Maybe he is "clean"?

Not likely, but possible.

im suprised that Jeter and Pujols were the only names mentioned earlier in the thread that ppl believed to be clean, i would add Ken Griffey Jr. to that list, I honestly believe that he has never touched roids that to me is one player who i feel 99% sure about and only because i dont feel 100% about anyone.
