In the past, I would definitely be against a Buchholz, Bowden, Westmoreland trade for any player, but the Depression is going to put major downward pressure on player wages. The Red Sox shouldn't be worried about finding the money to replace Michael Bowden. They'll be plently of bargains available, and the Red Sox, still being one of the richest clubs in MLB, should have no problem filling their gaps.

Hey all....nice to see the team winning today. Hope they're back on track.... :)

Howdy young lady. How are the macros going?

Regardless' date=' Buchholz, Bowden, and Westmoreland wouldn't be an acceptable package for any of those pitchers to you?[/quote']

It's probably a fair trade talent wise but there are a number of reasons why I wouldn't.

First of all Halladay is getting older and is going to get huge money after next season. If I'm trading Buchholz, Bowden, and RWML then I'd want Halladay for much longer than 1.5 seasons. The price difference between the three prospects and Halladay will be huge. Plus can the Sox deal with two hugely priced pitchers in the rotation (Beckett being the other one)? Probably, but I'm sure they'd rather not especially when they have a guy with the talent of Buchholz as the other option.

Money does cure all. Except for the Yankees. We hope.

If they give up all that I'm sure they do whatever it takes to resign him.

I'm sure they would but there's the age/cost($)/and cost of talent that doesn't make this a favorable deal to me

It makes us favorites for this year and next year. Halladay seems like a horse to me who has no major injuries, I think he'll pitch effectively well into his 30s.

Maybe not. By 2011, the Sox may have another crop of major league ready prospects.

We were up in San Fran recently, got some nice ones. :)

Come on team, lets not blow this one. Strikes and outs, Bard, please.

I literally just turned on the game 3 seconds before they got the double play. I think you guys owe me one. ;)

Where the heck have you been?
