We could also keep Jason Bay and face a worst case scenario of losing him to free agency and enabling our somewhat competent front office to draft a couple of A prospects with the compensation picks.

That too, but it may end up risky.

Say he signs with the Yanks, who also sign Lackey(hypothetical), if Lackey is higher rated(last it was discussed he was close) then Bay. The Sox get the Yanks 2nd round pick and a Supp. Instead of a 1st rounder and a supp. Just playing devils advocate.

Holliday would likely get you the better picks, or might even have a good chance of re-signing. Unless the Yankees sign all 3 which is possible.

And if the Yankees do that we explore other options -- for example, Jermaine Dye has a chance of being a FA if he doesn't pick up his mutual option with Chicago. He seems likely to go back there but it is possible that he moves on.

Ya he might be a good fit short term. i know there are other options. You never know who might become available via trade. I was just showing there might be some reasoning behind moving Bay.

It is isn't it

So. Painfully. Obvious.

I like the idea of my 3 team deal. It's not too outlandish like some of my other ones are. And it seems to be reasonable. Who knows, Holliday could be revived playing in Fenway for a contender.

Well lets see. He strikes out 150+ times a year. Demonstrates no range in the outfield positivily a worse arm then Chad Pennington. That guy is a curse also. I remember the Mets traded him for Rick White, They went to the world series. In Pittsburgh the wrote him up every other day about him refusing to attack fly balls coming in by letting them drop.

Put it this way, You see Johnny Damon Matt Holliday or even Brandon Moss let balls drop in at the shoelaces? He has no guts and no passion plus he took Manny's spot hate him for that too lol.

Jason Bay is not getting traded' date=' please save those ridiculous proposals for WEEI or theremyreport.com.[/quote']

Why not? He isn't doing anything to help the team at the moment. He's a FA at the end of the season. And has turned down what the Sox feel is an aggressive extension offer. Why not move him 2 months early for someone who might actually help? Because he is "Jason Bay" and the Sox couldn't possibly win with out him? They have been winning without him since mid May. Besides 3B, SS and possibly Catcher. He's in the one position that the team could deal to try and help the current team with out moving or taking playing time from one of the core regulars(Youk, Pedroia, Ellsbury, Tek, Drew, Ortiz). I don't see them making a move for a SS. Maybe a 3B. But it won't be a high quality bat, it will be a platoon insurance guy. I doubt they make a move for a Catcher mid season. So where exactly should they try and upgrade?

I could see a Penny for Hardy swap(something close) if the Brewers decide Escobar is ready to take over at SS. But Hardy has his own ? marks.

Bay has fallen off in almost every category since the beginning of the season. Why should the Red Sox not look for a better replacement?

I seriously don't get the obsession with Hardy. I'm really not sure I'd trade Lowrie for him' date=' let alone Bay[/quote']

I wasn't advocating a Bay for Hardy deal. It was Penny for Hardy. But that is only if Lowrie can't hit, and the rotation was ok. I was saying Hardy this off season. He's struggled(I'm a fantasy owner as well) but has been hitting better of late. I think he still could be a positive for this team. But I'm willing to give Lowrie a fair try at it. Hardy could possibly pass thru waivers and be moved in August, who knows:dunno:

Where else could the Sox go though to improve? 3B? Ok I can be sold. But it will probably be for someone like Teahen that can platoon. If it's for an impact everyday guy, what will they be able to do with Lowell? 1B? There not moving Youk. They could move him to 3B obviously, but that raises the Lowell question again. 2B is pretty much tied up. CF looks to be Jacoby's. I think the Sox like him there. RF? There not trading Drew unless they eat his deal. Doubt it would be worth it. Catcher? I suppose they could make a move for V-mart that could split time at 1B/C/DH. But outside of him I don't see anyone they would want. So it brings me back to LF. Where the player isn't hitting, is a FA at the end of the season, has already turned down a contract extension that was considered an aggressive offer. :o sounds like the Sox have been here before:D. Although there doesn't seem to be an animosity between player and FO like with Nomar, so the situations are similar not exact.

I'm just brain storming here guys. If the Sox can upgrade in LF they should. It's not like he's Ryan Braun or someone.

This I believe the above statement would be the main cause of all your previous grievances in the post. That simple fact alone has cause you to over react. Bay is a better fielder then Manny, in almost every way(Manny did play the Monster well though).

How do you hate him for no "guts or passion" in the same post you praise your love for Manny? "Refusing to attack flyballs? How about "refusing to play the game"?

And this is coming from me, a guy advocating a trade of Bay.

We don't have any concrete proof. That was just speculation.

And without that, you just be profiling, and that's illegal.

i think its ridiculous to hold Bay up to the same standards as Manny, one of the best right handed hitters of all time and even if you do Bay has held up better than almost anyone could in that spot.

Agreed. Jacko wears his Yankee Blue tinted glasses some of the time, but we all do at one point(just some more then others;)). But Jacko's always got interesting thoughts and opinions, and that's what I look for most. He is willing to go out on a limb and completely miss the boat, and will come back for more:D

I like what Dutchy brings to the plate too. But I have seen plenty of posters start out good, get into pissing contest's with the few Yankees fans that are on this site and fizzle out quick. Hopefully Dutchy you don't fall by the way side.

makes you look like a genius now...nice prediction...

Tried to warn his dumb ass.

Bay should not resign with boston. He should sign with Pittsburgh, and I think maybe Toronto is a possibility.
