Actually from what I have read' date=' most think there will be multiple moves after the non waiver trade deadline. Simply because a lot of teams won't claim someone to block another team from getting them for fear they might get stuck with the added salary.[/quote']The Yankees have never been reluctant to block the Sox in the past. Added salary is no concern to them.

Remember when they tried to block us from getting Doug Mirabelli back? Now imagine a player that might actually materially improve the team.

Not all emergencies can be prevented.

Remember, if Lowrie hadn't been injured, we wouldn't even be talking about 3B depth.

This means that the team had the necessary depth, but the depth got injured, so calling up someone like Bates instead of pulling the trigger on a move that may backfire is the logical course of action.

And the Yankees will claim every player the Sox are interested in I suppose? Because they have obvious needs at 1B and 3B:rolleyes:

Are you ever going to stop fearing the Yankees?;)

The Yankees have a need at 3B, at least on the bench. A-Rod is still hurting a little, and needs regular rest just like Lowell does (they're only about a year apart in age and have similar injuries after all...)

If we go after a 3B in a waiver deal, the Yankees have every reason to stick their finger in.

Nut up you guys. Seriously. Yes the Yankees could block some of the players the Sox are interested. But I doubt even they will risk putting a claim in on every player the Sox try and bring in. Even they have limited space for players on their roster. And don't think teams will automatically pull their players back if claimed by the Yankees. i can imagine a lot of teams wouldn't mind dumping some salary later in the season.

Yes one 1 guy. There is probably 10 players(rough estimate) that could fit that role that may be available. The Yankees are going to put a claim in on all of them?

How about you list them because the reason I'm fixated on Teahen is he seems like the only half decent 3B who's clearly available.

*sits back and waits for the Scrub Patrol list that's about to be presented*

Good third basemen are not easy to find these days.

Yes, and Mark Teahen is definitely at the top of the heap when it comes to 3B excellence.

Yeah, because that's what I said, rather than, say, "half decent."

How about instead of snarking, actually contribute something meaningful to the conversation?

Something meaningful is waiting to see how will the walking wounded react instead of going out and bringing 200+ pounds of FAIL in Mark Teahen.

And i do believe there are better options, specially defensively, since you keep bragging about Teahen's defense in the OF, well, let's check his UZR/150 at 3B, which is the position we're primarily looking at here:

2005: -17.6

2006: 0.4

2007

2008: -23.9

2009: -9.2

I NEED to snark if you keep knobgobbling a player but haven't taken the time to check out his actual value for us, which defensively, is nearly ZERO.

We'd be better finding a decent 1B who can somewhat hit even if he is a bit more expensive.

Hell, contrary to a previous joke i made, i'm all for Adam LaRoche instead of Mark Teahen.

We don't need Teahen to play the OF, even though he's decent in right, we need him to play 3rd, since he doesn't have the offense to justify playing 1st.

So, if he's awful at 3rd base, why the f*** would we acquire him?

If you don't want people snarking at you, do your research, AND STOP SAYING THE SAME THING OVER 400 POSTS.

And good day to you, sir.

Why are we mentioning Bailey again?

As far as i'm concerned, Kotsay and Lowrie were depth for 1b/3b.

If you don't like that, then i honestly have nothing else to say to you.

I'd be happier with Lowrie at third if we didn't also need him at SS. Green is regressing to the his career levels (read: suck) and Lowrie can't play both positions at once.

Good keep your promise this time. You add nothing but incoherent nasty remarks anyway. If you are satisfied with Kotsay and Lowrie as sufficient depth for Lowell or some other injury, fine. I don't

Again, i'm all for getting someone to shore up the bench, but we need someone who can both hit worth his weight, and have solid defense.

The reason why i'm not trusting Teahen at all is not only his horrible defense at 3rd, but also the fact that the .347 OBP he's sporting is very much supported by his .292 BA, but he has a .344 BABIP, and that is unsustainable for someone who has a nearly 3-1 (67-27) K/BB ratio.

In other words, there are more versatile options, maybe not better hitters, but definitely better defenders.

What's this "old man" put down that you keep hurling about? You've got something against people older than you? Do you think that is okay.. you boob? Is that an intimidation technique ... you bully? Are you trying to menace me with this remark? Let's get this guy out of here. He has two speeds... nasty and insulting. He brings little to the table, and whatever he brings is completely overshadowed by the fact that he drags every conversation into the gutter. Do us a favor and go to your corner bar and fight with some drunks.

Ouch.

I've been called a bully and a boob by Taksox's resident baiter.

I shall now go and cry in my corner.

You complain about people's nasty attitudes towards you when you constantly bait posters into taking those routes with you.

I say we get you out of here. Your posts are nothing but 'this is only my opinion' baitfests.

Let's take a second and calm down here. This won't really get us anywhere we want to be.

Anyways, Doiji, let us leave the baiters aside and continue baseball discussion.

I'm thinking the Sox should wait a couple more days and see how the market finishes shaping up.

How some of the almost-contending teams do in the following days might make a couple more players available and improve the Sox's chances of landing a more versatile and well-rounded (albeit probably more expensive) option.

This is a public forum. Opinions are posted here. If your opinion is different from mine, I expect you to disagree, but you have no right on this forum to attack a poster because of a view that varies from yours. That's bullying. If you can't win an argument with calm, civil discourse then maybe your argument isn't that strong.

If you posted your 'opinions' without the constant baiting and jabbing, then this would have merit. You bring all the 'bullying' upon yourself, chief.
