If the Red Sox lose, it will at least take the sting out of this game.

One thing about Wang though...he usually throws his sinker at 93-95. Today, he's at 88-89. Wonder what's up with decrease in the velocity.

Thanks to Wang and the Big Unit, in fantasy, my whip is currently 4.07. s***...I'd hate it if that was my ERA. LOL!!!!!

The YES guns have been slow, I believe. And he doesn't get his sinker around 95 that often. That's an exaggeration. And who cares if the Red Sox lose, it's April 13th. That means absolutely nothing to me at the moment.

Are you watching the game? I'm not' date=' it just seemed odd since on GameCast it's literally down the middle.[/quote']

Weird, I'm on the ESPN one. As is shown in the screencap, it's in the middle quadrant of the plate. Whatever, no big deal.

that's great news for me because you're against me this week ..LOL

so why does girardi have wang as the #2 starter ?

Who cares what number starter he is? The Yankees would be crazy to think that he's better than Burnett, they just felt it would be in their favor to split up the two strike outs pitchers with a sinker baller.

With that being said, the Yankees clearly have a false perception of how good Wang really is. If they didn't, he would be on another team. If a player's perceived value is much greater than their actual value (which I believe is true in Wang's case), then that player should be traded.

EDIT: And I apologize for repeating myself, because I know I just started a thread saying many of the same things, but I'm just really pissed watching this unfold.

Yeah...but my hitting is also on fire with a .563 OBP. Baseball is a weird game.

With Wang is always a mechanical flaw.

Swisher pitched an inning.

He struck out Gabe Kapler with a 78 MPH changeup today. I'm still laughing. He was our best reliever today.

It is embarassing for everyone involved. What the f*** are the Yankees doing paying $205m-plus to have their utility 1B/OF pitch during the 2nd week of the season? I mean, seriously.

It's not really an uncommon practice to do that in games that aren't close, especially ones where your starter can only get three outs.

EDIT: I'm sure I'm not telling something you don't already know, I'm just using the explanation to justify what the Yankees did.

Alright, hopefully they win tomorrow night with Burnett going against Garza. It could probably go either way. And then I like our chances on Wednesday with Pettitte going against Sonnanstine.

It's embarrassing for Kapler. But let's face it: it was the highlight of the night for Yankee fans. Gotta give the fans something to cheer about...

I think Burnett is the best pitcher the Yaknees made this year. If he can stay healthy all season remains to be seen. i don't coun't Sabathia because he has an option to leave after 3yrs. Originaly he wanted to play close to home on the west coast and signed with the Yankees when the LA teams didn't up their offers. To me Sabathia really doesn't want to be there.

I'm not defending Jackson's point, just simply making my own...

Considering they don't have A-Rod and they only had Teixeira for four of the six games, I'm pretty happy with their offensive output up to this point. Obviously they haven't faced too much quality pitching, but considering the guys they've been missing, I'll take it

I don't know how much of a difference Arod will make. Maybe he will be a big difference maker once the Yankees have him and Teixeira batting behind one another. The big problem with the Yankees so far had been pitching. The same goes for the red sox. Both teams are off to crapy starts. The Yankees and the red saox with al their off season moves are 2 teams that look good on paper. Everyone bragged about bringing in Penny and Smoltz to go along with Beckett, Dice-k, and Lester. Then the Yankees spent 40 zillion on Sabathia,Burnett and Teixeira. Dice -k and Lester, along with Sababthia and Wang have all sucked. And Smaoltz hasn't even thrown a pitch yet. Not even sure how good or long he's going to be.

But you notice how the Tampa Bay Rays have the exact same team from last year and are dominating the east. I know it's early, but if that team is as tough as they are to play on my ps3, then they will probably be repeating as the Al champs.I still don't consider them a strong team when you speak of them, but they continue to kick ass. I think many people like myself don't give the Rays the respect of a feared team. When people speak of the elite teams in baseball today, they hardly mention the Rays. And then you look at the line score from some of their games and notice they're beating the piss out of everyone!

Tampa isnt exactly dominating but they are the top gun so far, come the end of september we know a 15-3 score is as good as 2-1.

Jon Lester has been disappointing to say the least this year and if you count his last grapefruit effort its 3suck starts in a row, 9 hits after 5ip against the a's is putrid.

is there a problem?

This kid had a 16-1 run at home till he met tampa in the 2nd start of the year.

When our 1-2s get beat on the road its painful and now the A's patient approach may have the dice man throwing his 100th pitch in the 4th inning, all hands on deck here.

No issues with Penny's effort, he pitched fairly well in his start, the only guy I am concerned about on the staff is lester and thats a huge concern.

Their bats on the other hand?

Well theres really no surprise here

based on the #s so far they're going to improve

but the key is at the top of the order, ells and pedroia need to be catalysts and theyve been off.

Ortiz Lowell and Drew have been awful, Youk looks like Mike Schmidts bastard offspring and is on fire ,bay has been consistant.

but it aint enuff.

Tampa and Anaheim have good staffs, i dont know that much about the guy who stuck it in our ass last nite but come on,we're a week in and are playing with all the flare and gusto of the soiled cum rag under jacksonians bed that has a picture of Arod on it.

Wheres the spark?

This is such a dumb argument. He very well might wish he is playing closer to home right now, but we have no idea, so why continue to talk about it? The relevant discussion pertaining to Sabathia is his poor first start against the Orioles and his nice second start against the Royals.

Yes, originally it was rumored that he wanted to sign with a west coast team, which was likely true, but according to him (with the help of the money) Cashman and co. changed his mind. So basically you're picking and choosing what to believe. You're choosing to believe that he wanted to stay on the west coast, but you're choosing not to belief that he has welcomed the idea of being a Yankee...

And Stinge, the Rays are dominating the division? There are so many things wrong with that statement. First off, they've played only seven games. Second, they're 4-3. Third, they're in third place. If they're dominating the division up to this point, I'd love to hear your opinion about what Toronto and Baltimore (who also took two of three from the Rays) are doing.

Also, A-Rod isn't going to make a big difference? Now if he's hurt, and can't perform because of his injury, then it's a different story. But if you believe what you hear, that his rehab is going well and he'll be able to play through it with ease, how can you say that a top three offensive player in baseball isn't going to make a big difference? The same guy, who, in large part, carried the Yankees offensively to the playoffs in 2005 and 2007.
