I'm not sure they should have went to Posada instead of Gardner, when Gardner won't hit into a DP.

EDIT: And awful job by Robbie swinging at two pitches out of the strike zone.

Well, I have to give credit where credit is due. That was a solid move to not wait for the catcher's spot before going to Posada. I thought they might get killed with a DP, but I was wrong.

Now, Brian Bruney (I'm assuming) trying to hold a two run lead is scary at best against the heart of the order.

What a shocker. Bruney can't throw strikes. I really hope he is not on the playoff roster.

EDIT: The only two strikes he threw were awful pitches. He got very lucky.

Great game. About sums it up.

The Stadium went crazy for Jeter tying the hit record...I wonder what will happen when he breaks it?

This will probably happen. http://blog.nj.com/yankees_main/2009/04/84658782CM028_CHICAGO_CUBS_.JPG

One last thing: I think joe torre is in this picture, I'm being serious!

There will be pandemonium when he breaks the record. They wont get off their feet for 5-10 mins. This is a pretty significant record. Being the all time hits leader in the best franchise in the history of sports is a pretty big deal.

I'll be there Friday, so it'd be nice if he gets it then. It's kind of funny because I was also at his 2000th hit.

The real problem is you can't tell if this was a good start or not. Three innings doesn't tell you much about a starter. He settled down after the first inning. If Girardi had thrown him out there for two more innings' date=' you'd have a much better idea of how he's pitching.[/quote']

Yeah these Joba rules and the 3 inning starts nonsense is ********. If you're gonna limit him to 3 innings might as well put him in the pen so the innings could be more meaningful, especially if he's gonna go to the pen in October, as Jon Heyman speculates based on a conversation with Cashman.

Honestly dude....you are dumb as s***. Seriously.

Those are the obstructed view seats. As you can see, there are TVs on the wall so that fans can follow what is happening due to the obstruction. No one sits in those seats except to rest for a few minutes. They all go on top of the restaurant and watch. Not a bad deal for five bucks. You get to sit and rest when tired, and walk around the stadium.

Seriously. You are dumb as s***.

Carry on.

Yo...we should meet up. I'm there Friday as well.

It still boggles my mind that no player has ever reached 3' date='000 hits in such a storied and old franchise.[/quote']

Why?

New York is a sub-human environment. Maybe it's just not conducive to longevity.

With all due respect to you and all that is Yankees, why, in this day and age, spend so much money on a stadium with obstructed seats? Fenway has obstructed seats, but was built in 1912!

No idea dude. I haven't figured that one out, and doubt I will.

26-6' date=' do you have a link to the Heyman article?[/quote']

He tweeted it.

Edit: and no, I don't use Twitter, I refuse to. I saw the link on a blog.

Honestly, it's not that significant. The current record holder had the same amount of hits in something like 500 less AB before his career was affected by ALS. When Jeter breaks the record he'll be less than 50th all-time in hits in the majors and he won't even be a top 10 Yankees player all-time.

Here's the deal. The Yankees want him to start for many a year in NY. He hasnt had a full season as a starter since college. He hasnt thrown this many innings, ever. And we want him to start at least twice in the playoffs if we end up making it that far. You have to think about the long term. Cause if we win the world series, but Joba blows out his shoulder, then you lose a massive long term asset when it wasnt really needed. I have a feeling they stretch him back out in his last 2 starts.
