Have to think that Marte has surpassed Coke on the depth chart. It's really nice to see him do well. Robertson is also looking very good. The guys after Rivera and Hughes have been impressive lately.

The Red Sox pen is still a touch better. However, you're talking about the two best pens in the league.

Also, I would still take the Hughes-Mo combo over the Oki-Pap combo. That being said, I think the sox depth allows them to be better prepared if they need to relieve their starter prior to the 8th inning.

I'll take Pap-Bard-Oki against Mo-Hughes- ? any day of the week and twice on sundays.

Our 8th and 9th IMO is a better tandem and the #s bear that out in spades. Throw Bard in that 7 hole and your 7th inning is better. But our 8-9 still is better.

Our bullpen, as a whole, is better.

Dont forget Billy The Kid.

And, like it has happened many a times before, the Yanks are the cure for everything that ails Halladay and Freddy Garcia is owning the Sox.

Some things never change.

I really don't see how throwing Joba out there for 3 innings is going to prepare him for the postseason... Cut the umbilical cord, already.

They plan on building his innings up by the end of the season. With that being said, if the Yankees make the playoffs, I don't see anyway he starts in the first round.

^ Good point. You'll probably take the long series' date=' so you'll go with CC-AJ-Pettitte. But does that mean AJ starts a potential Game 5?[/quote']

Well, that's not what I would do. If there is a game five, I do not want this team's entire season to rest on AJ Burnett. I would have CC in games one and four, Pettitte in games two and five, and Burnett in game three.

Ah right, I guess Pettitte makes more sense. But honestly, I wouldn't feel terribly comfortable with him in a game five either. Unless of course he continues his ridiculous streak he's had going since mid July.

I agree, but I would feel much more comfortable with Pettitte. Burnett is so shaky, and if he was to have one of his bad starts, the game could be over in the first few innings. At the very least, that is unlikely to happen with Pettitte.

True. It probably won't matter, since I don't see the Tigers taking that series back to NY.

Yeah, well, we'll see. The problem I have with facing the Tigers is that, in this playoffs, the Yankees are going to be in big trouble if they lose with Sabathia on the mound. Obviously the Tigers have someone that is very capable of matching up with Sabathia.

Really terrible decision there by Derek Jeter. The Yankees' defense has been very shaky today, which isn't a surprise as of late.

Without the three outs that Mariano would give you today, this is going to be a very tough game to win.

EDIT: Yankee pitchers have been way to wild today.

Nice double play. Downs had absolutely nothing and they let him off the hook. Now Bruney will try to protect a one run lead. I don't think the Yankees will ever learn.

A lot of defensive miscues.. unncessary at-bats and extra outs for the blue jays. Never a good combination.

Hard to even say if this was a bad outting for Mitre.. if the defense was solid, I'm sure the outcome wouldve been different for him. 7 runs, 5 earned so far.. but a lot of those runs dont belong on the board. Hate watching games like this.
