Another good game. The offense struggled against Rowland - Smith, but was able to get the big hit in the end. And Pettitte struggled early...but then remembered what team he was facing and dominated. It's nice to be able to win with A-Rod not in the lineup...but hopefully he's back sooner than later...

Got some huge breaks tonight, but it's great to win a game with Sergio Mitre on the mound. As bad as he has been, the Yankees, somehow, are 4-2 in the games he has started.

So the yankees even win when Meat Tray is pitching. Friggin awesome. 31 games over .500 and continuing to fly full throttle. Joba-AJ-CC for the next 3 with Gaudin finishing the west coast trip sounds like we could take 3 of 4. Really nice to be in pinstripes these days

Joba was all over the place today. The slider was useless, but his changeup actually looked pretty good. He's been nothing but inconsistent and maddening this yr, something I expect him to improve upon next yr

Joba, once again, was awful today. This rotation continues to be a concern.

Unbelievable that it was Gaudin facing Ichiro and Branyan, and not Coke. Girardi continues to make poor decision after poor decision.

Why is Swisher playing 1B and Hinske in RF? Isn't Swisher the better OFer and Hinske the better CIF?

Apparently they had asked Hinske when he first got here where he feels the most comfortable and he said in RF.

The bigger problem is that, with Gardner hurt, they don't have anyone else that can play CF. It really cost them last inning. The Yankees' outfield defense is truly awful.

Is Hinske joking. He should watch himself play the OF.

Game over. Yanks got Fistered. Yankee fans have to be happy with winning a series, but Joba has looked like s***. He had two good starts after the All Star break. I guess the rest helped him, but he has had 5 bad outings out of his last 7.

Joba may not have much of a shelf life in NY. The epitome of a million dollar body and ten cent brain.

Gom, not sure where you get that from. He's 23 in his first full yr of starting in the toughest division in baseball. He's erratic. Some innings, he looks untouchable. Others, he leaves balls over the plate and makes bonehead decisions. That is what young pitchers do. You gotta roll with the lumps in order to reap the reward. I expect 2010 to be a really big yr for him

Three good starts after the ASB. Joba has been very inconsistent this year, no question about it. However, what Joba did out of the bullpen in 2007 raised people's expectations to ridiculous levels. Considering this has been his first full year starting, it really hasn't been bad at all. I've had my share of complaints regarding Joba, and I think he needs to improve in a lot of areas, but he has the capability to be a front end of the rotation starter in this league. Lets just see, over the next few years, how this all plays out for him.

We know. Take away the specifics (age, issues, etc), and this is how you feel about every pitcher who will throw innings for the Yankees in 2010. It goes without saying.

They really need to drop A-Rod in the order. He has been pretty disappointing this year, and he is really hurting this team hitting behind Teixeira.

The Nick Swisher stupidity is really starting to get annoying. He had no chance to catch that ball, and gave Davis an extra base. And now Burnett chooses to ignore him at second.
