Heard this from a Yankee fan about today's game. In the Top of the 2nd' date=' with a man on 1st and 3rd and one out, a ground ball was hit back to CC who correctly threw to 2nd to start the 1-6-3 double play. What does Captain Intangibles do? He throws home (instead of 1st) where nobody is covering. Posada went to back up first. lol!!![/quote']

Yeah, I was there. Jeter made the absolute right play. Posada, who we are so much better with behind the plate, broke to first base because there was a runner on third who would never try to score.

We watched the last three innings at Billys across the street. It was just way too cold for a spring game, and more importantly, no beer after the 7th inning, and we got thirsty.

Posada should not have broken to back up first. You're absolutely right. If he stays at home plate, Giambi never attempts to score.

But just because one person makes a mistake, doesn't excuse another. Jeter should have been aware that Posada had vacated home plate. With Giambi running, it's not like Jeter had to make a split second decision.

And while we're assigning blame, if Sabathia doesn't throw the ball behind Jeter, they can probably get a double play at first. Posada made a mistake, but he wasn't alone.

Also called up Mark Melancon and David Robertson to replace Wang and Bruney. Ransom was placed on the 60 day DL and taken off the 40 man roster to make room for Berroa; and Humberto Sanchez, who was acquired in the Gary Sheffield deal and has since struggled with injuries, including recovering from TJ was released (not DFA'd, straight up released), opening up a spot on the 40 man for Melancon. Melancon won't be with the team until 5:30 this afternoon. better late than never I suppose, we may need him in those late innings.

Huge moves. Humberto was injured again and showed up out of shape. His time had come

Melancon hasnt even been challenged and Robertson has been very, very solid. Putting those two guys in the pen should help. We need both of those guys to step up while Veras and Ramirez figure it out.

He was. He had the wicked 1-2 combo that made scouts drool. But he is one of those examples of TJ failing. They say TJ has a 97% success rate. Those that fail dont condition themselves the way they are supposed to. I think it was obvious that fat boy wasnt into conditioning. He gained 30 pounds in the time we got him and just couldnt stay healthy. He had the TJ in ST of 2007. He missed all 2007. Then had to have loose bodies cleaned out of the elbow in 08. In ST of 09, he experienced shoulder woes which are reportedly structural and he may be headed for more surgery. Eventually, you cut your losses.

who is calling pitches tonight? 0-2 cockshot Inge hit out of the park foul. So, what do they do, they go fastball outside corner and he hits it up the middle. Inge is a dead red fastball guy. Throw one out of the f***ing zone or drop a deuce on him

CC Sabathia was dominant today. Too bad a couple balls were 3-4 inches out of reach or else this is a win. 8IP 6H 4ER 0BB 7K. Thats a dominant performance. Anytime a pitcher puts up a 0.75WHIP, he does hit job.

What I cannot wait for, is when ARod comes back. I know, I know, we need to be concerned with his hip, and I agree there. Not sure which ARod will come back. But regardless of which ARod returns, it has to be better than what we have right now. Lets look at some repercussions of ARod's absence.

First of all, the hole in the lineup. Ransom, Berroa and Pena have combined for...

14/73 1 doubles, 5 walks and 18Ks. Thats a .191/.243/.205 line. Thats a .448OPS. Wow.

Second, we are missing his production. Even if he doesnt come back the .950-1.050OPS player he was, lets say he hits to a .900OPS, he is such a significant upgrade over what we have in that hole, it isnt even funny.

Third, we miss his presence in the middle of that order. Tex has walked 13 times in 16 games. Plot that out over 150 games, and he'd walk over 120 times. That would be a full 23+ walks more than his career high. You add in ARod, subtract out he pukes we have in there and then factor in his lineup presence and this lineup all of a sudden gets a serious jolt.

due to 3 blowouts. When you give up 22, 16, and 18 runs in 3 games out of 19, then your ERA is gonna balloon. And 2 of those were starts by CMW. ANd on the topic of pitching, CC had a very, very strong game vs a solid offense last night. He was 4 inches either way on two well placed balls away from winning the game.

Those are the Bukake goggles he got from Arod who stole them from Madonna's apartment days after she blew the entire NBA East all star team.

This qualifies as justification for a s***** team ERA?

And enough with this "CC was dominant last night" and "CC had a very, very strong game". He allowed 4 runs. Have some f***ing standards. I'm not sure you want your $160 million man giving up 4 runs a start.

I just thought of something - if Hughes bombs tonight - guess who might be the next in line to hold Wang's place in rotation?

KEI IGAWA.....

Posted

If someone can go back in time to read Jacksons assessment of Kei Igawa before his 1st start then follow the thread to the point where he gets pulled, I assure you that you'll piss your pants laffing.

it went something like this

""Igawa has been dominant in his career and has a tricky fastball, a back breaking curve ball and a change that falls off the table, he'll win his big in pinstripes""

then

""f***ing ump is hosing him, why arent we getting the calls""

then finally

""This f***ing guy sucks, where the f*** is Torre, this guy cant get anyone out""

It was hysterical
