hit solid? I thought it would be hit too slowly for the DP. It certainly wasnt smoked

It was only close at 1B because Aviles has speed. That was hard enough to get through if it's in the hole.

CC is getting everything tonight as long as he hits Posada's glove.

He did a nice job getting out of that jam, with an assist to the home plate ump on the strikeout.

Um' date=' Mr. Girardi, yeah, that Swisher guy, he should be a full time starter[/quote']

He is basically better than Nady in almost every way, with the exception of Nady's career year last year...

Gordon had a point, that was a gift.

yep. 93-97 hitting the corners keeping it down

This sounds like an unsubstantiated baseballism. Any time you like a pitcher (ie someone pitching for the Yankees) you say "he's keeping the ball down", and any time you don't like a pitcher (anyone pitching for the Sox) you say "he's not keeping the ball down".

It doesn't pass the smell test. He's using the whole strikezone, like any good pitcher should. Quality strikes aren't exclusive to the lower part of the zone. Up and in is quite a good location because it's tough to handle.

Here's his location by pitch type.....

Can we let this baseballism die, please? Or at least, only apply it do pitchers that it makes a difference for, like sinkerballers and knuckleballers.

See ORS' date=' maybe I just need to point things out to you more often. I was implying that he isnt leaving every ball up like he was in his last start[/quote']

You mean this one? Jesus Christ, they're so f***ing different! No, the less you attempt to point out, the better.

This is changing your statement. Before it was "keeping the ball down" vs. "too many pitches up", not "grooved right down the middle". I'll I asked was that the baseballism die. You are closer to agreeing with me than you know it.

Do I need to specify absolutely everything. Its a hell of a lot easier to say he's keeping the ball down. Obviously, if he's throwing 98 over the letters when ahead in the count, thats good. But 98 over the plate belt high doesnt get the job done. Thats leaving the ball too high in the zone. So yes, CC is hitting the corners more with his fastball and is not leaving it down the middle as much. But I say that a ball down the middle is too high IMO. Live at the knees, go up when you want to. Dont leave the ball up, read as dont leave the ball down the middle

Gee, and I figured it would just help if what you said was actually what you meant. What a silly concept.

I wouldnt be opposed to Pena at SS and Jeter at 3b

When exactly do you expect this to be a realistic option, regardless of whether or not it makes sense?

Yeah, Pena is better than A-Rod. He deserves to play SS.

CC appears to be running out of gas a little bit. He doesn't seem to have the same control as he did in the first few innings, and he has given up some shots. Considering it's his second start, it's definitely not a big deal.

Yeah' date=' but it's still a huge improvement over his last outing.[/quote']

Oh absolutely. I wasn't really talking about it as a negative. I'm happy about what I've seen from him tonight.
