And Edwar Ramirez will be out at least 3 days due to the bursitis in his right shoulder.

So after yesterday's game in Dunedin in which A-Rod homered, the Post is reporting he left the Stadium in an SUV with his cousin Yuri Sucart. There is no word on how accurate the report is, but it's out there.

Brett Tomko started and went 2 innings giving up just 1 hit. No runs, walks, strikeouts. Upon his signing he was issued number 53, but prior to yesterday's spring opener he and Melky Cabrera switched numbers. Melky will now be wearing 53 while Tomko wears 28. I know Abreu was close with the young guys like Melky and Cano, but idk if that has anything to do with Cabrera's desire to switch.

I think if Tomko can pitch well this spring he has an outside shot of making the team and serving as a good long reliever. That would allow Phil Coke to be more of a lefty matchup guy during the middle innings while Marte focuses mainly on setting up. Hopefully he can continue to pitch well this spring.

Igawa also pitched yesterday throwing one inning and giving up just one hit while striking out 1, walking 0.

Here's former Sox catcher Kevin Cash running out a hit yesterday in the game in which he went 2-3 with a STOLEN BASE. lol

The Yankees were of course sporting their new away BP/Spring jerseys with new York across the chest in Gray outlined in white. Sorry for the large pics, I usually try to find better sized pictures, but this was all I could find really.

The Yanks get ready to open up their spring home schedule today at GMS Field against the Rays, beginning in about a half hour. Phil Hughes will start, which I am looking forward to seeing. Behind him will be Phil Coke, Brian Bruney, Damaso Marte, Jon Albaladejo, and Mark Melancon.

Today's Lineup:

Johnny Damon LF

Derek Jeter SS

Mark Teixeira 1B

Alex Rodriguez 3B

Robinson Cano 2B

Xavier Nady RF

Jorge Posada DH

Jose Molina C

Melky Cabrera CF

A-Rod is seriously a f***ing clueless moron if thats true

EDIT: Saw this article on ESPN.com about it

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says the matter of Alex Rodriguez being picked up from his spring training opener by his cousin "has been handled."

Facing renewed questions about Rodriguez's associations, Cashman gave a vague reply before New York's home spring training opener Thursday.

A day earlier in Dunedin, Rodriguez homered and walked twice before getting into a SUV driven by Yuri Sucart, who has been identified as the cousin who provided Rodriguez with performance-enhancing drugs obtained in the Dominican Republic. Rodriguez admitted using them while playing for Texas from 2001-03.

Rodriguez received mostly cheers with a few boos mixed in Thursday. The crowd included Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.

Brian: Alex, it really isn't a good idea for that cousin you said supplied you steroids to be driving you home from the game.

Alex: ....

Brian: Try to avoid being seen with that cousin you said supplied you steroids because you know....there's media and stuff....

Alex: Sorry, I was young and stupid yesterday.

No s***' date=' but still, it is Canada.[/quote']

News Flash:

Today, in Canada, it's March 5th.

Knock Canada all you want, but they have some legit players. Bay, Morneau, Votto, Teahen, Martin, Koskie. That's a formidable lineup.

I know it doesn't mean a thing, but I did laugh when I saw Canada was beating NY 6-0.

Are they playing the game on ice?

Is that compared to an "Old Flash"?

On any given day, on any type of calendar, Canada sucks.

The obvious continues to evade you.

No doubt they have a good lineup. But initial reactions to seeing Canada beating the NY Yankees is kind of funny.

No, I know they have a good lineup, and my initial question wasn't serious. Just rubbing it in that their "future ace" just s*** all over himself to America's hat.

Typo, I meant News Flash.

The obvious? IT IS MARCH 5TH. How more obvious can it be?

I watched Joba the other day. His fastball was 88 MPH. I wonder why...could it be...it's March? Early March?

Nah..that would be....obvious.

Another year of no playoffs. No way the Yankees can make up the loss of Arod unless there is a major injury to other players on the Sox/Rays.

Another quiet October under Cashman's watch.

This coming from the man who threw the towel in on the 09 season for the Yanks in the Arod surgery thread...

Yup. A player having a bad appearance in May is one thing.

Losing your best player for four months when you are neck and neck with the other two teams is another.

You're an idiot if you can't see the difference.

Your an idiot if you don't know the difference between 4 months and 6-8 weeks.

SI.com reporting 6-8 weeks.

Ease back on Gran Pappys cough medicine

But if he is out for 4 months, yes that is an issue. But I'm not really sure where you got 4 months from?

Cashman said if A-Rod needs surgery during the season for his torn labrum, which will need surgery eventually, he'll be out 4 months

And Canada beat the US in the last WBC...

I apologize Gom. I had not yet read anything about it being a torn labrum, just a cyst. Upon learning this knew info, I agree with you, 4 months is a long time to be without Arod.
