Slice it and dice it however you want, but your reason was one bad month. In 5 of 6 he was below the bar. Whether or not I agree or disagree is immaterial. Personally, I think he hits just north of .300 with an OBP under .330. That doesn't mean your stated reason for your conclusion has any value.

Jacko...if he hit .294 outside of April...he's not a .300 hitter. Can he be? Absolutely. Your argument is weak though.

The yankees pitching has been stellar this spring. Our starting 5 have all been pretty close to on their game right up to the start of the season. Maybe, just maybe, we'll start out winning this yr

If we don't, we're dead. Period. Tampa and Boston are simply too good to catch if we fall ten games back in May.

However, with this pitching staff, I'm pretty confident that we'll be neck and neck with the other teams in the AL East. We get a boost in May with Arod, they get one with Smoltz in July.

I like what I see out of our biggest FA acquisitions also. Sabathia has not only been pretty solid in the spring, but he has taken a leadership role with Chamberlain and the other young guns. Everyone says he's a fantastic teammate as well. And Tex comes in with a lot of expectations, then gets more heaped on with ARod being out and he finishes with the best AVG, HR, and RBI total in the spring as well as two homers in yankee stadium on the last day. This team is firing without the distraction that is ARod. Lets see how we do when he gets back. If the team is able to avoid the circus, they could be really good. I have a very good feeling about this team.

And on AJ, if he is healthy, he is filthy. He is untouchable.

By nature, the 25th spot is always in flux. He's only there until Arod comes back.

What I am interested in is if he's put in there as a defensive replacement for Jeter.

Pena will wear number 19, btw.

Idk, this team could be very good but I'm just not as optimistic as jacko, there are too many ifs and question marks if you ask me. We'll see how everything hold up though, im just excited the season is about to start.
