The irony is that while the ticker on the bottom of MLB network is commenting on A-Rod's steroid indescretions, MLB network is showing the 2004 Home Run Derby:

Sosa

Bonds

Berkman

Ortiz

Thome

Blalock

Palmero

Tejada

In terms of being clean over the past 20 years, this game is f***ed and each reminder is more painful than the last. It's fun to rip on A-Rod, but he's one of many. I'm willing to bet that ALL of the participants of the 04 derby used at some point in their careers.

Agree 100%...each of these players was on my list of posted suspects at some point.

This is really stupid.

LETS MAKE AROD PAY, O WAIT SOME1 GOT MURDERED? DONT MATTER THE EVIL MENACE STERIODS IS RAPING UR DAUGHTER, KILLING YOUR CHILDREN, AND MAKING MEXICANS CRAZY! IT COULD HAPPEN TO U OR U OR U OR U OR U!

Hey, you make a good point, BUT this is the way of the world nowadays. Knowing this is how things work, the decisions we make, the mistakes we make, and how we own up to those mistakes is crucial...you know it, I know it, and f*** me but the professional athletes HAVE to know it.

Yes, ARod's steroid usage pales in comparison the the econcomic crisis, the war in Iraq, the plight of oppressed people across the globe...

but HE made his bed, and then he lied in it...he f***ed himself.

Even though I don't care about steroids, I think ARod should be dealt with by Major League Baseball. Tarnish his records. Suspend him for a year. Make him the poster child of what happens when you use steroids. (Shaming him, not the billionaire part)

The fact that the Feds are pissing away our tax dollars, and pretending to be important by holding Capital Hill hearings all over something that MLB can deal with internally, makes me infinitely more angry than any steroid user.

The steroid saga is rapidly turning into a "Reefer Madness" like witch hunt. It's an embarrassment.

The tax dollars wasted on this are minimal when compared to other s*** that goes on in Washington. Would I like my elected politicians focusing on something else? Sure. Problem is they either won't or it'll be something else totally fkn ridiculous or they'll simply mismanage the important stuff.

We paid Sen. Chris Dodd to Chair the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. How'd that f***ing work out? Sleeping at the wheel.

We paid Bernanke to head the Federal Reserve and he helped bury us in the current crisis. The answer can't always be easy money...sleeping at the wheel.

We pay elected officials to curb illegal immigration, secure our borders...yet administration after administration does nothing.

This seems to be a time when you choose to rail on "the Feds", when "the Feds" wouldn't need to do anything if the players association didn't refuse to get off its ass and have a higher standard for its players and their game. The fans are also accountable for still paying attention to something that we all acknowledge is tainted. I don't think the Feds WANT to be involved, but if nobody is manning the ship and the players are making millions and acting as role models for a generation of new cheaters, I don't have a problem with someone trying to kickstart some responsibility into the league.

I agree with you that it is well outside the scope of the government's role, but I also think this is another example of something you love to point out whenever available--even if someone else is ultimately reponsible for letting it get to this point.

Mike Francesa (WFAN) was saying today "we're going to talk a little football then do some basketball, as we await how ARod's story continues to unravel."

Mike, like me, is adamant that ARod has not told anything near to the whole truth, and it's like he plans a segment of his show for the next round of inconsistencies.

Posted

Yes he does.

So what comes out today? ARod is connected with a Ukranian steroid ring? ARod was sleeping with his cousin? ARod has a penile implant? ARod gerbil dances?

All of the above, perhaps.

IMHO, the problem, A-Rod is trying to do what no human being has ever been able or ever will be able to accomplish, and that is to be loved by EVERYONE, because no matter what you do, or how well you do it, there're always some who will dislike you, envy you, hell, even hate you, and using steroids to improve your numbers to be the best player in baseball because you want to be loved by the fans, other players, the media, and live up to that ridiculous contract was never the answer, however, since it was common practice at the time he "was" using, perhaps he is a bit of a victim of circumstance, but if he was, why not just man up and admit it a la Giambi or Pettite?.

Why A-Rod refuses to acknowledge that he is less than perfect and makes mistakes like any other human being would is beyond my scope of comprehension, but hey, we've seen bigger idiots (Barry Bonds says hello) who think themselves to be even more super-human than A-Rod, yet even he never came as such a fake, plastic, and childish person........so much for a role model for the next generation, forget his steroid use, it's everything else about that makes him less of a role model and more of an avoid-model.

I know that this story has died down but I came across something not exactly related to ARod, but to the PED issue itself, and this was the most recent thread discussing PED's.

Anyway, I'm talking to a guy at work, a big bastard, strong as an ox. I know him well and know he's used stuff in the past (he used to compete) so I kidded him saying I wondered if he was using the same sh*t as ARod.

No he says, "I just go to this website and buy designer pro-hormones, they're legal and they work."

So he says look here and pulls up a website where you can buy all of these pseudo-steroids. Remember Mark McGwire and the whole andro deal? Well apparently andro is illegal, but scientists have come out with a bunch of other steroid precursors that are stronger than andro but which have a slightly different chemical make-up so they're not outlawed yet. This guy swears by them.

Now I have no idea if these "supplements" would trip an MLB drug test or not but if not, there is a ton of crap out there that can still be bought OTC and which would require nothing more than a PO box and a credit card. The reviews of this stuff sound like they're legit...shrunken nuts, bitch tits, acne experienced by some users...classic 'roid signs.

The fact that this stuff is so openly available and that MLB still can't test for HGH tells me there are still going to be a lot of players using, staying one step ahead of the drug policy.

I suspect ARod will be one of them.

Alex Rodriguez may have bulked up with steroids as early as high school - and was suspected of juicing while playing for the Yankees, a bombshell new book reports.

Although the slugger insists he dabbled in steroids only while with the Texas Rangers, the book "A-Rod" strongly suggests he didn't give up performance enhancers when he came to New York.

Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts, who broke the story that A-Rod flunked a steroid screening in 2003, reveals fellow Bombers nicknamed the third baseman "B---h T--s" in 2005.

That was after he put on 15pounds in the off-season and seemed to develop round pectorals, a condition called gynecomastia that can be caused by anabolic steroids, she writes.

In one shocking disclosure, the book accuses A-Rod of "pitch tipping" when he was with the Rangers - letting a friendly opponent at the plate know which pitch was coming in lopsided games.

Rodriguez expected players he helped would do the same for him when he was having an off night and needed to get his batting average up and it wouldn't affect the outcome of the game.

I will never called A-Rod anything other than bitch tits again

The man has disgraced the Yankees, the game of Baseball and his own family.

Sure hes going to make 500M playing the game but at what point do you sacrifice being a ballplayer to become a douchebag?

for 500 million dollars I would be the world's biggest douchebag

I am actually more appalled at the pitch tipping than I am at the roids. Once you admit to roids, putting a timetable on it doesnt really help you. And as with most elite level talents, you get access to roids when you are 15 or 16. Hit the gym locally, weightlifters know who you are, want to give you a little boost and if you make it big, you owe them at least a reference. Its a known thing. I wasnt an elite level talent coming out of high school, but I was pretty good. And I could have roided easily from the time I was 14 in AAU. So if a guy who is obviously going to the pros has the shot to make it a no brainer to the bigs, then why the f*** not? Ask ARod when he's done if he would do it again? I bet, in a candid moment, he'd say absolutely. Where else could he have made this much money. Set his family up for life all the way down the line what maybe 500 years? Just off his salary. He's a douchebag. If I went to high school with him, I would have tried to kick the s*** out of him. But, he's a great ballplayer, fake or not. And we need him back. The media is trying to keep this story going, but I think the general public is numbed to the idea. Everyone's roided IMO. I have a couple of teammates, one of which who made it to the bigs, who I absolutely know used. I watched them use. Its everywhere. But its ARod, so why not keep the story going.

It's not so much the using part of the story that the media is trying to keep going, it's uncovering proof that directly contradicts what A-Rod said publicly. It goes back that press conference when he said he never knew what he was taking or whether it was legal but then said he knew "we weren't taking tic-tacs".

But I agree, the most jarring news in that story is tipping off opposing players to the pitches that are coming. That's a pretty mind-blowing accusation to make so I'm sure Selena Roberts crossed her Ts and dotted her Is before throwing that out there and that's a pretty suspendable thing to do if it can be proven.

Does this not completely explain all the junk-time HRs? Anyway, I already knew he was a lifetime user.

There are plenty of players who haven't used, Jacko. Just because your beloved Yanks don't fall into that category doesn't mean you should incriminate everyone else and say it's excusable because of the incentive of money. You can be ambitious without being a dick. A-Rod is a despicable human being, plain and simple.

I think Canseco was on the money when he said 70% used?? was that his #??

Anyway i look for consistancy breaks in power to determine my suspicions and then the sure to follow injuries that occur when a guy gets off the cycles.

I got a guy that kill any urine test given with his magical pills but blood and hair testing is now out and

its hard to get around this now a days when they do test.

they made a fake penis to carry someone else's urine. These are the lengths that these so-called "clean" kids go to so they can stay "clean". Like I said, I know a good amount of guys who got drafted, and I know for sure that all but 2 of them were dirty. And the only reason why I was unsure about the other two was because I never played on their team.

Jesus

Ive heard of reverse catherta's (sp) that inject someone elses urine into your cock.

Bitch tits? I wonder if we'll see a different physical appearence from arod upon his return, hanging skin, loss of hair, powerless yet making 27M per...What a douchebag
