Who the f*** are you? J.P from Angels in the Outfield?

10 mil, same thing he's been making the past 3 years

No, I just think he'll do better than last year

Beckett? I think he has a team option for 2010

Which vests if he makes 26 starts IIRC. In other words it's a borderline contract year and circumstances beyond his control could render him a free agent.

We've at least got hopes that he might put on a contract year showing hoping for an extension.

I think Jed has been slated to be the long term solution at SS all along. They where most likely playing Lugo to up his value on the trade market. Since he is unable to get off the shelf, a trade is going to be all but impossible. Unless someone loses their starting SS early on.

I think they'd be satisfied with Lowrie as their long-term solution at SS but it wouldn't stop them from actively persuing Hanley for example if he became available

Oh no doubt BS21. There are a few choice SS in the league that I think they would bring in if they became available.

Is it too much to keep my fingers crossed that no one shows up to Marlins and Brewers games so that we could see Hanley and Braun in a Red Sox uniform?;)

It would take a king's ransom to get Hanley though. I think he's locked in for the next 6 years with a ridiculously affordable contract considering his production

Maybe for a financially stable team. But yes it will probably take a decent sized package. But this is all hypothetical situations though.

No, not much of a loss there. Even without Littleton have as many as 9 major league caliber relief pitchers right now if you count Masterson and Jones (10 if you count Bard)

Looks like our April bullpen is going to be:

Pap

Oki

Saito

RamRam

MDC

Lopez

Masterson

If Masterson stays in AAA as rotation depth I don't know who takes that spot, but I doubt they'd let Littleton go if they didn't think they had an answer.

Would like to see Jones edge out Javier Lopez as I prefer an innings burner to a LOOGY but I don't consider it likely.

I'm not really surprised that Littleton is gone. Although it was only Spring Training, I still haven't been impressed by him, and he was never considered a ringer. What I am surprised by is Ramon Ramirez...well at least it's only Spring Training...

Do we still have to pay Littleton, and if so how much?

I also don't understand the above sentiment(s) towards Lopez. I'm probably biased for him, but he's been one of the few relievers I haven't seen question marks with. His numbers have been good and consistent, so I don't see any reason/logic behind replacing him. It can't be his personality/lack of personality, and it can't be the money...

His numbers are really misleading, IMO, and a result of how he is used.

I run out of fingers and toes if I count the amount of times he came into a game and walked the first batter he faced. He was extremely guilty of creating a jam that didn't exist before in close games, and then having a better reliever come in and clean up his mess. His exiting LEV (leverage index) was higher than his coming into the game LEV. Luckily, the rest of the BP was good, so 83% of the runners he put on were stranded on base last year. He's completely overrated, and he's dangerous because he's been around for a while, which means Tito will trust him.

Jed Lowrie is destroying baseballs in Spring Training.

.406/.459/.781/1.240 in 32 AB's.

Julio Who?

Double and a homer tonight. It's only the 3rd inning.

He's got the game to be a top AL shortstop in the near future. Him and Pedroia up the middle will be a huge asset.
