Enjoy those 2 world series titles. Still halfway to what I have seen over the past 13 seasons.

The embodiement of a Yankee fan...it's as if YOU won the title, or were somehow connected, or somehow benefit concretely from the success of a team of players who don't know you, don't care about you.

What's next? A Buckner joke? A Bucky reference? Or the oh-so original 26 Rings ********?

So to all the gloating Yankee fans, go jerk off to your Jeter bobbleheads, shove your ARod action figure up your ass and chant 27! 27! 27!...win or lose I'm a Sox fan, I'll support my team regardless and I'll certainly keep the whole issue of ML baseball in a perspective different than yours. Understand, it's nothing personal, though.

There is seriously whacked out s*** on this site today and ever since Tex signed with us.

First and foremost, if the Sox had signed MT, the seriously whacked out stuff would be on the Yankee's discussion boards (and most of us here would never know, since we don't visit them.) It's the nature of fans to rationalize and do a little "fox and the grapes" kind of thing. If the roles were reversed, you would be on here posting about how the 5 year 100 mil the Yankees would have thrown at Manny Ramirez was utterly brilliant.

What did you really expect on this forum? A parade of suicidal fidgets fighting over the poison? I don't consider myself one of the true baseball-knowledgbile members of this site – I hold my own, but there are many who are just plain thinkers... How many of the sharpest contibutors here have said anything but praise for Teixeira's talent. (His taste, of course, is another matter.)

The idea that you would spend 20 minutes writing a post that argues why Mark Teixeira is better that Mike Lowell tells a story that really needs no comment. Tomorrow you can post and explain to us Pepsi is a better drink choice than Liquid Plumber.

Anyone who answered "no" to your poll is lying or trying to annoy you. But you knew that already.

The embodiment of a yankee fan? I believe I was responding the jeers of not winning anything this millenium' date=' like we have been cellar dwellars.[/quote']

In 2002, when you hadn't one won 2 years, Yankee fans insisted that three years ago was the key time frame. When you haven't won in this century, you say that 13 years is the golden denominator. If the Yankees win this year, we'll go back to hearing the sum total of rings and suggestions (when we mention that the Sox have two rings this decade) that we stop living in the past.

So, yeah. I'm with Rican Blast on the whole "embodiment" thing. He's on his own with that A-rod action figure stuff, though.

Yankee Fan(Yankeedoduhlus glotus-maximus),

- a rare breed indeed. Although having all the same traits as their cousin " Normal Fan", the Yankee fan has been known to self gratify it's self at an alarming rate. Infact the only time it is known to be at a quiet hibernative stage, is in the beginning of October. Which happens to be about the time, all that self gratifying blows up in there face.

Yankee fans can be seen grazing in fields of hope in mid to late November. It is still unknown where the Yankee fan goes when it hibernates. The Yankee fan cycle may not be like clock work, but a sun dial at the very least. It is usually fairly easy to tell what time of year it is by it's actions alone.

what the f*** has mark texeira done to earn the 2nd biggest contract in baseball??

he is kevin youkillis,an above average offensive player that the sox wanted and anytime the sox want someone the yankees will sell their souls to get him...hes the only guy the sox wanted this offseason so the brothers fredo,as they did with arod, sold their proverbial souls and got him..

good

what the f*** does arod have to show for his time in ny outside being known as the biggest gag artist since jacksonian blew himself after game 7,2004??

every year the yanks put together an allstar team that ends up falling flat on its ass becuase its front loaded with underproducing, overpaid douchebags and if you look down the line at this club i see much of the same.

sabbathia??

he dominated in milwaukee and that is awesome however

we owned his ass when it mattered when he was with cleveland and his shaky beginings wont go well in front of his new fans,i figure he'll be back page fodder before the 4th of july.

burnett??

never put 5 good starts together never mind 5 f***ing years.

hughes kennedy joba??

please, bartolo colon won more games than hughes and kennedy last year and joba is in a tight race with sabbathia for the 1st guy to the disabled list.

its all about pitching and ny still is gambling on a staff of the obese, the physically challenged and damaso marte as a set up guy.

too bad our general manager wasnt capable of doing a goddam thing this offseason except put money in the pockets of his masters, which in essence is his 1st priority.

I agree. It'd be pointless to argue that Lowell is superior to Teixeira offensively. And Lowell may have intangibles, but they don't make him a better hitter.

It sounds like he just wasn't interested in Boston. He wanted to be Yankee the whole time, and Boras was quoted that Teixeira didn't take the best offer financially. So if he wants to go there, let him go there. I wasn't devastated by it anyway. Disappointed, but not devastated.

All that tells me is that he really didn't want to go to Washington. Either way, I'm passed it. We have an above-average lineup as is with a good rotation and a good bullpen. We'll be fine.

I guess the year 2000 was not considered part of the current millinium or century.

Oh and Red Sox fans don't ? You can't stand there and say that they don't. Like it or not the fans of both teams are carbon copies. We bleed blue and you guys bleed red, just the way it is. I'm damn glad to be a Yankees fan and i hope your glad to be a Red Sox fan, even though your team sucks!! (LoL)

Every century or millenium starts with 1. The history of our current A.D. calendar started with the year 1 not the year 0.

There is seriously whacked out s*** on this site today and ever since Tex signed with us.

1. For those who would rather hang onto Mike Lowell rather than sign Mark Teixeira, you are on crack. Some cite his intangibles. Well, Lowell has played on 3 playoff teams in his career. In 03, when he had an .880OPS but batted .196 in the playoffs. In 2007, when he was WS MVP and had an OPS of .879. And 2008, when he had a .799OPS and was 0 for 8 in the playoffs. So, one solid postseason, one awful one and one injured one. And only 3 appearances in his 10 yrs in the league. Lets look at Tex. In Texas, Mark had no chance at the playoffs. But each time he was dealt, he jumped up in the standings and had a playoff shot. In 07, he had a 1.019OPS after being dealt from the last place Rangers to the Braves who were 4 out. In 08, he was dealt from the Braves (who were 14 games out I believe) to the Angels who were leading their division, and he had an OPS of 1.081. Both times he was thrust into a possible playoff situation he thrived. How did he do in his one series in the playoffs? 7 for 15 with 4BB. Not bad. The whole intangibles thing is ridiculous and I think we can see that Mark, just like Lowell, steps up when winning is on the line. Couple other things

- Tex is FAR and AWAY better than Lowell offensively. Lowell's career OPS is one point less than Tex's career worst OPS. Lowell has hit 30+ homers once in his 10 yr career, Tex has done it 5 of 6. Lowell has reached 100 RBI 3 times in his 10 yr career, Tex has done it 5 of 6. Tex's second worst season of his career (.885OPS) was better than Lowell's career best season (.880OPS). It isnt even f***ing close.

- Tex, right now, is a better defender at his position than Lowell is. Factor in age and injury as well as Lowell's dip in D over the past 2 yrs, and you have a player who is rapidly approaching average to possibly below average depending on how that hip heals

- Tex is 6 yrs younger

- Lowell is coming off surgery on his hip that was rather involved.

get the point. By saying that you want to keep Mike Lowell instead of Mark Teixeira is either blind stupidity or post signing revisionism.

2. Not signing Tex is GREAT because Lars should be ready by 2010 or 2011!!11!

First of all, Lars is a solid talent, but his upside is Tex, so the likelihood is something less than Tex. Also, you didnt have to give up Lars to get Tex. You could have both! And with papi coming off the books after 2010 or 2011 (depending on if the sox exercise the option) then you have a spot for Lars. Or, god forbid, you could move him to the OF or deal him for another need.

3. The only reason with some validity is the money aspect. But at the same time, you cannot really use it when talking about the sox. They cut their payroll by 50mil and are now intent on pocketing it. I am sure the media will be spinning stories about how the sox are trying to make a deal and are gonna use that money. But the fact remains that they got cheaper while charging the same amount.

The bottom line is, those who wish to try and downplay the Tex signing by saying he isnt better than what the sox had are in denial. Those who dont want to block Lars could have sought solace in the fact that the DH spot would open up or he could be an OFer. And those who fret about the sox money could have been happy to know that the sox still could have been 20mil below their 08 cap number after signing Big Mark.

So that leaves me with this poll. If the sox had signed Mark Teixeira for the 7 yr 180 mil figure that the yankees nabbed him for, would you have been happy. Yes or no.

The Yankees are litterred with playoff chokers and has-beens...King Choker being A-rod. CC is a playoff choker...Cano-choker... Wang-Choker. Jeter-has been. Matsui--has been. Posada--Has been.

The Red Sox are full of champions.

The Red Sox will win the division this year...and the World Series.. Big News will be coming very soon.

I love f***ing with this simpleton. You can bring all the stats you want. I could show him that half his team is seriously disgressing-- I could bring a myriad of scatter-graphs and empirical evidence and it wouldn't matter... Yankee fans think that Yankee mystique will carry them to the promise land. You would think the last near decade of obscene overspending while winning nothing would have clued him in to the fact that the Yankees are just another team.

The Red Sox are much more efficient in everything they do. They have a better farm... They make better use of their money..... And they have 2 World Championships since the last Yankee title...

Get over it Jax...the Red Sox are the class of MLB.

This is what you said:

The Red Sox are full of champions.

Will their toughness and grittiness and will to win bring them to a championship? Wjy does being "full of champions" help? Championships are won by teams, and taking individual players from teams who won championships gets you nothing besides the individual's talent.

I am done talking sense with Jax.. He will still insist the Yankees pen is deeper and better than the Sox. I would be willing to bet that I have more high-level baseball experience than most, if not everyone on on this site. I often find that empirical evidence does nothing for Yankee fans because they truly believe any player they sign is automatically given the benefit of the doubt over an equally talented player-- simply because they are donning pinstripes. I find myself sinking into a fanboyish tit-for-tat with them because it is the only way they know how to debate baseball...

My digression is even troubling for me...I like using facts...but why give pearls to pigs?

If you have played professional ball Jim, then you got me. Damn, all that professional experience must be better than ours AND it makes you SO much better at debating which team is better. Also, you are SO right that the sox pen IS WAY BETTER than the YANKEES! Screw the STATS!!11! STAT ARE FOR WOOSIES!!!!1! I dont care if the STATs SAY THAT THE yankees pen was the 2nd best in baseball!! ALL that matters is THAT I SAY THE SOX ARE BETTER, YAHOOOO!!! And that YANKEE MYSTIQUE!!! Thats all they got!!! Their lineup doesnt have ANY ALL STAR PLAYERS@!@@! Nobody will be hitting 50 homers so THEY SUCK!! AROD AND TEX SUCK!!11!! Their LINEUP IS OLD!!!! SO OLD THAT THEy wont be PRODUctive AT ALL!!! They all ARE PLAYOFF chokeRS!! BAH!! SOx rOOL!!!
