do we really want to let RSN just sit back and enjoy watching 2 MFY fans rip each other

silly willy I don't understand how anybody could not want Manny. You have to put his BS to the side

I can't put his BS to the side

Even if we were to call a truce they still have Gom and Jacko going at it every which way lol, so it really doesn't make a difference.

If you chill with the silly willy and diarrhea font I don't see why we can't put this little squabble behind us though. We do have to stick together here on enemy territory.

You have a point' date=' but I think Cano is more focused now. Who knows, it could be a problem. But I think with Manny, plus CC and Burnett we already punched our ticket tot he World Series.[b'] We tentatively have the best offense[/b] and startign rotation in the game. Not to mention Mo in the back end. With Manny I become increasingly assured that we win a World Series before C.C. bolts in 3 years.

Lol @ tentative best offense.

I mean, you're not serious,are you?

You were just over-stating while trying to prove a point, right?

I'm sayin though' date=' when we have Jeter locked up unable to play shortstop [/b']and need a place to put him where does he go if we have another high-profile, overpriced free agent locked in for 8 years. I just don't like the long-term commitment. If he would sign on for 4-5 years I would be mroe open to it, but i say we spent enough on pitching, let Tex go elsewhere, keep 1B open (we just cleared it up after being occupied for 7 years, do we really wanna fill that hole for another 8?), and move onto Manny who will give us superior offensive production. in 3-4 years if Posada or Jeter need to be moved, they can learn the position and move over there. Jeter is athletic enough to make the adjustment. If we could get Mattingly back on board after he's done with the Dodgers (who knows what those chances are though) they would have a great teacher. Granted, they wouldn't be as good as a natural gold-glove 1Bman, but I don't want to watch another star make $20+ Mil into the twilight of his career.

So Jeter's been playing 1B for the last 3 or 4 years???? Yes, the Yankees should want to fill that position with a power hitting, gold glove, under 30 player. Putting Posada, Jeter or any other declining player at a corner infield, traditionally power hitting position is ridiculous. I'm all for loyalty, but not at the expense of the team and championships.

Jorge Posada today threw a baseball 60 feet 75 times, his first time throwing at that distance since July 30 surgery on his right shoulder.

The Yankees said Posada made three sets of 25 throws in Tampa, Fla., and "reported that he felt good." Posada has insisted he will be ready for spring training and to catch Opening Day.

Posada was limited to 28 starts at catcher this year because of the injury, which included damage to his labrum and fraying in his rotator cuff.

f*** you, straight up. You're the one crying about how we shouldn't let the Sox fans sit back and enjoy watching two yankee fans rip into each other (almost an exact quote). So i don't want to hear that s*** anymore.

And what relevance does Posada's rehab and Damon's TYIB award have in this thread?

yup that was me try to be kind ( again )

(almost an exact quote).

you really should ask some one how to use that quote feature

they like that here

So i don't want to hear that s*** anymore.

SW you seem to want to pretend that after I said that

you didn't call me 11 yr old

and started your embarrassing gay bashing again

And what relevance does Posada's rehab and Damon's TYIB award have in this thread?

A) at least I was talking BB,

not spelling , ink color or embarrassing yankee fans all over the world

B ) I think the posada arm / projections

could be a factor as far as texeria goes

after all texeria is what the thread is about

I'm done with his clown. Have fun with photoshop buddy.

Back to the topic at hand, Ken Davidoff says he thinks there is a 20% chance Manny signs witht he yankees, but I don't take anything he says very seriously. I think if Tex ends up in Boston then Manny is a Yankee 100%. If not, I put it at 60-70%

I can't argue with 60/70

but if boston was to get texeria I would think / pray

that LAA would go after manny just as hard

but right now I'm thinking if boston had tex

they would of loved to have stolen todays headlines from the yanks

and the fact that the yanks rushed and had both press confernces at the

same time makes me woder if they don't have another big one coming soon

Posted
If they do its not for Tex. Reports state that we haven't even made an offer. But if Tex does end up in Boston sometime soon I dont think it would be long until we sign manny. And yeah you're right, the Anegsl would be aggressive too, but I think the yankees outbid them unless they're willing to go to 4 years.

Reports: Sox in Texas meeting on Teixeira

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/

If the latest reports are correct, the Mark Teixeira saga may be nearing its conclusion.

Channel 5 (WCVB-TV) is reporting that Red Sox owner John Henry, team president Larry Lucchino, and GM Theo Epstein were in Texas tonight to meet with Mark Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras, in an attempt to finish a deal for the free-agent first baseman.

According to Channel 5's Mike Lynch, who cited unnamed sources, the Red Sox were offering an eight-year, $184 million contract (average annual value -- $23 million) and are hopeful they can wrap up a deal tonight or tomorrow morning.

The Globe's Adam Kilgore has confirmed that Boras is in Dallas tonight. We are currently trying to confirm the rest of the information.

Channel 4 (WBZ-TV) later reported the Sox were meeting with the Teixeira camp tonight, though he wrote that the Sox did not expect anything "conclusive" to come out of the meeting. He did not cite a source for that information.

ESPN's Peter Gammons and Buster Olney reported that, according to major league sources, the Red Sox have "taken strides" toward competing a deal for Teixeira to the point where face-to-face talks between the Sox and Boras were possible tonight.

It is still unclear whether Teixeira, who is believed to have a home in Texas, will attend tonight's reported meeting. Stay tuned ...

For more on the Teixeira hunt, check out The Buzz.

jeez I don't know if I should apologize now or wait

no, I'm not talking about how SW behaves

I talking about cashmen

quite frankly I think it's mean

to let RSN get their hopes up like this

I love how he can't make a post without referring to me in it (I got very uncomfortable when I saw him refer to me by my actual initials. *gasp*). Not only that, apparently he's incapable of posting outside of this thread. And spelling is evidently a weak-point.

Anyways, enough with that nonsense. It appears that it's either the Angels or Nats who are going to end up with Teixeira, as I seriously doubt Cashman is going to outbid either of their offers. If it's the Angels we have all the leverage with Manny. It would just be us and the Dodgers. If it's Washington, which it very well may be, then the Manny thing becomes tricky and we could end up making a mess for ourselves. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.

let the record show

that if I was a sox fan, I would be saying '' good ''

although texeria is a special player

I don't think tex is enough of an upgrade to

move youk and throw lowell out in the cold

“What the Angels did was spectacular, they gave him an offer that blew everyone away, and it shows how badly they want this guy,” Hunter said. “I’m so happy they did that. I can sleep better at night. We can’t let Tex go. He’s very special on this team.''

jeez I thought hunter was smarter than that

the sox were definitly bluffing

it's just a question of when

from a few days ago

As SI.com first reported, the Yanks have continued to ask agent Scott Boras about Mark Teixeira. However, that is likely a strategy designed to make the Red Sox pay more if they were to land the star first baseman.

these sound like fighting words to me

"They won't be out-bid for him," a source said of the Red Sox

that's when I made my wrong predication

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/goes.jpg

who could have predicted

it was going to be

john henry goes down

john henry goes down

john henry goes down

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii262/pinstripezac/baras-1.jpg

Even without Teixeira, the Yanks have angered much of the baseball community with their pitching-record $161M deal for Sabathia, and by raising their bid to Burnett. Multiple executives from other teams and the commissioner's office have complained about the Yankees' fiscal behavior in a plunging economy.

go for it hal

give them all

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA6IWFj3B7Y

for xmas

The Yankees, however, contend they have $88 million coming off their payroll and will have a lower payroll in 2009. Plus, they are moving into a new stadium that promises to keep their revenues high.

a defining moment hal

generally when people make comments like that

one wonders if they really know how the system works

but when RSN says it people tend to think of bob marley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XDktjVENJ8&feature=related

Why would you question whether or not I know if the system works?

I work for a company that provides financial metrics and market color to securities lending borrowers, agents, and lenders so that they can understand where the assets they are borrowing are going, what their return shall be as a result, and how safe they are in doing so. I understand quite well what asking for 200M in funding entails and requires a city to do.

I also understand that in a time where lenders are tightening credit to the point where you'd have to s*** diamonds to get some, this is not a drop in the bucket. When a team has just spent a quarter of a BILLION dollars on two players, asking the taxpayers to fund 200M for a state of the art stadium is ridiculous and borderline insane, particularly when that stadium will provide little to no extra "value" to that particular city over the previous digs.

Do YOU know "how the system works" ???

maybe a better question would be

do you know the difference between funding and lending ?

the only stories I have read were about the yanks seeking and getting tax free bonds

all legal and quite normal

and borderline insane, particularly when that stadium will provide little to no extra "value" to that particular city over the previous digs.

what's the big deal, if you know 1/2 as much as it seem you do

you know this stuff goes on all the time

especially when a team threatens to leave town

the yanks bring in big bucks from the nyc sales tax

were you upset when the sox were getting tax free bonds

for the renovations they made ?

or when some small town in fla built them a spring training site all with tax payer money
