I dont see the sox offering 200 mil. That isnt their MO. 6yrs 150mil sounds like the offer they will make

What is their MO? When they seriously target a guy, they make serious offers. Look at Drew and Matsuzaka.

Admit it, you don't have a clue what their MO is. As such, you can stop your little mental masturbatory effort to make people think they won't get him, because that's what's clearly going on here. He definitely getting more than 6/150, so everyone knows that won't seal the deal, which is why you put it out there.

I love this line:

And to clear some money, they might entertain offers for outfielder Xavier Nady, who made $3.35 million last year, is arbitration eligible and a free agent after the 2009 season.

They're poised to spend at least $300 mil this off-season and they're thinking of clearing like $5 mil

hahaha lmao.

Why do we need a new thread for things we already know? They're not "in" the Tex sweepstakes, but they're not out. I seriously doubt they add him, their interest is just to drive the price up and keep him away from Fenway. As for manny, I've stated my feelings on adding him several times. DO IT. If he batted fifth behind A-Rod, with Cano batting third in front of A-Rod this lineup would be lethal. A-Rod would benefit greatly from having Manny's bat protecting him, and Cano would get so many good pitches to hit having A-Rod and Manny right behind him, it would elevate his status as an offensive player tremendously. That along with the adjustments he made should make the world forget about his horrid 2008. And truthfully, adding Tex would mean putting him 3rd and putting Cano towards the bottom of the lineup somewhere. I think we would be better served all around saving the close to $200 Mil Tex wants and spending $40-50 Mil on Manny and letting Cano and A-Rod reap the benefits. We'll see what happens.

Sigh...no one ever thinks for themselves anymore. Once again everyone...why wouldn't the Yankees publicly say they are in for Tex, or Manny, or Lowe etc? If they're in, great. If they're not in, they drive the price up on the competition. So...they're in. I mean come on...the Red Sox met with Sabathia. Was that anything but FO gamesmanship? Stop. Think. Some of you do. Most of you don't. Now Tex makes sense for the Yankees...and Boston...and the Angels. Can't take the Nationals seriously...but with Boras, if they have the highest offer, he goes there.

The Red Sox love Tex. They are Boras's choice, for reasons I listed before...they are the only team that WILL NOT be in the Manny sweepstakes. So why not give them Tex, because whatever team signs Tex won't sign Manny? However, of the big three teams, they need him the least. The Red Sox have the best offense of the three teams. He's a WANT more than a NEED.

The Angels NEED him the most. They compare themselves the Yankees and Red Sox, and they can't compete if they go through an off-season losing Garland, Tex, K-Rod and Anderson and expect to compete.

The Yankees would definitely want Tex, and the terms of need, they need him the 2nd most, as they lack a second power bat after Arod. It's somewhere between WANT and NEED for them. However, considering they are one of the most likely destinations for Manny, money being even [is it ever?], he goes elsewhere.

No matter what is written about this...take what I said to the bank. Everything that is written, posted, rumored, talked about doesn't change the essentials.

Thank you...we may root for different teams, but we see things similarly. Jacko...the self-appointed smartest person on Talksox [just ask him, he'll confirm it]...why don't you ever write something like this? It would be a lot of fun for me if there were two smart Yankee fans on here tormenting everyone, instead of everyone showing you how ridiculous you sound. By default, 26 to 6 has it, and he's too busy chasing 18 year old girls with big tits to pay attention here...come to think of it, I do the same thing...I guess I just have more expertise in both cases.

Cashman schooling Theo again.. nothing new.

You, my friend, are a douchebag.......and a retard.......so i hereby christen you..........Douchetard.

It's f***ING DECEMBER, and everyone knows the Sox' main focus is Mark f***ing Teixeira, which you have openly stated you LOVE, so let me get this straight.

You want Tex, but since it's December and Theo hasn't signed him, but Cashman grossly OVERPAID for two pitchers, and the Sox' foundation is strong enough that we need not overpay for pitching, and adding Tex is really just a luxury, you want to tell me, that even though it's the Yanks who are playing catch-up, and assembling a Red Sox style offense (not the other way around), you're saying Cashman is schooling us even though we came a game from the WS while Cashman and the yanks were playing f***ing golf?

When you talk about schooling, talk about the guy who built the only repeat world series team in this century, talk to me about the guy who made a top-5 farm system, talk to me about the guy who opened the japanese market, and talk to me about the guy who rejuvenated this team and infused it with an MO that f***ing WORKS, as the standings and 2 world series ring show you.

Other than that, keep your f***ing retarded arguments to yourself, and use that time looking for that chromosome you're missing.

Better yet, ask your role model Gom, hell, he's smart, he respects Theo and his work, and he's not even a Red Sox fan!!!!!

Jeez, dear lord in heaven.

If they wanted Teixera he'd be here by now. As soon as Teixera chooses the Yankees I will force feed your post to you till you gag Wakefield/Buckner style. These cheap bastards can't even figure out who's their starting catcher. Let alone sign a much needed bat. I am looking foward to seeing Theo outclassed by Cashman again.

You need to be able to at least be able to spell T-e-i-x-e-i-r-a, and anyways, i will not waste my time having a discussion with someone with an intellect level as low as yours.

But just to illustrate a point:

Cheap bastards:

Last 2 players the Red Sox have really coveted:

J.D Drew: 5 yrs/ 75 million dollars.

Daisuke Matsuzaka: 51 mill posting fee.

Doesn't seem all that cheap to me.

And you know what, even if Teixeira were to choose the Yankees (which is doubtful, to say the least), it doesn't matter, because Tex is a LUXURY, not a NEED, catcher is a f***ing need, so why don't you use the 0.1 % of your brain that is not occupied by pornography and the daunting task of misspelling even the most basic of words to actually come up with a real argument instead of a truckload of asinine and incoherent comments, while of course making an ass out of yourself.

I say you, sir, are in fact, the first ever douchetard, and you make the name proud!

Matt Garza just owned Kotsay again. It is a need we can't hit.

Outside of Omar Minaya. We have the worst GM in baseball. How am I supposed to feel about the guys running the organization?

Given that you have given no legitimate reasons for your distate of Theo I just have to assume you're just trying to start s***.

Usually when someone makes a claim like this they have something to back it up. You could provide a detailed analysis of why you see it this way, something beyond "matt clement, Wily Mo Pena" etc., Those might be legitimate critiques if the Sox weren't the only two-time winner of the World Series this century.

Given that they are the only two-time winners, nobody takes your claims seriously.

If I were Gom I would renounce your endorsement.

The Sox are on a similar pace this century as they were last century, and we all know how that one ended :D

...sorry, I couldn't resist.

Guess Lowell's injury was Epstein's fault, right?

Posted

The Sox were second in OPS, third in Runs Scored, first in OBP, fourth in XBH and they didn't hit?

Lowell and Papi injured, guess that's Epstein's fault too, right?

And even without them, the Red Sox had arguably (considering all factors) the most balanced offense in the Majors last year.

They got on base, hit for power, played the fundamentals and stole a ton of bases, meaning that by all accounts the Red Sox were in the top echelon in terms of offense last year, rendering your argument moot.

And also showing why the FO's MO works better than any knee-jerk reaction ideas any of us might have, but hey, i only got facts and stats to back me up.

Jesus Christ let it go. Theo is a good GM' date=' and that's coming from a Yankee fan.[/quote']

Wow, guess this about settles it.
