I'm always amazed how fat pitchers (particularly starters) can be good. David Wells, Bartolo Colon, Sabathia, Eddie Guardado, Ray King, Bob Wickman... I guess conditioning isn't all that important.

well it's all pretty much in the arms and the legs, and if you look at those pitchers their legs and arms tended to be a bit thin and built up, but there midsections are fat.

if that makes any sense lol

Guardado is not that heavy, King and Wickman relievers, the only exception to the rule that i know of has been David Wells.

Bartolo Colon is not a good example, seeing as he has broken down different times from several different parts in the last few years.

Heroic? Did he save a baby from a burning building. Let's step off his johnson for a minute' date=' and call it what it was- he sucked this year.[/quote']

Or getting Sabathia banned from every fast-food restaurant in NYC....

And also put a lifetime membership to Gold's Gym in his contract.......Lord knows he needs it....

Not bad ideas.

BAN 26 to 6.

BAN HIM NOW!

CC could use a gym membership and a ban on fast food though. Admit it, if we're gonna give him all this money we gotta protect the investment.

Well there's minimal running involved with the position.

We wouldn't want CC's 900 pound frame to go into cardiac seizures mid-delivery.

Fine' date=' explain his 2007 post-season failures then[/quote']

Small sample size.

Sabathia has made five postseason starts. His ERA in these starts is a robust 7.92, or slightly better than his first five starts of the 2008 regular season.

Any pitcher can have a bad stretch of outings. It is too imprudent to call Sabathia's failures in five starts in October indictive of his future performances.

Is not a bad stretch, the guy finished the season with 253 IPs, and like 3-4 of his last outings were with 3 day rests, what can you expect from that?
