Even for me, that's not cool buddy. Now this is trolling. 1st post, lol. I wouldn't ban him though, see if he has something to add to it first.

f*** you' date=' you douche bag Rays [b']fan[/b]!!

But is he really?

That's the difficult thing here. With the Rays success, this is probably just another kid riding on the bandwagon to look cool.

Hmm' date=' embarrassment to baseball? I bet MLB really really likes the Red Sox, considering they set the sellout record and provide a shitload of revenue.[/quote']

I don't mean to add to the life of this thread or drift off-topic, but it's not that hard to sell otu a 35,000 seat ballpark. C'mon man.

Yankee stadium could hold just 20,000 more and I didn't see it selling out like Fenway. Especially with it being such a "cathedral to baseball" and the Yankees being "america's team".

The average MLB ticket price is about $25. The Average ticket price to a Red Sox game is about $48. Just sayin'...

The Yankees sell out most of their games. I know for certain that they sell more tickets to each and every of their 81 home games than the Red Sox do, sell-out or not.

Very true. Good point.

I'm not trying totake anythign away from the Red Sox, because their drawing power has been outstanding over the past 4-5 years (post-World Championship), it just irritates me when people use the sellout card relentlessly. I mean, we sell out most of our games too and our stadium held 57,000. I didn't intend to cause an uproar and make an issue of this, and I'm sure that if capacoty of the Red Sox's home ballpark was upwards of 55,000 they would probably still sell out most games.

If the Sox had as big of a stadium as the Yankees, they would draw more in a season. In Boston, going to Red Sox games is one of the things to do. It draws more tourists (this is going on assumptions not data), while in New York, going to a Yankee game isn't really a tourist destination.

Right, one of the first things people think of when they think of going to Boston is "Oo, maybe I could go see Fenway Park!" Probably the most famous Boston landmark of all.

YS doesn't really have that level of emphasis. It's just a fact.

Are you guys kidding me? Boston is a smaller city with a much smaller population and way fewer attractions. n the biggest, most populated city in the world when you have so many alternative attractions not everyone is gonna be intrested in going to a ballgame. But don't get it twisted, Yankee Stadium is/was a premiere tourist attraction i this city. We just have a much larger sample size of tourists. THAT'S FACT, buddy.

How do you figure considering every season we set a new single-season attendance record? I mean, I'm not sayign you're right or wrong, but your speculation isn't necessarily a fact.
Posted
You're right that its just speculation. The Yankees draw about 50k per game, I bet the Sox could do that, its only 13k more, and considering the Sox are extremely popular, I bet they could do it. The one problem is the ticket prices, but I could see those dropping a bit if the park was bigger. Again, speculation.

To the general population, can you really put Yankee Stadium on the same level as the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Empire State Building, Times Square, Radio City and Rockefeller Center?

Thank you for helping me mak my point. Boston doesn't have all of those things, making Fenway probably the biggest tourst attraction in Boston by default. To a sports fan visiting New York, Yankee Stadium has the same level of significance that Fenway does for the same sports fan visiting Boston.
