Meh, Stanford really sucks. They have the same "gotta get smart kids" problem ND does, only without the history to attract the best athletes from the pool of smart kids.

Stanford isnt good, I agree. They arent terrible either. It isnt like we're playing Wofford or anything. The thing I like is that Clausen is seeing a lot of pressure, but is checking down appropriately and using his audibles well. That 48 yd TD pass was an audible. And he is now starting to use the middle of the field. Lets put it this way, as a Sophomore, Clausen is looking a hell of a lot better than Quinn did. I think his Jr yr will be ridiculous.

Actually, I think they are terrible defensively. In 5 games this year, they've only given up less than 28 when they played San Jose St. I'm watching, and Claussen is showing improvement. I don't see ridiculous on his horizon, however.

Kentucky's making a game of it against Alabama. Their offense has been atrocious, but they just scored to make it 14-7.

edit: Too bad, too... because now I have to flip back and forth between that game, Auburn/Vandy, and in about 15 minutes here, Brewers/Phillies

Also, you'll never convince me that 'Bama is the second best team in the country at this point. I guess they're at #2 kind of by default, but still...

The playbook has been very vanilla today. This is not the 'Bama you see in a big game. Last week was. I still think they are the #2 based off what I've seen from them on the year.

EDIT: Also, Kentucky can play a little D. While 3 of the teams they've played have been directional schools, they've only allowed 22 pts in 4 games prior to today.

Texas scores to make it 28-27, Oklahoma. The Longhorns look legit.

On another note, are there 4 words that say, without directly saying, "huge college football game" better than.....

YOU ARE LOOKING LIVE!

Love me some Musberger for a big game. Guy is the best in the business, if you ask me.

Great game between Nebraska and Texas Tech. Nebraska scores a TD to tie it at 31 with 29 seconds left.

Definitely. I turned over just in time to see each team's last TD.

OT now.

Texas Tech wins it in OT. What a terrible decision to throw that ball by Ganz (or is it Gans?).

Texas Tech is a flawed football team, but I think they'll give some trouble to anybody they play.

Posted

Yeah, that was an awful decision by Ganz. Take your sack and you've got 3rd down coming up.

UNC has gone up on Notre Dame now. Too bad I'm getting the Suck 10 on ESPN and I can't watch it.

Clausen is looking like a late game version of Eli Manning prior to the '08 playoffs.

Butch Davis has that program heading in the right direction.

Fumble. Game over UNC.

And if it was a non-fumble, which it wasn't, there should've been more than one second left on the clock -- not that that matters at this point.

Be interesting to see how they rule on this last play. I think he fumbled prior to being downed, due to the fact that landed on a UNC player.

I think if they rule it a non-fumble, there's plenty of time on the clock. The clock stops while they establish the yardline and move the chains in college ball. There were 5 seconds on the clock when he was "downed".

Immaterial now, the right call was made.

Yep. And that's how the ref saw it. And that's the ballgame.

Florida is taking it to LSU, 17-0 -- a pick gives them the ball at midfield, now.

Looks like I'm down to flipping between OK State/Missouri and Penn State/Wisconsin in between commercials of the Red Sox game unless LSU starts playing better.

edit: On second, Wisconsin/Penn State isn't any closer...

This isn't a huge shock to me. LSU got pushed to the limit by Auburn, who can play D, but is awful offensively.

And down goes Missouri. I think Oklahoma's still alive with Texas' upcoming schedule. This season's shaping up to be an awful lot like last and I'm loving it.
