It's in the truth and rumors section. I'll believe it when I hear it from his own mouth.

And didnt he claim just last week that he wanted to finish his career in LA?

Posted

Would the Yankees even want him? I can see it happening but I doubt it will.

If it did Manny and A-Rod will finally be together and be bestest friends forever.

I can see it happening. Was it 2005 when he gave the interview during a September series with the Yankees that he always had wanted to play for the Yankees? If he goes to the Yankees, I hope they sign him for 4 years/$100 million. Either Nady or Abreu would have to be cut loose. Where's JHB to tell us whether and to what extent Manny would be an improvement over either of them

If thats true then i'm glad Bay is here. It's one thing to want out of Boston cause of a desire for a quieter Cleveland like lifestyle. But if he goes to the Yankees then he is doing it to be a scumbag.

He's already done quite a bit to be considered a scum bag.

Unfortunately, I have a gut feeling that says he'll be wearing pinstripes next year. I really, really hope not.

Abreu is gone regardless IMO. I just dont see how we fit Matsui, Abreu, Nady and Damon in a lineup. Damon cannot man CF full time. Matsui cannot man LF full time. The easy answer is to move Nady to RF, Damon to LF and Matsui to DH.

Exactly. Manny grew up in Washington Heights and was a childhood Yankee fan. This is not the first we've heard of Manny possibly wanting to play for the Yankees. Now with this extra motivation I could really see it happening.

Who cares?

...the AL East?

I can see it happening, and I can see Yankee fans embrace him after ridiculing him for so many years.

For what it's worth, the real Yankee fans had a great deal of respect for the year to year offensive production that Manny provided.

I don't see the Yanks springing 25 million a year on an aging Manny Ramirez, especially when it seems like they're trying to get away from the high-priced free agents. But then again, who knows?

A high-priced, aging veteran? Sounds like he fits right into the Yankees' alley.

honestly, it does smell like Boras trying to create a market and with the new stadium opening, I fully expect the Yanks to sign one, two or all of Sabathia, Teixeira and Manny and in the end I dont care cause the Yanks have made front-page stealing free agent signings for 8 years so far and its produced zero championships cause its guys like Jeter, Bernie, O'Neill and Brosius who win you titles.

I think it's Boras testing the waters. LA can sign him, they have the money. The only drawback to getting the big payday in LA is his playing LF in 3 - 4 years. Having watched Bonds play LF at 41. I can say it was not a pretty sight. Hopefully Frank and Ned will just enjoy his services for 2 months and milk it for all it's worth. Then pass on bringing him back.

Manny going back to the AL makes more sense. He will still be able to hit without being a liability in the OF. So he should get a bigger contract than if he stays in the NL. Hank knows if he signs him. It will only generate more revenue for the team in the end and allow them to open the New Stadium in a more circus type atmosphere with him laughing all the way to the bank. I'm sure Hank and his accountants would welcome the chance to have him in pinstripes. Now they just need the Yanks to outbid themselves.

I did hear that on the news last night. He supposedly said "I want to steek it to dee Red Sox". Whatever, If he wants to go down in history as one of the greatest players of the game, he better learn to shut his mouth. Remember when he wouldn't do interviews because he was afraid he might say something stupid?

It only makes sense that this would come up, and with Manny, he's never been timely with his comments. The first year it would probably suck, but like Damon, when he starts sucking, it will be fun to watch.

Manny wanted to be traded how many years here? And it didn't happen until the last year of his contract.

I don't care what Manny wants. I can't see it happening and there's no reason to worry about it until we actually see on ESPN that Manny has been overpaid by the Yanks.

Manny's a free agent at the end of the year. So what Manny wants is a pretty big part of it.

very funny how in the span of about a week following the deal, Manny went from saying that he wanted to stay in Boston, to he wants to finish his career in LA to he wants to sign with the Yankees. Next he'll say how much he respects what Minaya does for latin players and he wants to go to the Mets
