  1. "That looked like a breaking ball to Ortiz" ya it was 84 with nasty downward movement thanks buddy
  2. fantastic player
  3. smoltz' stuff is as nasty as ever. his numbers haven't suffered at all; it's only a question of his health. if he's healthy, he definitely has the potential to be the top starter in the AL east, or in the AL. gammons making that prediction may be true, but i would only be surprised if he's healthy and struggles.
  4. PECOTA loves Matt Wieters: 105/31/102 and .311/.395/.544. They project him to have the 3rd highest WARP and 7th highest VORP of all hitters.
  5. A 1-0 loss to Mets about 10 years ago when the only run scored was when Wakefield balked him in from 3rd in the eighth. Or the game in 2002 against the Angels when they came back from down 4 in the 9th to tie and then won on a Damon homer in the 10th.
  6. lol usain bolts ego
  7. This is bad for baseball, A-Rod was supposed to be the post-steroids era 'best player in baseball,' and now he's going to be seen as nothing more than another juicer. This also becomes a huge distraction heading into what's hopefully going to be a great season. Someone, Pujols, Longoria, I don't know, needs to take up the mantle of dominant, fun-to-watch, clean player.
  8. I'd be surprised if he gets anything better than that dodgers offer
  9. I don't think you can name a clear favorite; strong cases can be made for the Yanks, Sox, and the Rays. None of these teams are perfect, it all depends on your point-of-view.
  10. These are good moves for the Yanks in the short-term, but long-term, who knows? If it wasn't the Yanks I'd say the deals would handcuff them, but with their wallet...
  11. He was a decent pitcher back in the day
  12. That hat is awful
  13. He won't be unanimous; there are always some writers who are against players getting in on the first ballot.
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3748249 Tip of the hat to one of the two greatest pitchers of my lifetime
  15. Anything similar to what Pedroia got would be fantastic
  16. No way Theo signs him. Pedro no longer resembles a pitcher who could compete in the AL East. He might still be effective in the NL, and if he can figure a way to work better with his stuff, Jamie Moyer like, he could definitely help a team out. But I don't envision him being able to pitch competitively in the AL.
  17. The Celtics are very strong this year. They're gonna be right at the top again.
  18. Lincecum is my one pitcher I would build a team around.
  19. The guy on top of the wins list never won a CYA either.
  20. Derek Jeter has 4 rings, not 3. But now he's no better than an average SS, if even that.
  21. mad dog being a beast i love it
  22. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Peavy still in a Padres uniform next year.
