Damn those injuries as Matsui strikes out for the third out with men on 2nd and 3rd.

 Seriously though, it seems like the yankees get screwed every april with these injuries. I'm sure if this had happened to the sox there would be quite a lot of whining around here

Colon has had an injury setback. Not to mention losing Casey and being forced to play Lowrie. What about the week we had the flu and Lester had to go on 3 days rest and going to the minors for masterson? Nah, we never have injuries. We just keep winning despite the injuries, so there is no need to whine. Here's a clue. Your team isn't losing because of the injuries. It's losing because of overhyped rookies, over-the-hill position players and a crappy bullpen.

Woah man I hope you don't think i'm a Yanks fan...that would be a pretty awful insult

Anyway i understand your point about the injuries, but A-Rod is possibly the best player in baseball and Posada is their catcher and when a catcher is injured it devastes a team ( i.e 2006) Every team is going to have to deal with injuries throughout the season but my point was that it seems to happen to the yankees each april and i can see where it would be frustrating to the fans

I apologize sincerely for my mistake. I was confused. I promise that I will not make that mistake again. I just slapped myself on the wrist.:D

Lol. Its cool. Well back to the game: still 3-0 going into the ninth. Lee was impressive with 7IP 6 H and ZERO walks. I have no idea when the hell he decided to get so good.

Lee's ERA: 0.81 damnnn

The stands at Yankee Stadium are pretty much empty in the 9th inning down 3-0. They know that their team is cooked for the night. The Red Sox on the other hand are never out of it.

Cliff Lee was as advertised. Wang still pitched a pretty good game, but the offense couldn't do anything for him. Oh well, onto tomorrow...

The Yankees are really rolling some crap out there--- Ensberg, Gonzalez, Aballadelehoo, moeller, shelley duncan, etc. These are Yankees? They've earned their pinstripes and are part of the evil empire?

Says everybody's favorite whine connoisseur.

Since when is pointing out a fact whining? Geeze.

Pitch f/x is a bunch of bunk. Stop trying to say that your pitcher got jipped and start saying that he got rocked in this one start. The calls eventually even out

Checking last night's Yankees game, Cliff Lee got three calls and lost three calls for a dead-even night. Wang lost three calls and got none. Farnsworth lost one call; Betancourt got one call; Albaladejo and Perez were called correctly. The wrong calls broke 8-3 in favor of the Guardians. That's not statistically significant, but it probably resulted in an extra run in favor of Cleveland.

My subjective observation in recent years has been that the late-season Yankees comeback has been associated with more favorable umpiring, in particular in 2005 with Aaron Small and Shawn Chacon. Thanks to Pitch f/x, we can assess whether or not that's the case in 2008. As a part of the baseline, last night the umpires screwed the Yankees out of roughly a run.

I'll try to keep track of both Red Sox and Yankees games this year. :D

and the magic # continues to fall....

the yanks offense is getting old and if damon doesnt produce they have no spark.

take arod and jughead out of that lineup and all of a sudden they have no power

matsui is essentially toast.

cano is 200 points behind last years #s and cabrerra is hitting 280 or less

i assume they expected .310 or better from cano and many thought that this would be cabrerras time to shine.

right now they need help in all 3 facets of the game

pitching

hitting

defense

and perhaps a bottle of valium for the mighty joe girardi who is wondering whats so bad about miami these days..

Still a lot of baseball left. Despite hi average Melky has really carried a load offensively. Injuries arent gonna be forever so the power bats will return, and Cano is bound to heat up. Count us out...go ahead. But we'll see who's laughing in October.

I have never said this before in my life, but this year I sincerely believe that the New York Yankees will not be playing in October.

You can probably pick up Barry Zito at the deadline though.

Given the events of the last 8 years, the answer to this question is probably Red Sox fans?

There are many things in life that seem to serve no purpose. The tonsils and appendix. The four guys standing around watching the 5th guy work on road crews. Light beer. All of them pale in comparison to Suzyn Waldman calling a baseball game.

Sterling: "And Matsui goes with the pitch lining one into left field!"

Waldman: "You are absolutely right, John. He did hit the outside pitch the opposite way, he just went with it."

Sterling: "Mussina gets him looking with the slow curve!"

Waldman: "You are absolutely right, John. He threw the ball really slow, and it curved."

I dont think you should include the last 8 yrs in your bit. I'd go with 2 out of the last 4

Last 8 years:

Sox Titles - 2

Yankee titles - 0

I'll stick to what I said.

If there werent any concerns over Waldman being a snake and filing a sexual harassment suit, the yankees never would have hired her. She is awful and never should have been Steiner's replacement

This is 2008, why dwell on the past? And in 7 of the past years you guys couldn't overtake us in the standings. And in each of the past 8 years we've been to the playoffs. Not so with you guys. And we've appeared in more World Series the past 8 years. And 8 is such a square number, lets round it to 10 (2-2) or 15 (4-2). Like I said, this isn't last year, or the year before, or 2003 or 1998. We've got a longgg season ahead of us. And hey, we can only go up from here given our level of talent.
