Lopez is quickly becoming Tito's backup binky. He needs to be shipped off so that he's no longer an option. I don't care if this pen has no lefty other than Jima when the alternative is to have a lefty that sucks.

My god finally over. Lopez was crap, he has been being used a lot by Tito. Part time set up man he is not. Im guessing MDC is still having some after affects from the flu. It took 3 batters for Oki to find his bearings before getting the last 3 outs.

Some pretty dang clutch pitching there from Okajima... seven batters too late though.

Who pitches for us now that Okajima threw approximately 759 pitches that inning?

This isn't exactly a major discovery, but:

Masterson: 6 IP, 1 R, 95 pitches

Bullpen: 3 IP, 6 R, 94 pitches

They really flushed his game down the crapper.

Unbelievable - I think our pen is worse than the Yankees now that Joba is back.

Yankees pen- 14th in MLB at 3.82

Sox pen- 24th in MLB at 5.02

Yankees pen minus Joba and Mo- 4.74

Sox pen minus Oki and Pap- 6.13

I blame this loss on Tito & the Bullpen Bunch.

Masterson pitched very well in his first MLB start, and the pen s*** it for him. And I really can't blame run support, considering they struck early with three runs, giving a good amount of breathhing room.

This could have been an easy win if Tito just played the pen better.

The pen has been stressed early by the inability of the starters to go deep into games and the missed starts by Beckett and Dice K. I am not as concerned about the bullpen as I am about the starting pitching. I know that you are thinking that I am nuts right now, but no bullpen can hold up over a whole season if the starters don't go past the 5th or 6th innings. The pen can't go 3 or 4 innings every night. The only starter that I am confident will go deep into games is Beckett. Wakefield is the next best bet. After those two, it will be extremely rare that the other 3 will go 6 or 7. I really think that the pen has good depth, but you can't be going to 2 or 3 or more guys as a bridge to Papelbon every game. The pen will fall apart and never recover. If the starters can regularly get to the 7th or later, this bullpen will be fine.

I liked Hansen yesterday than our entire bullpen today. In a perfect world, Lopez DFA, Hansen up. I doubt it though. Where did the 2007 Delcarmen go?

To the latrine every ten minutes to vomit, just like Dice-K, Beckett, and Tek, I presume.
