Right, and those are the casualties of him having a huge year right before his opt out clause was set to kick in.

When it comes to baseball decisions, I do not feel that the Yankee's front office looks foolish whatsoever, and, to me, the baseball aspect is what counts.

Last month, it was reported the Yanks were willing to extend him for 5/140 on top of his remaining 3/81 deal, netting 8/231. Less the 7 mil per for the 3 years Texas owes, and that number drops to 8/210.

They offer 10/275, and it's the Yankees who win out here? They pay an extra $65 million, and it's ARod and Boras who look foolish?

the Yanks would look like idiots if they gave Arod anythig higher than a $220M deal IMO.

Let me start by saying...f*** Alex Rodriguez and his faggoty assed agent "I take it in the" Boras. This assmunching dickwad decided to opt out because the richest f***ing team in baseball might not have paid its "core players"? Are ya f***ing serious? Not only did he make that boneheaded decision, but he had the audacity of a gay porn star to do it during the clinching game of the world series. What a punk.

Then, he finds out, holy s***, maybe I am not worth 35 mil like my pencil dicked agent is telling me. Damn, I better look at what I had and not really look a gift horse in the f***ing mouth. Maybe, just maybe, Hank Steinbrenner will be stupid enough to believe the ruse that I am breaking away from my agent and forming my own little utopian island where I can negotiate my own contract. Of note, that island is loaded with women with 6 pack abs, ripply muscles, deep voices, adams apples and phallic shaped genitals, just like ARod likes it.

So now, he negotiates with the yankees under the guise that he will absorb the 21 mil the yankees would have been owed, when in reality, he wouldnt have even come close to making the 27 mil a yr he is asking for, for 10 f***ING YRS!!!!

Then again, we are stuck in an impossible position. Without ARod's lame ass dragging around, who is going to stir up the metrosexual demographic and drag their jizz encrusted asses to the stadium. Jeter? Nah, he is straight (I think). But ARod drags em all in in droves. We cant afford to lose the demographic!!!

That being said, we need a righty power bat, and ARod fits that bill. Now if only he could shave his head, get a Mike Tyson tattoo and father some illegitimate children, then maybe, just maybe, he can fit into the wild partying MLB life that most players live, rather than being on this island all alone.

10 yrs 270 mil is way too long. ARod is crawling back, take advantage of it. Oh, and dont turn your back on him, he may stab you with a knife or another fleshy, pointed object.

The two sides are currently working toward a 10-year, $275 million contract, a source with knowledge of the talks told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. The deal also would include incentives that could push the total value higher.

And MJ...this is exactly why I've found you so oddly endearing all these years....very fond of you in this type of frantic diatribe. Also, this post made me laugh. And, you've never been a hypocrite. Wrong almost always, but never a hypocrite and for that I'm getting rid of my signature and replacing it with my new favorite target. Jayhawk Bill. Until Fred comes back.

you know I havent been too fond of ARod over the yrs. He started to win me over last yr, but this s*** he is pulling this offseason has made me despise him beyond repair. The name on the front is always what matters, but this guy just doesnt do anything right. And he stumbles into being the richest player alive. Imagine if he wasnt suck a f***ing prick, he might have made more money and also made a subset of MLB love him. He is gonna retire as one of the best players of all time without any steroid allegations and fans everywhere will hate him.

Love this post except for the "ARod is crawling back" part. Don't buy it.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, Alex Rodriguez will likely be guaranteed about $280 million over 10 years from the Yankees, with the chance to go over $300 million through incentives.

Heyman says agent Scott Boras is in intense negotiations with the Yankees to complete the deal. We suppose anything is possible with these two parties involved, but it seems highly unlikely that a deal will fall through at this stage. Nov. 15 - 12:58 am et

No Kilo...not scary stats. I use them all the live long day at work. They ain't the end all and be all and only 1/3 of the story. I was being facetious. Sarcasm...you've heard of it? I was kidding. You do have a stick up your ass a bit. This is just people talking baseball and goofing around late at night while drinking I assume. I'm sure Jayhawk will appreciate your defense of his honor. You might try getting laid once in awhile.

On another note...most recent quotes.

"The past is the past. I don't know what brought about him approaching us," Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said in a telephone interview. "I guess you could say things didn't go the way before that he intended on and weren't handled properly or whatever.

"But the bottom line, the only thing that really matters, is he wants to stay a Yankee (or they were the only team willing to pay him what he wanted). And it could be very well that he's always wanted to stay a Yankee (threw up in my mouth a little bit) and we just didn't know it."

Rodriguez, likely to win his third AL MVP award next week, had not made any public statements since becoming a free agent following the Yankees' first-round loss to Cleveland in the playoffs. After consulting with his wife and family (and his male stripper friends at the sleepover at Jetesys), Rodriguez reached out to Hank and his brother, Hal, through a third party.

"It became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization," Rodriguez said in a statement. "Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs (none of whom wanted him even a little bit at anywhere near his salary demands), I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness." (laughs uncontrollably)

regardless, this does make us a better team and he is the best overall player in the game. But does he have to be such a f***ing douche?

In order to offset the no soul player, can we get Lowell for 1st so we can have a guy with a heart?

Lowell's not the best choice to balance out ARod though....ARod's got no balls and Lowell's only got one.

more confusion in the bronx, completely rudderless.

the brothers fredo cant seem to understand that they have this ******* by the shorthairs and can tell him to go fist his blind aunts ass before they will talk to him again.

whats he going to do,complain??

he showed up the yankees the sox and the entire league and now he has no place to hang his hat....the yanks should offer him 1.00 less than giambi is making just to slap his ego around a bit....this is the same man that watched 3 85mph belt high fastballs from paul byrd beat him 4 weeks ago with the season on the line...

when negotiating with arod they should be running his playoff hi-lite reels during the discussions....the yanks maybe able to get him to play for nothing based on his october perfromance

10 yrs 272M is whats being reported on espn radio as the deal being offered. Arod is supposed to be in Tampa today to talk to the Brothers Grimm...
Posted
And it basically goes like this:

Arod: So Brian I'd like to be back on the Yankees

Cashman: Well you did opt and cost our organization 22 mil towards your cause. Now I guess I could retract my entire statement about not making any deals with you but our offer stands at 8/210 which is what we would have been paying you.

Arod: oh...well geese me and Scott were thinking more along the lines 10/280-300.

Cashman: That's is 2 years longer and 70-90 mil more than what we were going to pay you before. And now the contract is reaching into your ages 41-42 years

Arod: Exactly.

Cashman: Welcome Back!

You left out the beginning and end...

The beginning? My hunch is the Yanks "leaked" to ARod that they'd entertain the idea of him coming back.

The end? The Yanks FO says "just so we understand each other...we don't want to eat crow, so YOU have to take the hit as the party who approached us, not the other way around"

Cheaper than the $350m price Boras/ARod through out there a week or two ago just to talk, no? Maybe the Yanks just saved themselves $80m?

On another note, assuming he will end up in pinstripes inevitably, I'd love to see the Sox, Angels, Dodgers get in on the act and drive his price up, then bail, leaving the Yanks with a $320m, 10 yr commitment on their hands...then see ARod busted for HGH or something.

See my post earlier in the thread....Boras and ARod got a $65 million pay increase. Who's the loser here?

Posted
I saw that and understand what you're saying...so likely the $350m price just to talk was a chip they played to get that $65m hike...and from the Yanks perspective, they would never have gone $350m, but probably were rsigned to the fact that ultimately it would take something on the order of the $270m that is being talked about now.
Posted
And Boras also said it would take 100M to sign Dice-K, and that was just his salary and not including the bid. Boras always throws out insane numbers just to see if someone will bite. Thats what he did with Tom Hicks, they threw out a ridiculous number that they probably thought had no chance of happening and Hicks dumass did it. So he just tried it agian is all...

But what is market value? Really, it’s whatever price people will pay for that asset on the open market. If there were teams lining up to pay significantly more than $275 million for A-Rod, he probably wouldn’t be talking to the Yankees right now. Instead, the market value that the Yankees seem to be referring to is the $350 million price tag that Boras set himself.

So consider: Boras sets an incredibly high price, and the media calls him names. But by doing so, he raises the bar, and makes a lower (but still outrageously high) number seem not only palatable, but “below market value.”

People love to hate Scott Boras, but he continues to win. And don’t be mistaken, this is a major victory. Nobody has come within $100 million of A-Rod’s last deal since the 2000-01 winter, and now it looks like he will beat that one by at least ten percent.

"Even if he comes back, my opinion on him won't change after this. He talked and talked about how he was willing to give money back to go to a winner. How he wanted to play in New Yankee Stadium. And it was all ********. I gave him the benefit of the doubt on it, and I was wrong. He's a phony who's only chasing money"

f*** this.

I love a little hypocrisy in the morning...it smells like victory. MWID.

He has no credibility, and the NY organization had very little. Collectively, they now have negative credibility. When it's all said and done, the general consensus will be that Bora$ bullshitted his way to another giant, overblown payday for himself and his client.

It was also reported that the Yankees were prepared to offer a 7 year extension at $29M per year in addition to the 3/91 that was remaining on his contract for 08-10. That's a total of $294M for 10 years. The offer now is being reported as 10 yrs, $273M, there's where the $21M Texas money comes in to play.

So, if A-Fraud had not opted out the Yanks would have been on the hook for $23M per year for 08-10, now they will be on the hook for $27.3M per year in 08-10, that's an increase of $12.9M over the 08-10 period. Anything after 2010 is mute here for arguments sake. Until yesterday there was no contract offer after 2010 for A-Fraud and no one knows what his market value would have been in 2011 and beyond.

So you're saying you agree with the position that ARod came back to them?

I find it funny that if ARod changes his mind, it's that he's crawling back. The Yankees do the same and they're lauded.

A 10-year megadeal for about $280 million -- yet another record contract for A-Rod -- is expected to be completed in the next day or two.

There is a great deal of optimism that an accord can be struck soon, as the sides were down to discussing incentive monies and contract language, an indication they possibly were in the final stages of negotiation. But while an agreement seemed extremely likely, both sides cautioned late Wednesday that it had yet to be completed.

The new contract is likely to include an unprecedented incentive package that could put the total package at well over $300 million.
