Ricky Williams season is over already:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3130119

Ricky Williams' 2007 season reportedly lasted just six carries.

The Miami Dolphins running back, who was reinstated last month after a one-year suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, suffered a torn chest muscle in the Dolphins' 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, the Palm Beach Post reported, citing an unnamed source.

The injury apparently happened when Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons, pursuing a Williams fumble, stepped on Williams' right shoulder blade.

"It's just sad," Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, told the Post. "As hard as he's worked. He worked so hard physically to get back into shape and in therapy. He worked so hard for that moment and to have it end this way is sad."

The Post reported the Dolphins were not available for comment Tuesday afternoon.

So what you're saying is, in a f***ing monsoon, the field would have been better if they stuck with the chewed-up, old sod.

Gotcha.

between the field Saturday night and last night...i would choose the old field.....wouldn't you?

"Those conditions, whew, they were horrendous," Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward said after daylong rain and new sod created awful playing conditions. "The footing was bad, all of a sudden you'd hit a water puddle and sink down. Some of defensive backs were scared about falling down and giving up a big play."

"You put new sod in and weather like this, it's not a good combination," Reed said. "I planted [on his first field goal try] and the whole sod moved over."

"It was like being on the beach in the sand on every play," said Miami linebacker Joey Porter, the former Steelers star playing against his old team for the first time.

"In the NFL, I've never played on a field that bad," Dolphins kicker Jay Feely said. "But we knew that it would be like that once it was re-sodded. We knew what the conditions would be like."

It might've been. One thing about fieldturf, which I'm assuming is what they used, is that it does take a bit to get worn in and play like grass, which I think is what made the Patriots switching to it so surprising. Whether that played into anything... I don't know, I won't claim to be an expert on the matter or to have watched the game.

I'd have a hard time believing that the result of sticking with the original turf or grass or whatever it was would result in a worse game, though.

From my understanding, they used new sod (actual grass).

Really, with the conditions last night, there's absolutely nothing they could have done. It was going to suck anyways.

Does Heinz field have any sort of drainage? I know Invesco Field at Mile High does. In fact, excess water can be sucked out of the field within minutes. It's heated, too. And 3 of every 100 strands of grass is fake. :dunno:

Yes it has drainage, but the new sod on top of the old sod was hampering it.

Insane. I can't help but wish I watched that game until I remember it was Dolphins/Steelers and the final score was 3-0.

 I was actually glued to the tv because I was laughing my ass off at all of the mishaps of the game. ESPECIALLY when the ball just planted itself in the field like the video above shows.

Pittsburgh is 8-3? There was a discussion on my work break about this. 2 bottom dweller teams (Jets, Dolphins) have come into Heinz Field and stymied the Steelers offense. Clemens and the Jets won by a score of 19-16, an overtime field goal. Granted I knew Pittsburgh would beat Miami but no one was expecting the lowest scoring game in Monday night football

I think the conditions had quite a bit to do with that. I don't care what team you are, you aren't going to score a lot of points on a night like that.

I thought the Jets game was at the Meadowlands?

I don't know... I think the older Pittsburgh teams would've dominated in those elements. Back when they had the Bus and Deuce Staley and Cowher's philosophy was to run down your throats.

But eh, I think the Steelers are a bad 8-3. In a normal year, I think they're closer to .500.

Ooh... ooh... ooh... speaking of the Jets...

Man-genius doesn't look so great now, does he? Five bucks to whoever can fit the words "clueless", "overwhelmed", or other like words into his name like people had prematurely done with "genius".

And speaking of him, that Belichick coaching tree, save for Romeo Crennel -- and even with the Browns success, you won't convince me he's a good head coach -- isn't looking so great these days between Mangini and Weis. Guys like Saban don't count because, well, he was a terrible pro coach and he coached under BB when Belichick was a s***** head coach.

John Madden was in New England to announce a football game

one weekend when he noticed a special white telephone near

the Patriots' bench. He asked QB Tom Brady what it was used

for and Brady told him it was a hotline to God. John

laughed and asked if he could use it. Brady replied with a

grin, "Sure, but it will cost you $200." John scratched his

head, then thought, what the heck, I could use some help

picking games. He pulled out his wallet and paid $200.

John's picks were perfect that week.

The next week, John was in Indianapolis when he noticed

that same kind of white phone on the Colts' bench. He asked

what the telephone was for and Peyton Manning told him,

"It's a hotline to God. If you want to use it, it will cost

you $500." Recalling the previous week, John pulled out his

wallet and made the call. John's picks were perfect again

that week.

The weekend after that, John was in Green Bay , when he

noticed again the same white phone by the Packers' bench.

He asked Brett Favre, "Is that the hotline to God?" Favre

said, "Yes, and if you want to use it, it will cost you 50

cents." John looked incredulously at Favre and said, "Wait

a second, I just paid $200 in New England and $500 in

Indianapolis to use the same phone to God! Why do the

Packers only charge 50 cents?"

Favre replied, "Because in Green Bay, it's a local call."

Wow, great run by Grant. 13-10 as the quarter ends. There are quite a bit of Packers' fans there...

Great vision to see the hole and sneek right through it into the open field. He was gone once he got passed scrimmage.

So much for that Pack D. Did they lose the tape of the 'Skins game against the Cowboys when prepping for the game? If so, they need to figure out letting TO run free doesn't work.
