This guy is pathetic. I can't believe he put up the numbers he did in Texas. He is losing more games for us than we can afford. Cut your losses and just release his fat ass.....so we lose the trade...big deal it might still save our season if we get rid of him this second.

Even tho he has been a hack for us' date=' he's still going to bring the Sox a 1st round pick from which ever team signs him. Sox wont release him for such a reason[/quote']

Awesome so we can sacrifice games for a 1st round pick....I would just release him and free the spot for someone who can pitch in the big leagues

Just back from the game, Gagne was pathetic and got a water bottle thrown at him. I'm done defending him, he needs to show me something before I can ever have any faith in him. Tito stop using him in big situations he is NOT getting it done.

I'm done defending him too. I don't blame Tito's use of him and Paps today because I too thought Gagne had turned a corner after that Tampa Bay outing. Now, I see that it was just a fluke. He should not get the ball in a close game. Period. Okajima and Papelbon worked before Gagne got here, and it can go on without Gagne interrupting it, thank you very much.

He cannot be anywhere near the mound when there is a lead. Mop up duty until he proves himself worthy.

In theory, without him the Sox would be 8 games in first.

Gagne should not be pitching in the 8th or 9th inning. We were doing fine without Gagne. I was hoping that Gagne would solidify the middle innings. In my oppinion, I blame Tito as much as Gagne for his 3 BS.

not necessarily. It is not set in stone that he will be a Type A and with his recent performance, he may be a type B. Remember, it takes into account the past 2 seasons, and his 06 season was non-existant.

You know, it's like Fitzy said, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, f*** you.

Get rid of Gangé. We were a LOT better without him, and we could have 2 more wins right now.

You know i was never a Eric Gagne fan until he became a closer because i said hey this guy has the look of an awesome closer, and thats exactly what he was he was pure dominant.

I love the guy but im not blind, he f***ing sucks, and maybe hes hurt and doesnt wanna spill the beans but right now i think me (who hasnt been to the batting cages since god knows when) would hit a 500 ft shot off the guy right now on the first f***ing pitch thats a strike. (he could toss some balls you know)

anyway im disapointed, i hope he remains with the red sox and turns it around but i dont want to see him in close games...maybe its a mental thing, close game, f*** lets turn it around, oh s*** wrong pitch same story...bring him in when the sox are up 10 or down 10. let him go in the 6th 7th innings to rebuild the confidence. if he cant, gotta say goodbye mr.gagne. It was nice seeing you in a boston redsox uniform, but i like the redsox more than you buddy so...sorry but get the f***ing act together ay?

Well let's hope tonight was the start of a new Gagne 1 IP 0 ER 3K what he SHOULD be doing. Like I said let's hope tonight was the start of something good with this guy.

relievers have to be consistent. Gagne has blown 3 games, given up a run in another which didn't cost us and had 3 outings where he hasn't given up a run. thats not consistent

actually that is pretty consistent ;)

He looked better, control was still a bit off. First pitch he threw to Anderson was laced into right for a single but thats the only hard contact they made, Pedroia couldn't quite handle the grounder towards him, but he did have 3 Ks.

if he comes in during a tightgame, its basically been a coinflip whether or not he's gonna blow it. thats consistent?

Didn't see yesterday's game, but the biggest problem with Gagne so far has really been the type of pitches he's been throwing. They brought this up on either baseball tonight or Sportscenter, and its a good point. I know we all think Varitek is infallible and all, but maybe Cash behind home plate gave Gagne a different approach to pitch selection.

Just a thought, it's just interesting that this was something that was mentioned before, and then the game Varitek sits out Gagne strikes out 3 in one inning.

Gagne did the same thing in LA when Loduca was traded. The two back up catchers did not know how to call his pitches. Your catchers need to understand what his pitches can do. They should go back and look at some of his old games when Loduca was catching him. The hitters never knew what was coming and very rarely did they ever get two fastballs or change ups in a row and never in the same location. He moved his location around on almost every pitch. That's what made him unhittable.

Gagne is like a Ferrari. Sure anyone can with a license can drive one. Till you understand what the car is capable of. It's just another car. I don't think it's him. Not putting down your catcher but given the short time he's been with the club. I don't think they are on the same page. Go on you tube and watch him when he was a Dodger. You will see how hitters struggled with him. When he is being used right. Most batters will buckle at least once or twice in an AB.

bingo. this is what pisses me off the most right now , we should be at least 6 ahead of the yanks right now if it wasent for gagne .

The problem with pointing to pitch selection as the source of Gagman's problems is that in seveeral of his blown opportunities he has been unable to locate his off speed stuff. So there has not been any real choice to begin with.
