Wow' date=' the negativity out here f***ing sucks.[/quote']

I don't know about you, but I think it's pretty warranted. I mean, honestly, can you seriously say with a straight face that this team doesn't suck right now?

If Youk put a big swing on this guy' date=' he could reach the track.[/quote']

Easy, vet lover. You've been pretty critical of him of late now that the results fit your opinion of him. Of course, those couldn't have anything to do with the lingering quad injury instead of his talent.

And I love your touting of your assessment of Lester in ST. Care to remind us what you thought of Pedroia?

I agree. It's too late.

The Red Sox organization is a bunch of pussies when it comes to making bold moves. They were too afraid a solution wouldn't present itself during the season for a closer. What do you know....Okajima has been possibly the best reliever in the league this season. On top of that Manny Delcarmen is becoming a very dependable arm which could be a reliable setup man.

Oh well you are right...too late and now we have major holes in our rotation and too many decent arms in the bullpen which aren't being used.

Should have been solved on March 1st.

The Red Sox panicked, and now Tavarez and Gabbard are pitching 4/5. 2006, all over again.

I stick by my assessment of Pedroia in ST. Good hands, below average speed, average arm, below average power. His upside is Mark Loretta. Pretty dead on wouldn't you say. It has nothing to do with vet vs youth. You don't ever hear me criticize Papelbon, Beckett, or Ellsbury do you?

You are wrong about Papelbon.

Have I mentioned how bad the f***ing negativity sucks out here?

Nice job Timlin!

Have you noticed that we are losing to the KC Royals and they beat us last night. Let's thump our chests and proclaim our team as the class of the league.

He has tremendous control of his high powered fastball and possibly the best splitter in the league....two guys immediately come to mind that had the same combination....Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens

C'mon.

You made the Loretta comparison when he OPSed .705. You even compared him to

a similar short 2B, who had hit like .245 in the minors.

You didn't think Pedroia would be hitting this well.

Did Bud change the rules and games only last 7 innings now? DAMN IT!

If you haven't noticed, this team has not been coming from behind very well.

I think the Sox think he did.

Look, I would love for them to do well, obviously. But even you have to admit that they have sucked hardcore over their last 43 games going 21-22. That's unacceptable from team with the best record in baseball. I actually don't even know if that's the case anymore.

For all second basemen with 200+ ABs, Pedroia is 5th in OPS. Better than Brandon Phillips, Ian Kinsler, and Orlando Hudson or Placido Polanco, who are all considered superior 2Bs.

He doesn't have "good hands" he has phenominal hands. He has made standout plays all year at 2B and makes contact perfect for a #2 hitter on a very good team. He's a ROOKIE for crying out loud. You think he might be a better player in 4 seasons? I do. (as pedroia gets on with his 3rd hit of the night).

Why?

Because he's a proven closer. No one can expect him to automatically start, he's not currently conditioned for that. Maybe in 2008 but it's too late now. He'd do whatever the team asks of him but he wants to close and their aren't many others out there that I'd rather have than him.

We're going to win this game, all will be fine....patience.

Detroit had the best record at the beginning of the day.

Also' date=' we should not be losing one game to thes chumps at home, never mind two. That would be disgraceful. What is your cause for optimism?[/quote']

Jeez, I'm usually the most optimistic one around here and even I'm not optimistic about this team right now. I'm optimistic that they can right the ship and make some necessary changes. I'm also optimistic because if this team were to have a lull, this would be a good time to do it; they have a big lead and even the best teams have hot and cold streaks. I think there is a lot of potential for this team to have a very strong stretch drive as the games become seemingly more meaningful.

This series doesn't feel like the time when that change is going to happen though...

This is a solid point VA. He's not just a good closer, he's a lights out closer. You dont find many.
