It's 5 games back and still 4 in the loss column. Just like we are 8 back in the loss column to Boston.

Damage control! Damage control!

I know you insist that the loss column is all that matters, but that's just more lipstick on a pig. If you are x back and (x-1) back in the loss column, that means the other team has played two more games and won both of them, putting the onus on the Yankees to win both of those extra games. The lead is what the lead is.

A bad night for the Bronx Bombers. A loss to Colorodo, coupled with a Tigers and Red Sox win, put the Yankees a step further away in the race for the post-season.

You can't make up a loss. You can make up a win. That is the beauty of the loss column. I'm surprised you don't see this.

I see it, but you still have to win them. By counting only the loss column you are counting them as wins.

That's why you look at both. If you're 3 games back, but even in the loss column, the 3 game lead is misleading. Taking everything into account doesn't hurt.

Point remains they need to win games. Colorado is just playing really good right now.

If you're even in the loss column and three games back, that puts the pressure on YOU to win those six games that they haven't played yet. The only thing that counts to me is the "GB" column. If you're tied for first even if you've played two less games, you're tied. Period. Just because you have one more loss and one more win than the next team doesn't mean you're anything less. Looking at just the loss column is stupid.

loss colum is stupid if your 10 games ahead but if theres only a few game seperating 2 teams thats different , for example

team1 100-60

team2 98-58

in this scenario the loss colum makes a difference cause team 2 has 4 games in hand , sure the pressure is on them to win them all but their in good shape cause they only need to win 2 of 4 to tie

its almost impossible for a team to have played 4 fewer games than another that late in the season

Reed Johnson, in his first game off the DL, just made a unbelievable catch against Victor Martinez in the 9th inning with two men on base and 1 out.

If the yankees land Texiera and Milwood at the deadline for some s*** prospects and we reacquire Chad Bradford and Reggie Sanders, I will throw out all of my electronic equipment and not subject myself to another season like last season. It's time for Theo and Co. to step up. After spending all this money two years in a row, not making the playoffs this year should cost him his job.

Hello all...just got back from Egypt, and it looks like my Yankees are making a run on the Wild Card..thanks all for keeping the thread going.

Anyways, to my fellow Yankee fans, don't get too excited about this run. This run is absolutely needed, as in August, we are in trouble. Check the schedule:

Sat. 11 at Cleveland

Sun. 12 at Cleveland

Mon. 13 Baltimore

Tue. 14 Baltimore

Wed. 15 Baltimore

Thu. 16 Detroit

Fri. 17 Detroit

Sat. 18 Detroit

Sun. 19 Detroit

Mon. 20 at LA Angels

Tue. 21 at LA Angels

Wed. 22 at LA Angels

Fri. 24 at Detroit

Sat. 25 at Detroit

Sun. 26 at Detroit

Mon. 27 at Detroit

Tue. 28 Boston

Wed. 29 Boston

Thu. 30 Boston

In other words, it isn't going to be easy.

To all of my friends here, thank you for the kind comments towards me when my uncle passed away. I figured at my father's age, I should take some time off and go spend it with him in Egypt so he wasn't alone. I missed the beginning of the Yankee run, but hopefully it continues.

Anyways, thanks all for the kind words, and I look forward to baiting you all again.

Is Egypt where the bandwagoners hide while times are tough? Just bustin balls. Welcome back' date=' I hope you didnt get malaria.[/quote']

To tell you the truth, with the Yankees sucking as much as they had been, it made the decision even that much more of a no-brainer. Work in the mortgage business has been slow this summer for purchases [although I've kept afloat with refi's] so I figured with work slow, the yankees sucking, and my father alone, I'd be an idiot not to go.

Now watch, I come back, and they go on a 6 game losing streak.
