While I agree about the meaninglessness of the off-field stuff, I always find it interesting how stupid these dolts can be. Take ARod and the tranny stripper in Toronto. The guy knows he's a lightning rod for media attention, yet he still gets seen in public with that woman - after tucking the tubage - all over town. While it may not be something we want to like or accept, the parasites that sell that stuff are part of the game now, and forgetting about them is just plain dumb.

cant hit .220 and lead off for a team with payroll of our size

not to mention the fact that 6 shortstops that we let go in the last 5 years are playing for less money(with the exception of lassie garciaparra) and are dwarfing lugo offensively and are considered better defensively.

i think freddy sanchez won the nl batting title last year but hes at 2b?? i think

hanley r won the rookie of the year and david eckstein won the mvp of the post season

together they cost less than 2 months of lugo

i dunno

i like the occasional spark lugo gives these guys, obviously i would like more than hes given

hes intense and emotional and plays to win and i think he brings his #s back to somewhat respectability before the fall....

if he dont??

theo will have 23M per wrapped up on 2 guys the lowly f***ing dodgers wanted no part of to show his bosses.....

that said we all know its more than #s

mark belanger was a career .215 hitter for baltimore and he wouldnt get 40 rbi a year

Belanger was a .228 career hitter, and he had two 40 RBI+ seasons.

those 40 came against the sox after the 7th inning in close games it seemed

He hit .258 against the Sox and had 43 RBI's for his career against Boston. Those came in a season's worth of AB's.

Belanger doesn't rate as a good clutch hitter either. Late and close stats? Batted .223, with 57 RBI's, in two seasons worth of AB's.

his dp mate bobby grich was similar,25 hoppers that would go between the 2nd basman and the short stop but wouldnt go over 120 feet, usually tying or taking the lead in those at bats...

Grich wasn't even remotely similar to Belanger. Grich was actually a pretty good hitter, and his value is even more maginfied due to his position.

He hit .242 against Boston. With Baltimore against Boston?

1970 - 0-11

1971 - 0-4

1972 - 10-60

1973 - 13-68

1974 - 18-70

1975 - 19-56

1976 - 19-57

.242.

oakland had that prick walt weiss who owned our asses but only in close games with runners in scoring position

Walt Weiss hit .241 against Boston. With 8 RBI's. Zero HR's. Dominant.

the yanks with girardi and speizio were huge components in the yanks post season success

Speizio? You mean Scott Speizo?

The guy has never had an AB with the Yankees. Never. Not one. Maybe you should check out those stats.

Oh, and Joe Girardi? Take a guess what he hit in the postseason.

Below the f***ing Mendoza line.

.182.

How clutch.

How tuff.

How grity.

f*** stats.

#s lie

lugo hasnt done what hes capable of doing but i dont consider him a complete bust as of yet

No, sir. You do.

This took me 5 f***ing minutes to look up.

Getting bagged was the best thing that could have happened to Gart Hartpence. If he had won the nomination Ronald Reagan would have cleaned his clock completely and render him more pathetic than he became.: ::thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

Think Michael Young will be available at the trade deadline?

Doubtful, he signed quite a contract extension during spring training I believe to 5 years/$13-15 per. It would take a very big offer to sway the Rangers

Still not seeing the point of mentioning Sanchez and Hanley. Sanchez is a 2B and Pedroia is out-producing him. Hanley is a fantastic SS yes, but if we have Hanley we dont have Beckett and Lowell. You want to talk about a SS who got away, then talk about Cabrera. Can people honestly say they wanted Rent-a-wreck back for another 3 years 30 mil after the season he had? He was one of the worst everyday players in the MLB, granted hes having a nice season but it was a gift to dump him and actually get value for him. Im pretty disappointed to say the least with Lugo and I think he needs to go down in the lineup to the 9 spot and try and turn this around. With his contract hes here for a while so best thing to hope for is a turnaround.

The next Nomar? Where the hell did you dig that up, or did you just fabricate it?

Hes a quality major league player, who busts his ass and had an unfortunate thing happen to him today.

As much as I love the RedSox....if I were a player, you couldnt pay me enough money to stay the f*** outta this place with its fanbase.....christ

Chin, we need Lugo to get started for us.....to start getting some hits and getting on base and stealing a few sacks. If and when that happens the fans will rally to his support. If you remember he had always played well at Fenway and this seemed like a natural place for him to land. Fact is, I cannot understand what's happened to the guy. No doubt he is pressing but Tito has been completely patient with him waiting for the guy to erupt. Maybe a move down to eighth in the order might relax him a bit. Maybe.

another Theo Blunder.

When is Theo going to be fired?

If you want to post here, don't make all of your posts identical. We get it, you don't like Theo, but there are other topics to discuss as well.

it is tough to vary it up when you get guys like Lugo locked up for 4 years while we're still stuck paying for 2 more years of Edgar, then we give huge money for 5 years to JD Drew, and how long are we stuck with Coco?

You sir, are an idiot.

Theo has made some bad moves but why don't you shed light on the good ones?

Wish I could come out with answer to your question Fire that would satisfy you and me but I cannot. I think Theo for the most part is a good GM; I would rate him a solid "B". It doesn't mean he can't try working himself to an "A" by upgrading a team that needs some of that. One way would be to get Coco out of the lineup; he has become an albatross offensively and the only way he could be a big help is if most of the rest of the lineup hits well. Then maybe we could carry a weak bat but with Lugo smelling up the joint we cannot carry Crisp in the lineup unless he starts hitting. He did get one hit Sunday and hit the ball hard in another at bat so maybe I can grasp at a few straws.

How can you give him a solid B? He won with mainly Duquette guys, and Foulke and Schilling were Lucchino moves. We haven't won a playoff game since he dismantled the 2004 team, and he's set records for most money spent without a playoff win (2005) and largest payroll to miss the playoffs (2006). That is horrible, and is more like D- than a solid B.

We should get a good GM.

Who would you suggest? Again, in my opinion Theo has done a decent job for the most part. Yes, he has had some real bad screwups but let me remind you that Schilling WAS a Theo move and so was Foulke. He traded for Cabrera and Menky and Roberts, he signed Big Papi, refused to trade Manny for chaff, signed Matsuzaka, Drew and Lugo, and in the case of the first two it would work out for us very well. Let's give Lugo another few weeks because I think he will recover. What he has to do is admit mistakes and get rid of Pena, bring up Moss or Murphy or Ellsbury and try to get Lester ready as soon as we can for the back of our rotation.

in 2003, theo refused to trade casey fossum for bartolo colon. why? bartolo was old and washed up, and fossum was the future. you think he suddnely changed his mind when a 38 year old who was on the DL named curt became available? No. Lucchino told him to make that move. Theo has shown one thing: He will not trade young pitching prospects for veterans. that is his golden rule (hansen for oswalt?).

And Foulke was Theo's move? What? Theo hates paying money for closers. His first act of genius was "closer by committee". But the next year he went out and bought the most expensive closer on the market? Again, no f'ing way!! Lucchino.

And I don't think it was Theo refusing to trade Manny. Theo wanted Manny GONE. That, again, was Lucchino insisting.

Theo did trade Nomar, I'll give him credit for that. But those other moves were Larry. It wasn't until post 2004 when Theo finally received control of the team, and he's been blunder after blunder since.

GREAT INFIELD YOU GOT THERE CORA AND LUGO. HAHAHAAHAHAHA

One of the best comebacks I've seen in quite a while here. Nice work, Sir.

Rician, don't even waste your time with that clown. He doesn't know s*** from shinola. Ask him why his team can't beat the Angels, can't beat the Padres, can't beat the Giants, can't beat any of their main rivals, and when he blabbers you will know all you need to know about the guy.

Jackson, those clowns no longer come on to bug me; they come on now to bug all of us. However, you are smart enough by just reading that dork's missive that most of that outfit knows about as much baseball as we do about about Yak grazing in Nepal.

Kilo, once again youth triumphs over age. Great idea---but they won't go away for long. You know what I've come to believe? That those guys actually come on here to see what real baseball fans are like, the kind that know the game and its finer points, and the kind of fans who really and truly live and die with their beloved Red Sox.

Now, here's an even better idea. Let's get ourselves mentally ready to give off the vibes that will help our team win that third game of the series today. Hopefully, we will combine both the pitching and hitting this afternoon. Catch you later; I'm off on my morning walk.
