Fred...did that really happen?

Haha, did you get "honest injun" from Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?

Schill, you have to remember that I'm a senior citizen, 66 years old, even though I'm a big kid at heart. We had all sorts of names back when I was a tyke----honest injun, indian giver, indian hokum, hell, we had wierd names for all sorts of things, especially my kid years in New York where I first learned to be a Yankee hater.

That story is absolutely true and I have to tell you at first I had no clue who those people were clapping for. I guess they all saw me head for the hills when that ******* security man ran for the cops and they were pulling for their fellow Red Sox fan. I knew right then that's where I belonged. The security people never came back and we had a blast seeing the Sox come back and win. Aside from that game, 2001 was a shitpile year for our team.

...that was the point, I'm sure.

If he's dead he doesn't need a Wii. Metro Cowboy doesn't need Fred's approval.

Ok Schill, so everyone approves I withdraw my approval.

Yeah...2001 really did suck. The no-no was awesome though :)

Fred, I know it was your first year as a Sox fan...but you remember the 1999 playoffs right? Knoblauch's phantom tag on Offerman? Oh boy...don't get me started. I was so pissed.

The D-Backs are playing extra innings right now. Hopefully they'll get a bit tired while we get some damn sleep and we absolutely roll them tomorrow night.

We go out and get Josh Beckett five or six runs and we should win. This one and two run crap has got to stop.

Schill, I remember that very well. All I did after that play was rant about all the freakin' Yankee luck. You can almost list dozens of lucky breaks they got between 1996 and 2000. The one that still frosts my ass was that interference by the fan in RF that was missed by the umpires and turned into a big hit for the Bronx Bastards---as I used to call them in my less than classy days. Again, though, Schill, I really regret I didn't find the Red Sox until later in my life. They were there all the time; they were the team for me and I was too blind to see it. Talk about stupidity. Now you know why I'm so rabid; why I want to win every freakin' game and why I panic when they lose two in a row. Catching up is very hard to do.

Hahahaa' date=' no no. It wasn't meant to be aimed at you, it was meant to clarify mtbykr as to what Metro Cowboy was saying.[/quote']

I was just trying to be a little funny. A win by our team will do that to me. MTB was one of my first friends when I came on this board in the fall of 2005. BTW, take a look at Metro Cowboy's avatar. That's me in October, 1982. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but in my friend Joe's case that would be a reach.

 Fair enough, I suppose. Sometimes I just worry for your mental health...it can't be healthy to get as worked up as you do, lol. I know you like to have as big of a gap in the standings in possible, but in the realm of realism...this is probably as big as it's going to be (maybe slightly larger). That's obviously not to say that I wouldn't love to see it grow, but I just don't think it's going to be much larger. The benefit of having such a big lead is that we can afford to have slumps and a small stretch of s***** baseball. The Yankees are still double digits in games behind us, and Schill's outing today probably did wonders for our club heading forward. Look for a monstrous outing from Beckett tomorrow, and for our offense to wake up against the inferior NL.

You're ok in my book Schill. Imagine a senior in high school having a more realistic sense of proportion that a senior citizen? Well we could be the Dodgers. They just blew a 5-1 lead in the ninth to the Padres and lost 6-5. I don't think Metro Cowboy will be visiting us for a few days at least as he recovers from shock. Then, again, remember Grady Little is now managing that team and we all know how he screwed us out of the 2003 AL Flag and a probable WS Title. He decided not to use his ace closer Saito and payed the price. Let's get them tomorrow my friend.

ANYWAY...tomorrow.

Who gets the rest? Ortiz, Lowell, or Youk? I personally would rather see Youk get the day off with Papi at 1B because I don't think he's gotten a day off in a bit. I'm sure we'll see each one on the bench since there are 3 games...

It sucks because these 3 players happen to be 3 of the teams' best hitters at the moment.

I think Papi will get the day off game 3. Tito always seemed to rest him when Randy Johnson was starting

They just reported on dale n holley that the whole yank clubhouse was watching the shill no hitter. When stewart got that hit in the 9th the clubhouse erupted in cheers, high fives, ect....You always hear the players say they route for each other, and that the rivalry is with the fans....sure:rolleyes:

Uh...who cares?

Schilling had a great performance. We won the game increased are lead things are looking great. Beckett time to dominate get that 9th win.

Your grammar's a little bitter' date=' but your post quality hasn't improved. That's the big issue here.[/quote']

Ok than what should that last post have been about?I don't understand how thats bad quality?

Whats worse? Losing a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth or losing a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth on a lined single by a guy named "Shannon"?

Not as bad as losing a perfecto to a guy named "Ben Davis"

Your content is completely empty. Actually "SAY" something. We know Schilling did good, and we know Beckett is a stud, give us some different information.

That was more of the problem then your grammar and spelling. Otherwise, I read your post and take nothing from it.

Whenever you hear Jeter talk about the rivalry he always says how it's just a another team in our division, we don't care anymore, want to win regarldless, blah blah blah. You can tell he's full of it, but It's cool to see they care.

Do you always get this uppity?

It's a reasonable question. Two lefthanders, no DH.

Absolutely. And it isnt like Papi is anything special on defense. In fact, putting the big man out there in the field is a health risk. Plus, with his hammies barking, giving him PH duty for 2 days wont kill you.

you didnt increase your lead. The Yankees won. And no, the other teams in the league dont count.

Oh well, guess what... Papi is in todays game. His bat is too valuable to sit him for 2 out of 3 games

And why should be facing lefties be a matter to not play Ortiz, last time I checked he's no Trot Nixon when facing southpaws

I'm guessing the last time you checked wasn't this year.

0 HRs, .736 OPS vs. southpaws

11 HRs, 1.217 vs. RHP

Youks

2 HR, .956 OPS vs. southpaws

6 HR, .968 OPS vs. RHP

Im really not worried about Ortiz having to face lefties in this series. Yes those are helpful stats' date=' but Id still want his bat in the lineup to face them.[/quote']

but there is a risk everytime he takes the field. Doing something you arent accustomed to doing is grounds for injury. Ortiz playing 1st more than once in this series is stupid when he has barking hammies AND you guys have such a big lead.
