The negativity in here sucks.

I'll come back later to read the thread after the Sox won the game.

I don't like when the 100 million dollar man walks the bases loaded and then Lugo makes 2 straight errors. Sue me.

The guy's got issues with control pitching out of the stretch. So far he's putting up some of the weirder numbers I've ever seen. 35 pitches, 1 hit, 5 runs.

And Lugo has to have a big night now. 2 errors?

Looks like Daisuke Matsuzaka is not the next Pedro Martinez....possibly not the next anything unless he learns to throw the ball over the plate

Well, clearly something is not right with him right now. His control was not a significant issue for him in the past. I'm not ready to write him off, but I'm thoroughly confused.

Get over it. It's not your money. Besides, the contract is really only 52 million.

well, Dice-K usually just has one bad inning per game, hopefully thats out of the way and I always like our chances of getting at least 6 runs at Fenway and we've still got 9 innings to work with. it aint ovah

Something has been off with Dice-K since his first start against the Yankees

First 3 starts

1-2, 2.70 ERA

20 innings, 17 Hits, 6 Runs, 1 HR, 5 Walks, 24 Ks

Last 3 starts

2-0 (soon to be 2-1 unless offense barrels through and the sox pitching does shutout the rest of the way), 9.00 ERA

14 innings, 14 Hits, 15 Runs (14 ER), 1 HR, 8 Walks, 14 Ks

I would be blown away if we got through the rest of this game without giving up another run

I am negative because this guy was talked up by everyone all off-season as the second coming. From what I have seen is that he can't throw strikes when he wants to, and he gets rattled way to easily. I am also negative because I just don't think Lugo can play, especially not for 40 million.

They are going to need to do something. I'm not that worried, honestly, as it is still early in this guy's career, but 5 runs in the 1st with only 1 out is unacceptable. Walks are unacceptable.

i tought lugo was supposed to be an upgrage on gonzo on defense crespo?

I don't think that's possible...

Im not ready to start getting worried about when he pitches, but something is definitely off balance here. Im dumbfounded

EDIT: Off the top of my head, is it pitching at home? Home/Road stats are day & night

Some well hit balls that inning....still not a dominating inning by any means

no, but after allowing 5 runs, take a 1-2-3 inning any way you can get it

Gonzo was one of the best defensive SS the sox have ever seen. And guess how he is doing now... hitting .330' date=' 4HR, 11 RBI...[/quote']

He was great defensively last year, no doubt, but I cannot stand that second part. Has Alex Gonzalez ever, in his career, given any hint that he could sustain those types of numbers? Ever? Would you bet $1000 dollars right now that he'll do it again for the month of May? Didn't think so.

And now it begins. This will be very enjoyable without the presence of TW101 and his ilk because the game is over to them, so I don't expect to hear from them.
