Bobby Abreu is an awful defensive player. Where did that notion that he's even remotely competent come from?

The same place that Matsui's does.

The Yankees' date=' believe it or not, had something to do with it.[/quote']

Sure the Yanks are playing great but a f***ing sweep. They didn't even put up a fight.

His slider is pretty awesome. His FB command' date=' hell even control, is nonexistant.[/quote']

Arizona Fall League - 37 2/3 IP, 3 BB

A Tampa - 40 IP, 11 BB, 2.48 BB/9, 0.9 WHIP

AA Trenton - 40.1 IP, 15 BB, 3.35 BB/9, 1.17 WHIP

AAA Scranton - 8 IP, 1 BB, 1.13 BB/9, 0.75 WHIP

He hasn't shown fantastic command of his fastball in his first three outings, but I think you have to give it a chance. Does he have spot on control, no. Do I expect him to walk the ballpark, no.

Damon is not a liability when healthy in the field. Now' date=' its true, he may have a better arm than my grandfather [who happens to be dead'], but he does cover a decent amount of range. Look, I hope Melky turns out to be something special. We shall see.

Have you been watching highlights of the 2001 Oakland A's?

Damon's obviously lost some ground in the outfield. He was a barely average fielder in 2005, and many people predicted he was going to continue to decline. His FRAA was a - in 2006. This guy is a liability. He doesn't deserve to start over Cabrera, and the Yankee offense is much better with Giambi as the DH. The bench is the best place for Damon.

I forgot the O's bend over for the yankees

If it wasn't for Gagne, they would have bent over for you guys as well. As it is now, we only have to win one of the next two games to take the series. If we win tomorrow, Thursday is a free game.

What are you basing that on? Joba has had excellent control at all levels. He doesnt have pinpoint accuracy, but he'll get it near where he wanted to nearly every time. And the majors have been no different.

I like seeing the bulldog mentality, the kid is a beast with a cannon for an arm. He looks to be a nice trump card coming into the playoffs.

I'm basing it on what I've seen. I watched him in the Futures game and I finally got to see him pitch for the Yankees last night. He couldn't throw it for a strike to Tejada until he took something off at 3-1, and that pitch was cookie, middle-middle. He threw one really well located FB yesterday.

With his stuff, I think you can ignore the small sample size BB/rates at his MiLB stops. He blows kids away with that suff. I think he's got some work to do before he'll dominate the bigs after people have seen him.

He did take something off that pitch (95 according to the YES gun), but I don't think it was right down the middle. That pitch was inside and jammed Tejada in my opinion.

You can check the location on gameday from yesterday. It's much closer to the middle than the corner.

Right now, considering his health, I like him at 1B, platooning with Duncan, and Phillips as the late inning defensive replacement. Betemit plays super sub role.

Tonight's game wasn't surprising. A loss with Karstens starting isn't something that's going to keep many fans up at night.

a 12-0 loss when recieving 9 walks, on a day when the Red Sox win in August when the lead is at 4 should, though.

if we are gonna lose, I'd rather it be a no doubter.

Then again, what the f*** happened? I worked all night, had to be in this am and I check the score and wow. I figured Karstens would get hit, but we couldnt hit Cabrera? Oh well. Sometimes, he is just flat out untouchable.
