id like to see Pena and Matos possibly get invites.

any news on where Trot may be headed??

Reports last month had the Pirates being involved, but recently came word that Trot is negotiating with 2 teams (Pittsburgh not either). Smart move by Trot to leer off from joining that bottom-dwellar. My money is on him signing with the Philladelphia Philles to be part of a platoon with youngster Shane Victorino, and his HR rate would go up in that park. Im thinking Trot waited out this long to see if there was any chance he could remain with Boston.

If I were Theo I would take a flyer on Jesus Colome. You can always use to take a chance on a scrap heap reliever and every now and then you get lucky, ala Aaron Small w/ yankees.

It is the free agents that are left over' date=' I'll edit it for you[/quote']

I figured that out, thanks. Before I wrote that post, even.

the Sox should see if Jeff Weaver will sign a Minor League Deal, cuz from what I saw last year he turned things around and was pretty clutch at the end of the year...

You got to be kidding me.

Weaver has got the stuff. Greatr arm. If last year helped him develop some confidence, he could turn himself around. He's only 30 years old, and he has 8 yrs of major league experience.

Weaver got a new lease on life with the Cards. He looked like an entirely different pitcher with them than he did with the Angels. We saw Weaver throw a few times last year in Anaheim and he was hit all over the lot, that, and falling behind one batter after another. Either the NL is even a weaker league that I thought or he suddenly found a pitching coach who could turn him around. Just the same, I would pass on him.

I hate to see Nixon on that list. I was hoping he would have found a home by now. I wonder if he was holding out hope the Red Sox would give him an offer and bring him back. The guy gave his all when he was able to play, a real dirt dog. Hopefully he gets on a team that gives him a chance to revive what's left of his career.

Make no mistake about it, Jeff Weaver was awful last year. Despite his lower ERA, his strikeout rate was lower in STL and his walk rate was higher. His homerun rate dropped only slightly upon moving along.

The fact that Weaver was given a CHANCE to pitch meaningful games for the Cardinals was more a problem of their pitching depth than his merits as a regular season pitcher. Don't let a couple good postseason games fool you, this guy stinks.

He may get a nice contract based on his postseason performance, but he won't deserve it. This guy doesn't belong in the AL East.

Ronnie Belliard and Shannon Stewart are good players in my opinion, any idea where they are headed, I'm not talking about the Red Sox signing them, they just jumped out as better players.
