What do we do with this guy? Numbers aside, he has the stuff to be a solid #3 on most staffs. What do we do wit him? I dont think we DL him for the year and I also dont think we buy him out as that probably would have already been done. Matsuzaka essentially takes his place in the rotation.

he may have HAD the stuff to be a number three, but no one knows if he can even throw right now. his surgery, which was supposed to be exploratory, turned into a major reconstruction...aka his shoulder is effed up

Clement is likely done in Boston. His surgery + recovery will take him at least to the AS break and by then he will still be a shadow of himself. He will leave shamed and go somewhere where nobody cares about baseball.

if he gets healthy, throw him in the pen, and work him back into the rotation if necessary

hence the emoticon...

but yea, he's done in a Sox uni unless he takes a Wade Miller-esque deal and we find ourselves in a position where were desperate for a starter after this year

Apparently he doesn't get warmed up quickly enough to be in the bullpen. But who would I move to the bullpen so he could start? I'm not sure

Can't move Schilling - he's a solid 1 starter

Can't move Matsuzaka - not in his first year?

Can't move Papelbon - for risk of his arm

Can't move Wakefield - the guy is an innings eater and works best as a starter

Beckett? Lester?

Are you serious about Beckett? What the hell...why are you even thinking about moving ANYONE from the rotation for Clement? You never would, so this discussion doesn't need to happen. It won't go anywhere anyway.

Like I said, people think he doesn't have what a relief pitcher needs. The only logical choice would be to put him in the starting rotation if not the bullpen. And of course, trading/waiving is there too.

You're kidding' date=' right?[/quote']

There should be a lock on this thread, my migraine has come back full force

--Clement as closer

--Clement bumping Beckett out of the rotation

--Clement even pitching with the Red Sox in 2007

No V2, there is a better choice and that is to get him out of town as quickly as time will permit. He's done physically until mid-season 2007 and by then our staff should be settled in and there would be no room for a guy who has as much backbone as a chocolate eclair.

Hey! At least chocolate eclair's provide some form of relaxation. They're delicious. The only thing that happens to me when I see Clement is a cringe attack. Don't degrade the chocolate eclairs!

OOOOOPPPPPPSSSSS, ok, no chocolate eclairs. How about as much backbone as a sponge cake? That better?::thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
