i wouldnt mind him being Loretta from 2004's clone.

Loretta's a career .300 hitter with a career obp of .365, so id be fine with Pedroia putting up those numbers

Not only don't I want to see Hinske in the starting lineup' date=' I am hoping he is not even on the bench.[/quote']

Yes, if he is starting that would mean he wouldn't be on the bench... I sure hope your new or something cuz u have no idea what your talking about, especially when you say that Dustin Pedroia sucks...

anyway...

1. Lugo/Coco

2. Coco/Lugo/Youk

3. Big Papi

4. Manny

5. Drew

6. Tek/Lowell

7. Lowell/Tek

8. Youk/Coco

9. Pedroia

I think Coco and Tek will have a bounce back year now that they're healthy so Coco possibly could be leading off or batting second... if he is having trouble again I can see Youk batting 2nd and Coco in the 8 hole, I dont really like Youk hitting lead off cuz of his lack of speed but Lugo's leading off now anyway...

If Coco hit 8th it would bring some speed to the bottom of the order so if we needed to drop down a bunt in a clutch situation he could run it out... but Id like to see him at the top of the order...

Personally:

1). SS Lugo

2). 1B Youkilis

3). DH Ortiz

4). LF Ramirez

5). RF Drew

6). 3B Lowell

7). C Varitek

8). CF Crisp

9). 2B Pedroia

That's the Francona line up.

With our rotation and that line up, get us a closer and we may just win the division. That is a very nice line up. Youk, Lowell and Pedroia play some very nice D, as does Drew. This is going to be a fun season.

Yes' date=' if he is starting that would mean he wouldn't be on the bench... [/quote']

If he is not starting, he can't be on the bench? Why not?

I sure hope your new or something cuz u have no idea what your talking about' date=' especially when you say that Dustin Pedroia sucks...[/quote']I never said the guy sucks. He has no major skills, and you will not find a scout that will say that he does. He has average speed. Average arm. Slightly above average range. Below average power. He's not a can't miss prospect with major tools. I want him to win the job, not be handed the job.

After 40 years of following the Sox, I'm not not new to any of this. I've seen lots of second basemen throughout the years, and he doesn't make a big impression with his physical abilities. Maybe he will be a very solid second baseman, but he isn't going to be the next Joe Morgan or Ryne Sandberg.

From Sunday's Globe:

Palmeiro wants in

According to a friend of Palmeiro, the former Cubs, Orioles, and Rangers star wants to return to baseball even after the embarrassing events of 2005. Palmeiro, the highest-profile player ever to test positive for steroids, feels he's done the time and should be able to return. On Aug. 1, 2005, Palmeiro was suspended 10 games. He returned to the Orioles after the suspension but was out of baseball all of last year. The Cuban-born Palmeiro, 42, feels he can still hit.

Would you give him a chance to platoon with Youk? I would.

Palmeiro is a bonafide juicer, I believe he WAS tested positive for steroids in the 2005 season. He's also going to turn 43 years. It would be a f***ing disgrace to see him don a Red Sox uniform. Besides that Im expecting a good year by Youk, he doesnt need a platoon mate

PLEASE get Palmeiro. He might be the most hated man in baseball right now. And he folded like a lawn chair once the entire world turned on him two yrs ago. He'd be perfect in Boston after he goes 0 or 4 in his debut and people start bringing big syringe cutouts to the games.

Should all the players from that ERA be condemned? If not, it 's not fair to crucify only those that got caught.

BTW: It's ironic that the last Yankee Dynasty coincided with the decade of cheating.

Ya so why don't the Yankees get him so they can have one more ass wipe on there team...

I agree with Riverside Sluggers, Youk doesn't need a platoon mate at 1st, he's progressing every year...

you are right TGov, we are getting rid of the asswipes on our team.

you are right again, the sox dont need him at all. Youk is better than Raffy as it is. To deny his playing time further would be criminal.

The difference between the Bonds fiasco and a possible Palmeiro fiasco is that if he's at Fenway, he won't just have them thrown at him, he'll be f***ing stabbed with one of them by some crazy ass fan.

Are you seriously thinking about platooning someone with Youk? He had 102 RC last year, which put him 10th at one of the strongest hitting posistions. Please tell me you're kidding. Please.

Palmiero at 50 would be a better hitter than Youk.

are you listening to what you're saying?... for one, Palmiero wouldn't be a better hitter, two, he wouldn't be able to field, three he would make the Sox lose fans... four, he would sign a contract bigger than Youk's is and he would be 50... why am I even discussing this, this is just stupid... you should just not post anymore...

If he can't play, fine. If he wouldn't fit the team's plans or finances, fine, but don't knock the idea because he would cause the team to lose fans. That's just flat out ridiculous.
Posted
Yep cuz Youk is better...

Youk needs to show that he can play a whole season first.

Palmeiro is a Steroid aided slugger in an era without steroids. He's cooked. No thanks.

Posted
Palmerio's probably cooked, but 700hitter does have a point about a platoon. In his last year, he had a .281/.366/.489/.855 line against lefties. I don't know how much of that was steroid aided. Perez would make sense as a righty masher.

Carl Everett is an *******, but he hasnt been tested positive for steroids that we know of.

2007 offseason... Move Youk over to 3rd, court pending free agent Adam Dunn to play 1st base

??

You're talking about players juicing in the 90s... he gets a pass for being tested positive in 2005? Would this go to say that you are for steroids and wont mind at all hearing about current & ex Sox players juicing up??

Posted
If only Wily Mo could play first.
can we all agree never to reply to a700 again, he is out of his fu*%ing mind thinking we should sign Palmerio.

I don't even understand what your point is here. Are you saying that we should definitely NOT crucify those who are CAUGHT? Or that because only SOME people have been caught, NOBODY should be crucified? I don't get it.

Yes juicing in the 90s was widespread and we know some specific examples of it. Those guys should be crucified in my opinion. Then there is a lot of grey area.

Raffy is not in the grey area. He used roids, lied to congress like an ******* and even WITH Roids he was a boring, non-dominant player. What a joke 700.

You build your team with 43 year old Palmeros, the rest of us will build a team with mid 20s guys who get on base a whole lot for cheap. We'll see who wins and who draws more fans. Remember to factor in the time missed for steroid suspension if you're running a comparison between a teamful of youks and a teamful of mustacheroids.
