And don't talk about GM's when your went out and spent 45 million on a track star' date=' pretending to be a legit leadoff hitter/CF. I have nothing against JP, but that is the biggest joke of the off season so far.[/quote']

No, the biggest joke thus far is JD Drew getting a 5 year, $70 million contract. There is a reason this guy is hated by every team he has played for. He is gutless, heartless and soft. I am not saying this out of anger of him leaving or anything like that and I am not trying to rain on your parade. It is just the truth.

the bigger jokes are guys like Ted Lilly and Gil Meche getting 10 mil a year' date=' easily[/quote']

I gotta agree with that. That's not to say that the contract we gave Drew wasn't bad, but still - Lilly and Meche are not worth $10 million

Apparently, the KC Star is reporting that Meche is gonna get between 55 and 60 mil for a 5-year deal from the Royals.

Incredible....

i still think Soriano's deal was retarded. What if he has some type of career ending injury next year??

I do agree it was a bad deal but the possibility of an injury for a guy who hasn't had any major ones isn't really a fair way to judge a contract.

Gray Matthews or Carlos Lee for worst offseason deal.

lee hands down that guy had one good year mabee him and gary matthews are really bank robbers cause thats just what they did

Re porst on bosotn.com are that teh Sox aren't willing to go to 6 million gaurnteed. They're gunna wait n see what otehr teams offer.

What this guy deserves is a 1 year deal in the $3-4 million range with incentives that make it worth $8ish.

What he'll probably get is $5-6 million + incentives.

In a market where Meche gets $11 million a season for 5 years a $6 million commitment to Gagne doesn't seem like that much.

teams will ante up, just will it be someone that Gagne wants to go to is the question. I thought I saw that the Guardians have offered him 5mil, but he is looking for a better situation.

Yeah, we have a lot going for us. Cleveland, TB, and teh Sox are the main teams fromw hat Ive heard of. In CLE, he won't be closer, in Boston he will, TB is TB, nuff said. So it depends on how hard Boras pushes for the money, or if a team out of nowhere coems up with the cash and an open closer's spot.

again not really an appealing option. I think if the Red Sox offer something like 4-5mil and he gets an offer from the devil rays or whoever for 6mil than I think he takes the Red Sox offer because he can get more saves and more coverage. In a sense hes playing for next years contract so I dont think 1-2 mil would effect him enough to go to a place where he wont be able to put up numbers hes capable of.

Dodgers offerd up to 10 mil with incentives. Boras walked. Sorry but I thought that was fair enough for a player in his condition. He will use the Maz deal to help pad any deal with Gagne.

yeah cause out of the 10 mil only 1 was guaranteed , of corse he's gonna walk , they are seeking 6 mil as guaranted

Seems that they offerd a little more than 1 Mill.

This is from Rotoworld.

Eric Gagne rejected an offer from the Dodgers that would have guaranteed him about $4 million with a chance to make about $6 million more in incentives.

He turned down the Dodgers' offer of a $4M base with incentives totalling up to $10M
