Sorry' date=' I looked in the Yankee forum and the General Baseball forum and there was nothing there.[/quote']

Oh, I wasn't meaning to come off as aggressive towards you, I was just replying to Soxfan that instead of telling yankshater to be so "sensitive" towards the fact that another thread was made, maybe he should realize that it was the EIGHTH thread that was made on the topic and it's bound to get some people's attention.

I'm very upset by this. I don't really know what to say. I know Cory's only been a Yankee a few months, but he's been a personal favorite of mine for years. This is a verry sad thing that's happened. I'm pretty much at a loss for words; but on the other hand what can you say?

RIP

I'm sure most of you have heard by now but for those who haven't, Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle was killed today when the airplane he was piloting crashed into an apartment building in Manhattan.

I don't know about you guys, but I was in complete shock when I first heard a plane crashed into a building in NYC but even more shocked when I found out Lidle was the pilot.

This is definitely one of those times where it doesn't matter which cap you support, it's a tragedy by all accounts. My thoughts go out to Lidle's family and friends.

f***ing crazy man. I heard about the crash first, then heard remarks on sports radio about "how will he (some player) deal with the news about Lidle". I didn't put the two pieces together until I heard the sports news.

Its just nuts... not much else to say other than I'm sorry for his family and friends and my thoughts go out to them...

I was stunned to hear this news. My heart goes out to his family, specially the 7 year old kid.

On the flip side, though, I have to admit that I was thinking this is the Yankees fault for not beating the Tigers, because Corey would not have been flying if we were still in the playoffs. I know its crass, but in some way the Yankees' pathetic showing in the ALDS caused the death of Corey Lidle. You may flame me now, I won't blame you. I'm just telling you the truth.

RIP Corey, sorry we couldn't win it for you.

The same thought crossed my mind, then I banished it forever until I ran into your comment. Jeez, what horrible people we both are.

It is not the Yankees fault though. It's Lidle's fault or the fault of the mechanic who last worked ont he plane, or God or someone. Baseball is far away at a time like this.

I just got home and read this thread. I had heard about the crash on my blackberry when it happened and am just now catching up. Seriously, you guys started 10 threads about this?

Anyway, sad news. If anything at all positive can be made out of this it is that he died doing something he loved. Not many can say that.

Sorry for the other 3 though.

I can't even believe it. I really dread to imagine what Yanks fans must have felt when they lost their captain in Munson, because even though Lidle wasn't the captain, or even on the team for an entire season, I am totally devastated. I guess it's true, only the good die young. Rest in peace.

It's a ridiculous thought, but I admit, it crossed my mind too.
