ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Mets could be close to getting Oliver Perez and Roberto Hernandez from the Pirates. No word yet on what would go back. The Mets wouldn't want to give up Lastings Milledge for those two, but it's hard to see how they could do it without surrendering Aaron Heilman.

 

Hernandez is a great pickup for the Mets, Oliver Perez... has lost a lot of value

The Royals/Rockies trade was a very good one for both teams, IMO. Bautista throws pretty hard (he's actually Pedro's cousin) and despite his struggles, i've always liked Affeldt. Good for Shealy that he's out of Colorado and can be a full time player somewhere. Should fit pretty well in KC.

Yeah, getting highly touted prospects like Shealy and Gathright. This team will definately be a huge contender in like 4 or 5 years.

Also MLB.com says the Rangers got Stairs from the Royals for Joselo Diaz, who had pitched in 28 games for Triple-A Oklahoma with a 3.28 ERA and four saves.

very, very minor deal, but Neifi Perez has been dealt to the Tigers as a short term replacement for Polanco.

Apparently the Phillies think they're still in it as they are still dealing. Today they picked up Jose Hernandez from the Pirates for cash.
