Carlos Lee To Be Dealt To Rangers

 

The Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Rangers as part of a multi-player deal, ESPN's Keith Law has learned. The Brewers are sending Lee, Nelson Cruz and a player to be named to Texas for reliever Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix. Both teams are working on the medicials.

That trade could keep the Brewers competitve thought. Getting a bat and a bullpen arm. not a bad trade

this is not how i envisioned the deal, i thought the Brew Crew would ask for prospects, but Mench and Coco are good.

That Texas offense is dominant, but their pitching is shaky. They could definitely make a run in the West, as they're only 1 1/2 games back or so. Michael Young, Tex, Blalock and Lee is absolutely devastating.

I might have to give the leg up to the Brewers on this trade. I can understand where the Rangers are coming from but they need arms. The pitching staff is weak already and they just made it worse. Clearly they are going to attempt to out-slug everyone.

 

Good trade for the Brewers though. I've always liked Nix and Mench will do fine in the NL. Even more so...Cordero should do much better in the NL.

Nelson is siiiiiick he has like 18 hrs in AAA and is only going to get better

On baseball prospectus, Mench is the most comparable player to Lee.

Just me, but I think this is a very stupid trade for the Brewers, I mean very stupid, I think Gabe Gross and Cory Hart would have been much better options than Mench, as well as cheaper too, CoCo is 31 years old and his best years are behind him, and Nix is hitting 263/.316/.427 at Triple A, after batting .091 in the Majors. He's also 25 years old now too. The Brewers could have gotten alot more than they did for Lee and they got no starting pitching in the deal.

i actually think the Brewers are the smarter team in this deal. The Rangers need pitching, but they dealt their major trading chip, Kevin Mench, for another hitter

 

Meanwhile, the Brewers do not lose that much offense and get a quality reliever to add to a pitching staff that will be getting better

One of the dumbest trades all year. they got some guy who blew 5 straight saves(mlb record) after their own closer blew 4 straight WTF?? some other guy who cant even bat 100 then some scrub outfielder.

They have no use for Lee. He will leave after this year. Is this Mench's last year too?

mench is signed through 2007 along with cordero.

Cordero can get back to form. Mench is a bat for this year and next year. Lee will be leaving the Rangers for (imo) the cubs. That nelson guy has not proven himself in the Majors yet. This was a equal deal if nelson works out. This is a better deal for the rangers if Lee becomes the playoffs beltran. This becomes a better deal for the Brewers if cordero can get back to form or if Nelson does not work out.

Lee DH'd for Texas tonight went 2 for 4 and the Rangers got spanked by KC.
