Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Wagner have been traded from the Reds to the Nationals for the Gary Majewski, Bill Bray, Royce Clayton, Brendan Harris and Daryl Thompson.

OK, we take back every bad thing we've ever said about Jim Bowden. This looks like a complete and total steal for the Nationals. Kearns will probably head to center for now until Jose Guillen or Alfonso Soriano is trade. Lopez becomes the shortstop. Wagner figures to head to Triple-A. Jul. 13 - 3:44 pm et

That the hell are the Reds doing?

Felipe Lopez is one of the best young shortstops out there and Austin Kearns is a power hitting outfielder, and the Reds are in a pennant race too. Michael Bowden Owns the Reds on this trade

you mean jim bowden....michael is the sox pitching prospect

its in advance of another, larger deal it seems

on the surface i think the nats did better

Which team is making this supposed "larger deal"?? I'm guessing its the Nationals?? Since they just got Kearns maybe they are ready to deal Soriano??

is kearns a big earner??

lopez i believe is a youngster,i see these guys all the time

i find this cinci team very exciting to watch between the mashers like dunn and the speedsters like their leadoff guy(name escapes me) they were using lopez in the 2 spot and kearns i think hit 5th??

anyways the nats got better

the reds younger

majewski i saw in the bullpen, not too bad so far

darryl thompson was a top 10 prospect, brendan harris will spot the aging royce clayton and the other guy is a pitcher bill bray who is still in A ball i believe??

i dont know what the f*** is going on here unless the reds wanted to dump money

they improved their bullpen which can be described as sucky at best

but lost some speed and pop in the process

runs arent the reds problem

their pitching is

Felipe Lopez is replaced by Royce Clayton and they "bulk up the bullpen" with Gary Majewski?

The Nats should be jumping for joy, they can now trade Soriano

Posted

how would trading soriano make any team jump for joy??

the washington franchise doesnt draw s***,never did and i suspect they never will

their best player is soriano maybe an argument can be made that vidro is better allaround

how is dumpimg him going to increase an already lame attendence?

this franchise has been dismantled, rebuilt then dismantled in every single year ive watched baseball, one of these years theyre actually going to have to go for it and try to win lest they move the dc franchise for the 3rd time in 45 years

heh the Reds may actually be more mismanaged than the Pirates. How do you make an 8 player trade when you're having your best season of the decade? Especially one where you give up 2 good players for an old man and 3 nobodies.

it makes no sense unless these guys they picked up are some leverage for a bigger deal at the end of the month

i have no clue as to what theyre thinking about

the nl central is as wide open as madonnas anus, everybody is capable except the cubs of winning this thing

ha

i wrote houston off long ago, theyre back in it now as well

This doesnt accomplish anything for the Reds. Royce Clayton? He cannot be the starting shortstop for a playoff contender. Brendan Harris? He is not very good either. The only way this could be good for the Reds is that it opens up more playing time for Ryan Freel, but personally, I'd rather have Kearns & Lopez rather than Freel & Clayton. In this deal Krivsky should've asked for at least one good hitter, such as Ryan Church, who is still rotting away in AAA I believe.

This is one of the worst trade that I've seen in a while. Was the Reds front office high while making this deal?
