Sharks and Canucks in the West; Rangers and Sens in the East look to be the early favorites.

Canucks new uniforms look like s***. So do the Sharks and Wild. I like the Bruins uniform changes.

Most of the new uniforms look like s***. I'm undecided on a few, but for the most part the original six teams that kept their looks are the teams that look the best.

As for the NHL starting... didn't the NHL just end in June?

Are they getting rid of them already?

I guess the new uniform offers a greater range of motion, but they actually soak up sweat as the game goes on, which makes the jersey heavier.

From all I've been hearing, the players hate these jerseys - apparently they do the exact opposite of what the commercials say. they soak up water, they don't breathe, they trap in heat, etc.

The league is gonna stay with these jerseys for a while because they simply have too much tied up in them to do anything else.

If more and more of the key players in the game keep complaining all season, the league might be forced to do something. Bettman won't do s*** unless Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin and the other "Faces of the NHL" throw hissy fits about the jerseys.

Anyways, Sabres season opener tonight. Let's go Buffalo!

They're here to stay for at least a little while. I remember hearing that these uniforms weren't "designed" for horizontal stripes to look good, and that any striping and piping on the jerseys would be vertical. Some teams apparently bought into this... but the original six teams didn't, I guess... all of their uniforms look as they did with the older template.

I hear the same things about the uniforms... after a testing session or a practice or something where the players wore those uniforms a few months back, I remember reading about one player throwing his in the trash.

The horizontal lines look bad on the new jerseys. For an example see the Sharks new jerseys. Horrible.

The Kings only made a few changes, and I like theirs a lot. The classic original 6 teams look good too.

If they're done right they look good, like on the Original six. The horizontal stripes look fine, it's what you do with 'em that may look like s***... the Sharks f***ed up their whole identity the second they messed with the shark.

Ew...

On an unrelated note... Minnesota looks fantastic...

Why does Minnesota have that horizontal tan line across the shoulders? They look like Christmas elves.

Rangers playing in Ottawa tonight, a good early matchup of two of the top teams in the east. I already like Chris Drury. The guy is always in the right place at the right time. And Scott Gomez is amazing breaking down the defense and bringing the puck into the zone. I can't wait for these guys to start developing some real chemistry with their linemates. Prucha and Callahan with anybody in the middle is an excellent third line as well.

Montreal canadians have been the surprise team of the year so far, I tought they would be fighting for playoff spot all year , but still lots of game to be played we'll see how they hold up.

as of now its the wings in a league of their own , they have by far the best defense in the game , will see if they can finally get it done this year , they better!

rsr, have you been watching the Bruins recently at all? If so, what do you think?

I mean, if they play this way they can play with anyone, but I just don't know what to expect because they're insanely inconsistent.

the big problem with boston is their offense, wich is why their inconsistent, Boston will go as far as tim thomas take's them , he's been great all year

IMO, lack of scoring depth will be their downfall.

I still watch quite a few games each year and attend a few per year as well, and while this hot streak is exciting, the B's are what they are. Tonight's game was a blast to watch.

Random thoughts in the B's:

Thomas is having an excellent year, but he's not Martin Brodeur until he does it in the playoffs. I like their character recently, but I think that goes only so far...they're still a number of talented players away from contending, even considering Bergeron and Alberts are injured.

My feeling is that the Bruins scouting system is suspect...they're at or very near the salary cap, so any talent shortfall is not in the lack of spending, it is in what they spend their payroll on and their recent historical inability to find young superstars..Bergeron is about the best they've come up with in the last 5 years, and there are single teams that have drafted and developed 3 or 4 Bergeron-level players in that time span.

I do love this kid Lucic as well...he hits and hustles and knows how to play the game.

Bruins creeping up the standings with 6 in a row, looking strong heading into the final stretch. Great game today, come from behind, then win in a shootout vs. Atlanta after wiping the floor with the two best teams in the East.

Bruins are playing well, they've got a great defense there.

Rangers are finally getting their act together. Save the collapse in Montreal, they've played crisp, complete games the last month. Henrik has been solid, if not spectacular in spots, and the offense is clicking. Dubinsky amazes me every game, Avery is playing the best hockey he's played with the Rangers, and Shanahan has been scoring since coming back from injury. They just have to stay focused down the stretch, and there should be a high seed waiting for them at the end of the season.

Another blow out loss for the B's. There sucking wind right now and need a quick turnaround.

Saturday they play the Caps (who beat 'em 10-2 last time out). Someone better put a body on Ovechkin.

I havent seen such pathetic defense since....well never

the cleveland barons

the california golden seals

the colorado rockies

the kansas city scouts

the atlanta flames

all failed franchises and none ever had a week of defensive ineptitude as we've witnessed this week.

they had a 1 goal game this week and theyre still avergaing 6 pucks a game against us.

Id pay 500.00 to see stan jonathan and johnny wensink back on the ice for just 1 shift

Ted Green comes out of retirement!!! I remember one of the best sports weekends of my life, as a kid, went to the Boston Garden for a weekend, saw a hockey game with Ted Green, a Celtics game with Hank Finkel and the Harlem Globetrotters in the span of two days.

i hate ed giacomin, gilles villemieux and rod gilbert.

vic hadfield sucked and too bad brad park and ratelle finished their careers in boston or id add in on them too.

dale rolph took it in the ass.

that rangers team was damn near as good as we were and they were around for a while.

the 75 season the rangers and philly were tied 2-2 in game 5 and dave schultz beat rolph so bad for 10 minutes while the entire ranger team sat and watched....as i said, for 10 minutes.....emile francis shouldve been shot for not sending somebody in with a stick to take out schultz...

that was the end of the rangers and outside 1994 they havent been heard from again

(the 79 team got close again but the habs(perhaps the best team in history) took them out 4-1....

i am not a guy who remembers the original 6 vividly

when i began playing and watching there were 12 teams then the sabres and canucks came in 71? i think?

the flames and isles came in 72-73

when the league had 14 teams i knew almost every player from every team

i remember gilles miloche and carol vadnais when they played for the california golden seals,we sent them reggie leach for vadnais and 2 years later leach scored 64 goals playing next to bobby clarke in philly.

i used to stay up with dad on weekend nites to watch the games out in vancouver or la or oakland...anyone remember those uni's the seals wore?

WHITE SKATES?

the kings had this lovely purple outfit that had a gigantic crown, the canucks had a uniform that looked like a whales head with a hockey stick thru it...

hockey is bloated and the fact is the men are now so big theres not enuff ice for the great skaters to take advantage of it

what i would pay for 1 season like we had in the 70s?

winning it all is nice but just one more time give me orr vs magnussen

or cashman vs johnny boy ferguson or pie mckenzie against pit martin.

christ that was great and now?? now we have un gatz

I witnessed (via TV) the ultimate indignity last night.

First off, the B'splayed one of their better B's-Habs games last night and still came up short. I'm ok with that since I think the B's are not a very good team. This isn't what bothered me.

As I mentioned in a post a few weeks back, again, in the BRUINS HOUSE, there was a plethora of Canadien jerseys...a few is one thing, but there were quite a few...that's at least somewhat disturbing....but still isn't what's really on my mind.

When I put the game on, I wasn't sure where they were playing. Chara had picked up the puck behind the B's net and there was a solid round of boos. I though they must be in Montreal. wrong...B's came across center ice and I see the spoked B. The fkn Canadien fans were more vocal than the Bruins fans. And it gets worse...with a minute or so to go you could hear the "na-na-na-na, hey-hey, goodbye" chant that those of us who have watched this rivalry for the past 30 years or so have grown all too accustomed to.

In the Bruins home arena? This is an all time low for the Bruins and I'm thoroughly disgusted.

validates what i've thought about the bruins all year... irrelevant.

celts, pats, redsox... the bruins can't hold a flame to them at all right now.
