I'm proud of how the Bruins have played. Asking them to push it to a game 7 would have been way too much to ask, but they did it. I just wanted the B's to beat the f***ing Habs once. I got to see it three times. Sweet.

The better team won, but the Bruins gave us a series to enjoy, and that's all we could have asked for. Oh well, see ya next year.

Oh, if Kessel had been playing games 2-4, we might have actually been able to win this series without having to play tonight, lol.

My feelings exactly, good season, a preview of what's to come in the future, i.e. Lucic, Kessel, Krecji

nice run, made some frenchman squirm in their yellowed undies for a couple days but the better team came out on top and this we cannot debate.

the future looks solid so long as they keep this corp of young guys together.

they need a 6'6 250lb center that cant be moved from the block

they need one of those gil perrault, guy lafleur types who come equiped with 5 teeth and a ton of speed and are tremendous all around play makers.

they have needs that must be addressed but all in all we had a good year and appear to be on the way back to respectability

There has been some speculation that they're interested in Marion Hossa, former Senator/Thrasher and now with the Pens. Not sure if he's what they need.

What they certainly do not need is Glen Murray, although I believe he's still under contract at 4+ mill for next year. Slow footed former snipers are not nearly as effective as they once were.

montreal fan's are idiots , a riot after a 1st round victory ?

MONTREAL–Imagine what would have happened if the Canadiens had lost.

After Montreal's 5-0 dismantling of the Boston Bruins, vandals set fire to five police cars – although some witnesses said as many as 10 were burned – on Montreal's busy Ste. Catherine St. strip late last night and smashed windows in several stores.

The smell of tear gas hung over a crowd of several hundred people who had gathered to celebrate the victory. Many revellers took cell-phone videos of the flames and shouted insults at police. It was not immediately clear whether any arrests were made.

Emotions flared when fans from a nearby rap concert joined in the mini-riot, which paled in comparison to the violence that followed the 1993 Stanley Cup victory.

"We need more police. I'm afraid of what will happen if we actually keep winning," said Dean Kalaidjian, a flag-waving fan.

Important post, Rules. I think that often Canadian media, and U.S. as well, portrays Montreal as being among the "upper crust" of North American society...or at least I've picked up on that notion myself through a variety of means.

The article mentions 1993's disgusting display after the Habs won the Cup. Let us not forget the debacle that ensued after the Metallica/Guns and concert was cut short. Or the 1955 (?) "Rocket Richard" riot. OK, now I may be considered off base on the following, but hear me out.

IMO, of the most obnoxious displays of fan behavior I saw this year was when thousands of Habs fans descend upon the B's home turf and, in generally large, tightly packed groups, taunt B's fans, boo Chara every time he touches the puck and conduct their usual home-ice chants.

While they are certainly entitled to do so, I'd expect that such an allegedly classy and knowledgeable group of fans would, if they attended a game in Boston, show a little respect for the home crowd. They obviously realize they are upsetting a lot of local fans who plopped down THEIR hard earned money too. So they deliberately ruin the experience for the local fan. That is disrespectful. My cousin, who IS a Canadien's fan, saw game 3 in Boston and said some of the displays were so bad he was very surprised the individuals didn't get fukd up by the home crowd. He did say there were some altercations, but nothing too bad.

Now I understand that they do this under the guise of being die hard Canadien fans, but you know what? I'll put my support of the Bruins over the last 35 years up against any and every one of them...I've blead black and gold for a long, long time...and I would never, ever, go up to Montreal, or to MSG or the Meadowlands or anywhere else and deliberately antagonize...and IMO, that is what many of these fans are all about. When in those situations, I dramatically curb my enthusiasm so as not to look like an ******* who's trying to get under anyone's skin.

But hey, that's me.

don't make the mistake of bunching up every Montrealer. those who caused the vandalism last night are small organized gangs of vandals who come out to cause their garbage every time they can hide under a cloak of excited people celebrating in the streets

i wouldnt worry about them winning the cup buddy

they struggled with the worst playoff team to make the post season.

i do want them to beat philly

i actually hate philly more than montreal and ny.

that washington team is more talented than philly but in a playoff environment philly is built better...ochoken(sp) had a shot from 25 feet out all alone and decided to pass to federov? was it....the guy wasnt expecting the pass and into the corner it went.

i heard barry melrose discuss this for 45 minutes last nite.

reminded me of stephan curry passing up an open 3 at the end of the kansas game to pass the ball to the white guy who as at the top of the key and had no idea the ball was coming his way...

superstars thrive on the big shot

thong wearing males with limited genitalia pass the puck

montreal is a nice city that carried a ny sense of entitlement for winning championships.

well that karma has been leveled over the last 10 years.

i had a situation in a bar on sherbrooke ave(the shang ri la hotel bar) where a couple of bearded men who had too much to drink were busting my balls over being an american etc...i was talking to the bartender about the old time greats and these gents cut into the conversation as only the rude quebecois can...

""vaaaaaaaat do you know about 'ockey monsiuer ur brewwwaaaans are terreeeeeble""

before they could get too excited i started dropping names, mentioning specific games and discussed the entire history of the canadien franchise from 1964 on...

before it was all said and done they were sending me drinks.

sometimes you can talk your way out of a bad situation

other times you cant

a boston guy shouldnt attempt to brawl an entire lounge on a saturday evening when all you have for defense is a whining coke whore from somerville on your arm and an empty bottle of beer....

i found the forum a wonderful environment to watch a hockey game with the fans usually dressed to the 9s on saturday evening and i also seen bruins fans absolutley embarass the entire city and our country by being f***ing idiots either by puking on themselves or starting s*** with teenage girls...

bad behavior goes both ways i guess

bad behavior goes both ways i guess

that it does. which is why i think it important to remember that our socialist friends to the north are NOT excluded from the mix, be it a riot or simply the audacity to come to Boston and act up.

I don't go to Yankee Stadium and wear Red Sox gear and fire up the Yankee fans...not because I'm afraid, but because I think it's THEIR house, not mine. A combinaiton of self-respect and respect for other paying fans I guess.

f*** the Habs and their arrogant fans, and I do hope Philly beats them or at the very least takes it to them physically. Hopefully the next dive by a Canadien player will be a dive onto the skewer that the Quebec media will have waiting for the goat of the series if and when they are eliminated. Kovalev would be a nice victim.

Avs vs. Red Wings in the playoffs. That's how I like it. Hopefully this series will rekindle what was easily one of the best rivalries in sports. I remember when Denver Radio Station KBPI put up the following billboard in Detroit...

Oh, yes, what a rivalry that was.

Claude Lemiuex running Chris Draper's face into the top of the boards...Lemieux was a tool, but Draper deserved a beating...although perhaps not a crushed face.

McCarty jumping Lemieux and pounding him, and giving him the Neely treatment by slamming him into the boards. It wasn't until the following year that Lemieux actually willingly accepted a fight with McCarty.

Roy vs Osgood a couple of times, with Roy bloodied in one bout.

Someone actually wrote a book specifically about this rivalry a few years back.

I think it was Vernon that bloodied Roy in the '97 Brawl, and one of the Red Wings took Roy out on his way to center ice. According to wikipedia, you could see patches of blood on the ice before it was zambodied.

The next year the two teams started brawling as the pucked dropped for the opening faceoff. This was the game I remember more specifically, with the two teams totalling 228 minutes worth of penalties.

Those games, and that rivalry was insane. Those teams legitimately hated eachother as much as the fans did, it seemed. What was great about it was that they were one of 4 or 5 teams that were in cup contention each year.

I need to look into that book.

claude lemieux scored 40 goals in his career and 39 of them it seems tied or won playoff games.

amazing playoff performer who i detest with the best of them

gentleman

the new series begin this evening

detroit is 2-1 over colorado

pitt is -155 over ny

montreal is 2-1 over philly(180 back if you bet the dog here)

sanjose is 165 over dallas....

the wings have put together the best stretches of hockey ive seen this year

philly beat a more talented washington team by mugging them

pitt ran thru ottawa like s*** thru a goose

san jose maybe the best of them all.

i think philly gives you the most value but the C's won all 3 this year against them

lots of studying to do here

Claude's career:

379 goals

406 assists

1756 PIMs

Playoffs:

233 Games

80 goals

78 assists

529 PIMs

4 Stanley Cups and one Conn Smthe trophy

He was clutch...he was an annoying bastard, but was tough. I will give him that after turtling once against McCarty (after a cheap shot sent him down) he redeemed himself to some extent by taking on McCarty 3 seconds into a game.

What I remember and still dislike though was the way he went after our Cam Neely with cheap shots but refused to fight. I don't care what he did to any non-Bruin, but against the B's, and particularly Cammer, he pissed me off big time.

Need Theodore to be huuuuuge this series.

I am pleased with the way the defensed Gaborik last series, maybe they can put forth that big of an effort again.

They'll need it.

im actually picking Colorado this series, I really dont like Detroit's goaltending. Osgood tailed off big time after the all-star break

alot of that was the fact that Lidstrom and rafalski missed around 10 games in that bad stretch they had . Detroits D is the best in the league when those 2 play , they dont allow alot of shots on goal . Osgood will be fine .

yea but with Colorado's excellent depth at forward, that will be tested. Should be a hell of a series

colorado had their own issues on defense last night and detroits d is solid as long as they dont give up too many shots on net because hasek literally sucked last series and osgood has been beatable as well.

Osgood had no chance on 2 of the 3 goal scored , so he allowed one bad goal and he made up for it in the third with a few big saves

So your defense isn't as good as you think?

Besides, Theo was sick and Budaj came in and did an excellent job. This series is far from over.

yes it is, they only allowed 20 shots as usual , like I said Osgood allowed a bad one . Far from over, yes it is but if detroit goes up 2-0 , its over
