buffalo lacks courage

theyre sitting as a 3-1favorite over the lame ass isles and got punched in the mouth

the islanders owned them 50 out of 60 minutes

are they really the #1 seed??

jersey plays the worst brand of hockey in the history of the sport

the trap almost ended the game forever

even when they win nobody gives a s***,including the season tix holders who dont appear for playoff games

detroit is the best team ive seen so far in the playoffs

i cant believe hasek is still playing at this level and they outshot calgary 50-15??

they wont lose

the west coast is night and day compared to the east i fear

each playoff team in the west had 100 points with calgary an exception at 96

they look faster and bigger and im going with detroit all the way

too much balance

Detroit is my choice as well...guts, goaltending, balance, they are so solid. What an organization too...remember the B's management told us the big-spending teams would be handicapped when the salary cap rolled around? Wrong, Detroit has done very well in the new NHL. Scotty Bowman is a consultant...I think that helps...and my guess is their scouting is among the best in the NHL.

On the other side of the coin, I'd love nothing more than to see the Sabres fold once again.

buffalo looked sharp last nite

crisp passing, solid backchecking and they made some plays

theyre clearly more talented than the isles but i dont know how they'd stack up against a bigger club, winning this game on the road was huge for them.

jim

think scotty knows a thing or 2 about winning??

hes been involved in what??20 cups over the last 40 years....

that canadien team of 76-79 was the best team ever in my opinion

1 of those teams lost 9 games?

2 men seperated the b's from dynasty status in the 70s

ken dryden and bernie parent

Right you are Sean. Have to admit that the way Buffalo played they can beat anyone...they're probably even deeper than Detroit, although lack the Lidstrom-type guy on defense but that may not matter given their speed.

Is Afinogenov the fastest guy in the league? Gotta be close.

Thing with Buffalo is I liked them back in the Perrault days, although I couldn't stand:

Schoenfeld

Ruff

Foligno (nice helmet, ass clown)

Then came the following and they were tougher to stomach:

Rob Ray

May

Barnaby

Now its Adam Maier that I can't stand and the fact that they are where they are largely due to the fact that they were saved by the NHL when their prior owner went belly-up. But fk me, they are looking mighty good.

Lightning up 2-1, over the Devils.

Is New Jersey the worst #2 seed in history, or is it just me?

their offense sucks thats for sure 27th in the leaugue with just 216 goal scored this year ..they rely too much on brodeur

Posted

yeah

martin brodeur has saved more than 1 gm and suck offense in his days

lindy ruff, rene robert, the venerable roger crozier, the sniper rick martin

they wore those real cool baby blue uniforms and did indeed make it to the bitter end in 1975 when jim lorentz and the sabres took out the canadiens in 6 only to meet bernie parent reggie leach bobby clarke and the defending champs from philly

wasnt andre""moose"" dupont an all around good guy??

isnt dave schultz the man you want your daughter with in the end?

anyone else think gary dornhoffer was hall of fame material??

who was the guy(im thinking ashby) who lost his eye ball ??

that philly team was good, real good

they interfered with the bruins and canadiens run thru the 70s

buffalo has them now

too much talent on the sabres to blow a 3-1 lead

the rangers finally won a playoff series..

even blind chickens catch a worm now and then

too bad the chicks on causeway street have been starved for 15 or so years

I'm torn on who I want to win the NJ series.

Hating the Rangers as much as I do, I kind of want the Rangers to have to play Buffalo...they'll be overmatched, I think.

On the other hand, hating the Rangers as much as I do, I wouldn't mind seeing them against Ottawa and seeing Chris Neil kick the s*** out of some Rangers.

Either way, if the playoffs eventually come down to a Buffalo-Ottawa matchup, I'd like that series...remember Neil's LEGAL hit on Drury that had the Sabres up in arms and drove them to attack the Sens star players? The Sabres proved little in the aftermath of that hit...in fact in my opinion they came out on the short end in every way.

Neil beat the snot outta Stafford immediately after the hit.

Peters went after the Sens goalie who had already had a fight with the Sabres goalie.

Maier went after Spezza.

Colletta trying to engage Heatley.

Then in the rematch 2 days later, Neil beats up Maier and the Sens come away with a 6-5 victory.

That would have potential to be a very intense series, and while I think Buffalo would take them, I'd be in Ottawa's corner.

they had a 7 game series 10? years ago i believe??

game 7 was 1-0 and i think ottowa got em

ya

anything to get some rivals at it

theres something about a vancouver dallas game that just isnt right

buffalo hung on by the scrotum hairs

good effort to come back from a home loss

complete melt down tonite in the 3rd was staved off by some goalie heroics

jersey moves on too

As a Rangers fan I'm not really worried about facing the Sabres. I think the Rangers can handel the speed of the Sabers. I looked back on the season series and the Rangers are 0-1-3 against them and Kevin Weeks started 3 of those games. Everytime King Henrik is in net for us we have a chance to steal a game.

Hate 'em both, but Sabres in 6.

I also forgot to include that since the last game between the Rangers and Sabres' date=' the Rangers have added players like Sean Avery, Paul Mara, Ryan Callahan and Daniel Girardi.[/quote']

Paul Mara, the ass-clown who played for the Bruins this year? I hope he's stepped it up since leaving Boston, because he brought little intensity/effort to the B's.

Avery is a good roll-player though, kinda Adam Maier-ish, I think.

Avery has been beyond a roll player. He pretty much won game 2 against ATL. Paul Mara has helped the Rangers turn their defense around with Girardi.

as little as i freely admit i follow the game now i can pretty much rule out any atlanta and buffalo comparison

the sabres are good, soft but good

lots of scoring balance and a decent goalie, rangers played very well over their last dozen or so games and had to battle all the way in,i like that kind of urgency that many higher seeds lose over the course of an 82? game season

i'll be rooting for buffalo

its about time they win something up in that godforsaken tundra

President's Trophy...that and a dime....

This may actually be Buffalo's year...the Eastern Conference is pretty weak in general and I'm not sure how strong Detroit will be down the stretch. Imagine them winning the cup with Ruff at the helm.

Ruff? Gimme a fkn break.
