Sabres lay the smackdown on the Flyers 9-1. 6-0 baby.....

What really looks bad on Philly is that Esche played pretty well. If if wasn't for him it would be 15-1. He actually keep them in the first period...it was 0-0 after the first, then 6-0 after the 2nd.

Classic example of the new NHL versus (Sabres) the old NHL(Flyers). I love it.

I'd argue if I could ;)

Arod, is Kaparitis back because I saw he was a healthy scratch for their first 4 games, and I couldn't really figure out why. Anyways, I think it would be in the Rangers best interest to call up Staal to maybe spark the team a little bit. I still think they will win the Atlantic and finish 2nd in the Eastern Conf., even though ATL is looking pretty damn good right now.

Someone needs to tell the Sabres to pick some colors and make an attempt to stick to them. I'd hate to be one of their fans. They were blue and yellow' date=' then blue and white, then red and white, then red and black, then red blue and black, then red and blue, then blue, white and black, then red, white and black, now what are they navy and gold?[/quote']

from a distance their shirt logo looks like a speeding slug.

It's Black Wednesday in Philly. Philly waived Nedved and Baumgartner.

This quote from Mike Knuble said it all: "This is an all-time low not only for this team but for the history of the organization, We've had wakeup calls before, but that was a flat-out, gut-wrenching embarrassment."

That team is a complete train wreck.

Before dumping another player, why not send Bobby Clarke to the unemployment line? That neanderthal refuses to build for the current game. He's living in the past.

I don't know if it was common knowledge or what, but before the game Esche made some comment about Hitchcock basically saying he's a dumbass. And Hitchcock came back saying "Tit for tat."

ESPN alluded to the fact that it may have been the reason that he was not pulled and was kept in for all 9 goals. I don't know if I agree with that. I don't think a coach would do that to a player on purpose. But if that was Hitch's intention to send a message, him and his team are absolutely disgustingly horrible.

But it's kind of weird. Hitchcock then said after the game "This is not on Robert Esche. Esche played great. We win as a team, we lose as a team, and Esche played great."

Umm, great? Sure, its not all on Robert Esche, but to say Esche played great 2 times after he and his team got lit up for 9 goals is just silly. Esche was great for 1 period. That doesn't equal great in any galaxy.

He couldn't stop a beachball for 2 (In fact, Versus had Briere Mic'd up and he said "We could score with a beach ball ) periods.

ESPN also made a comment last night before going to commercials with Top 10 Plays following. "Sportscenter top plays coming up. We have all 9 Sabre goals and one baseball play."

Buffalo's gotta lose sometime...

*gulp* :(

Not tonight. God, I love this team. Last undefeated team in the NHL. I't's amazing when you can play a subpar game and still win 6-2.

The Vanek-Roy-Afinogenov line (24 points in last 3 games) is un-f***ing-believable ...on Buffalo its the 3rd line. On many other teams it would be #1.

It will be a good test on Monday in Montreal.

Some things I noticed about the Bruins:

-They controlled play in the Sabres zone, but only scored 2 goals (vs a backup goalie)...unacceptable.

-Chara looks like he is struggling without Redden and Meszaros in Ottawa

-Defense is very slow and sluggish.

- Kessel looks like he will be a good one in the League in the coming year.

- Boston goaltending was horrendous, Tim Thomas always plays Buffalo tough for some reason.

I guess you hate the Sabres even more now.

4-1 lead with 8 minutes left and you lose 5-4?!?!?! my high school hockey team could have kept that lead.

If the bruins couldn't beat the sabres last night, they never will.

this is f***ing ridiculus

Despite having zero points in 18 games for the Canucks, Fitzpatrick sat 2nd in All-Star Game voting for defencemen in the Western Conference with 428,832 votes[1] as of December 20, 2006. Fitzpatrick's unlikely popularity was spawned from an internet campaign started on the SomethingAwful forums by Steve Schmid

The idea was to use the new NHL procedure, where people are encouraged to vote as often as they like, to have an unlikely candidate chosen. Contributors to this goal sent the idea across the Internet in hopes of having Fitzpatrick be voted in as one of the two starting defensemen for the Western Conference.[2] They also created several videos on Youtube as a way to spread news. A website, http://www.voteforrory.com, was made as well

The plot was originally conceived as a humorous campaign designed to show the flaws in the NHL voting system. The logic was that if enough people voted for an unlikely player to start the game, the league would change its system. After some time, the plan has metamorphosed for many into a more symbolic gesture. Some supporters have begun to view it as a campaign to send a hard-working player to the All-Star game, as opposed to yet another skilled player.[4] Detractors suggest that it is simply a waste of time and may potentially force a player who deserves to be there to lose his spot.

For his part, Fitzpatrick has stated that he has gotten a kick out of the campaign and acknowledges the hard work that his supporters have put into it.[5] Fitzpatrick's teammates have also been supportive since learning of the campaign, several voicing their intention to vote, and wearing customized "Vote for Rory" T-shirts at a team practice

nope, they declared bankruptcy and we're bought by a billionaire from rochester.

had to believe 2 yrs ago they filed for bankruptcy and now they are the best team in the east, and one of the best in all the league.

i used to follow the sabres when they had a team of gil perrault rick martin rene robert jim schoenfelt and the venerable roger crozier in net

they beat the 75 canadiens with a goal by jim lorentz in game 6 in the semi's?? and they took a great philly team 6 games but couldnt finish the job and lost in the finals

i used to love hockey

i blame the sweedes the ruskies the f***ing czecks and gary bettman for destroying what was once a thing of beauty

the game now is much better than it was 5 years ago

the league needs scoring and open ice

with the size of the players now so much bigger than say 20 years ago theres limited room as it is

the league did itself a favor by opening the game up again

last night's game was a disgrace in more ways than just the score.

A proud franchise, once down about 7-2, would have beat the snot out of the opponent, especially having lost to the same team by a wide margin just several days ago.

A couple of roughings and one fight?

Chara should have pounded someone into oblivion, but the team simply had no heart last night.

i thought they were coming around after the horrible start

20 goals in 3 games??

we couldnt put those #s up in street hockey leagues without getting stiches

or maybe it was a fluke.

Sean, I'm fine, thanks for asking (10 days ago!)

Hey, I was on youtube looking for Bruins fights and I came across the Stan Jonathan vs. Bouchard fight where Jonathan bloodied the big guy.

Damn I miss that stuff. The link is below:
