What are you talking about????? When Foulke is healthy he is lights out---please don't compare him to Julian "head case" Tavarez!

When the hell was the last time Keith Foulke was lights out?? You need to go back to the 2004 playoffs to see any kind of life from Foulke. I'm not exactly going to compare Tavarez to Foulke because they both suck so whats the point. Not only that but Keith Foulke is as big a "head case" if not bigger than Tavarez.....they are both ass holes....throw them both out. I don't think Foulke really had any issues with injuries...the Red Sox just threw him on the DL because he stinks.

Not totally sure about that...but I also have my suspicions...when a guy totally sucks and only then it is reported that he has been nursing a nagging injury for the last few weeks, it makes ya wonder.

i think foulke was done on 10/04

he may have blown his knees out when he caught veritek in his arms after the assist to end the world series.

tavares hasnt been lites out since he pitched in cleveland

i do like the insanity but i'd prefer to see him strictly pitch against the yankees in blowouts

i dont know why anyone would dig in on him

hes always 1 second away from killing someone

I usually don't take shots but Francona should have put Delcarmen in instead of the human white flag Tavarez. At least if he put Delcarmen in and we lost I would have felt better than seeing Tavarez in there and counting down till the blowup.

It’s like a broken record playing the same song over and over, Francona lets his veteran players continue to struggle in game situations and seems to turn a blind eye to their current performance. Being the player’s manager that he is, he gives the veterans every possible chance in game situations. Neither of the veterans (Tavarez and Seanez) have shown lately that once they get into trouble, they can rely on their "experience" and to stop any bleeding.

On the flip side, he seems to have little confidence in the rookies (except Paps) and has an extremely short leash with them. Maybe Tito is still feeling gun-shy for using Cla Meredith the way that he did and now is taking it to the other extreme.

This philosophy is frustrating, especially when Theo himself has said that he intends to use the Sox organizational depth to find answers to the pitching situation.

Well its doubtfull Foulke will ever get healthy agains since he hasnt being healthy once in the last 2 years.

We still don't need to compare him to Tavarez! If he can get healthy, it will be huge for our pen!

Anyone hear Francona's interview on WEEI today? He was talking about how Tavarez had his best stuff all year last night and how ironic the outcome was.

He also said he thought about using Delcarmen, but said he was afraid to because it could hurt his developement

Theo had similar comments to francona, but said he clearly fell apart after hitting a batter. His fastball was the best it was all year and he was locating it well. this great stuff only lasted 2.5 batters though.

I'd just like to say that you can't cut Tavarez, but you certainly can move him to lower leverage innings. Relief pitching is streaky, and theres a chance this guy can turn it around.

OK let's get real. Most people have an opinion on what should happen. Here is mine.

Tavarez - sent down

Foulke - perm. DL or sent down

Lester - Brought up

Hanson - Brought up

Logic... Both of the top guys are a-hole suck bags. They suck period. There is no reason to continue to give them any chances to get it together. They won't. The question is why not bring up the 2 studs? Some people might say if they stuggle it could cause lasting damage to their games. Well seeing that they undoubtably will be at least as good most likely better pitchers for this team then just do it for Christ SAKE!

We have too many good young pitchers in the minors. If we don't bring them up so they can have an impact we'll trade them away for some old dude hasbeen. I have a great idea. Let's trade both Hanson and Papelbon to the Yankees for Randy Johnson.

Come on Red Sox front office. You have too many losses that are directly because of moves or lack of moves you've made this year (and off season). Get with it!

Sorry to bump a thread from over a year ago, but I didnt want to start a new thread if I didnt have to.

Who wants to make a bet he pitches his ass off tonight knowing that Lester will most likely be brought up next week?

Heres to Julian! Youve been a lot better than I expected.....and hopefully youre on your "A" game 2nite!

I'd say he's had his "A" game for most of the season. he isn't gonna give you 7 or 8 shutout innings. he is what he is

Which is better than.......almost every team in baseballs 5th man.

EDIT: Most teams dont even have a number 5 starter. They have a consistant revolving door of 5th starters because they suck so bad. At least Tavarez is consistant.

Then let's get him six or seven runs tonight and win the game. I still want Lester brought up and I hope he is ready to make the move next week.

oh, I agree completely. he's gone above and beyond what's been expected of him and he's kept Lester in the minors. he's still shown he'll have a place on the team beyond Lester's return whether it be as a long reliever or whatever

In response to my start of this thread...

Who knew? :dunno:

hahahaha, i was thinking the same exact thing bro when i was looking for a tavarez thread to continue.....sorry for bringing this back bud, we all make mistakes hahaa

a lot of those guys ain't supposed to be 5th starters either' date=' and definitely aren't making 5th starter money[/quote']

True, but most of them are, and Tavarez is better than almost all. Tavarez is definitely a good option to have as a 5th starter.

I would just like to say.......seeeeeeeeeee i told ya so! Seriously though, I wonder if the Lester talk lit a fire under Tavarez's ass to pitch even better than he has been pitching (which has been very good lately anyway).

Good too see.....Tavarez is a very likeable person, and really doesnt deserve to leave the rotation if and when it happens.
